What challenge were you trying to address with Gibson Bookkeeping?

I hired them for bookkeeping services. I had never previously owned a business and needed help.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Gibson Bookkeeping helped from the beginning of my business. Christy (Founder) was initially involved in helping to run my business. I gave her information, and then she handled the accounting needs.

Gibson Bookkeeping has access to my information, so they’re involved in QuickBooks and payroll processing. Their team does my books and sends profit-loss balance sheets at the end of every month. We then go over them together.

What is the team composition?

About 2–3 people from Gibson Bookkeeping work on my account. I’m in contact with Christy and Jamie (Bookkeeping Specialist).

How did you come to work with Gibson Bookkeeping?

I found Gibson Bookkeeping through a recommendation. As I needed a bookkeeper, I met with Christy and then hired her.

How much have you invested with them?

I’ve spent between $10,000–$50,000 on their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working with Gibson Bookkeeping in 2015, and they still handle my bookkeeping.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Gibson Bookkeeping takes care of my bookkeeping, so I don’t have to worry about it. They manage the books better and easier than I can. I appreciate that I can focus on my job, and Christy focuses on hers.

How did Gibson Bookkeeping perform from a project management standpoint?

We use text, email, and Zoom to communicate. If I ever have a question, their team quickly replies. The partnership’s smooth, and our interactions are straightforward.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re professional. Christy’s great at her job.

No, everything has been great.

For what projects/services did your company hire Gibson Bookkeeping?

I hired Christy of Gibson Bookkeeping to transition my chart of accounts to Quickbooks online and to set up my payroll account on Gusto.

What were your goals for this project?

To significantly reduce my workload and monthly expenses by automating my bookkeeping responsibilities and transitioning to a subscription-based payroll system.

How did you select Gibson Bookkeeping?

I did an online Google search and found her in my neighborhood through her website and reviews.

Describe the project in detail.

I received training on Quickbooks online and learned how to do monthly and annual reconciliations - this was an in-person meeting. Christy walked me through the Gusto online payroll program, including set-up requirements. We did end-of-year reviews of my Quickbooks files for federal tax preparation by my accountant (2018/2019/2020).

What was the team composition?

Christy was my contact throughout.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The automation of my bookkeeping and payroll functions reduced my workload and the many headaches and expenses associated with the payroll function.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Excellent... always an efficient use of time and immediate response to my requests and questions. Except for the initial training segment, we were able to do all work sessions online.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are local, personal, professional, and cost-effective.

Are there any areas for improvement?

None, in my opinion.

I own a home services company. We clean windows, roofs, gutters, home exteriors, and we pressure wash.

What were your goals for this engagement?

To have clean books, to abide by all local, state, and federal laws, and to run payroll.

How did you select Gibson Bookkeeping?

I found them online after several mistrials with lesser companies.

Christy and her team have kept my books, sent me monthly reports, been ready and willing to take my phone calls, contacted me personally about large expenses, helped me file my annual reports and pay my taxes. They have been amazing!

Describe their billing or cost structure.

They pay a set fee based on the amount of work they do. As my company has grown, the fee has grown, but has always seemed reasonable.

What was the team composition?

I work directly with Christy (who oversees everything), Angelica (who does the day to day bookkeeping), and Sheila (who does the tax payments).

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

We were audited by the State of Washington DOR in 2019 and passed with flying colors thanks to Christy and her team.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are constantly in contact with me and my team to make sure we have everything done on time and in good order.

No.
