What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Foresite was able to help us clean up our perimeter prior to starting the service which was a big relief. We reduced our unused / rarely used rules by over 21%. Foresite also helped me keep my company's technical team and associated burn out very low. Having them support our environment 24X7X365 is a huge relief for us.

Their onboarding was solid. Essentially, at any given point throughout the onboarding process, I knew exactly what stage our project was in. Communication was solid, but not annoying. I don't have that much time as my schedule is always full. They were accommodating in my requests for the meetings.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Mostly, that we aren't locked into a single solution. If we want to change our EDR down the road, or any of the technology they are protecting for us, we can. We aren't locked into a specific piece of HW or SW as they can ingest anything that we want to throw at them. So many of these services force you to use their client and I'm convinced that isn't what's best for our company.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Foresite could have done differently?

With any project of this scope, there are always going to be at least one or two things you didn't think of. Not here... Their onboarding was proof that they have done this hundreds of times and have continued to improve their process.

The scope of the services included 24x7 monitoring of our core information systems including firewalls. IDS, Microsoft Azure, MFA, threat hunting, and MDR/XDR. The online platform also includes in depth reporting and a Risk Management and compliance platform. There is a TAM (Technical Account Manager) assigned to our account and we have monthly calls to review our account as well as evolving trends in our security posture.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The measurable outcomes include proactive notification, detection, and remediation of security events which free our IT staff to focus on their day-to-day duties with confidence the Foresite is minding the monitoring and response. Foresite also frees our staff by managing our firewalls, keeping them updated, and implementing requested changes.

There are multiple areas of project management. When onboarding a new or added services, there is a dedicated project manager who guides the engagement through transition into production. We also have a client service manager assigned to our account who is a POC for any concerns and is responsible for the overall success of the service. 

There is also a TAM, Technical Account Manager who leads the monthly TAM calls interpreting our logs, performing threat hunting, ensuring that incidents and service requests are responded to timely, and providing a forward-looking view of the cybersecurity landscape and things we need to be considering.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The people delivering the services are all top notch and on top of things. They are also focused on the small to midsize market, so we get the individual attention not found from larger providers. Despite focusing on the small to midsize market, Foresite also has an international presence which is important to us having locations in the USA and the middle east. 

The handoffs and coverage between the UK SOC and the US SOC are seamless and both teams always seem to be well versed in what is going on. Pricing is also highly competitive and the value delivered by Foresite exceeds that of larger providers who are priced higher.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Foresite could have done differently?

Anything to be said here would fall into the bucket of continual improvement, because Foresite proactively improves areas that are not the best fit for their customers. Examples would be our original deployment of Carbon Black EDR which while effective, had problems. Foresite transitioned us to Crowdstrike at zero additional cost to us and we benefited from significant improvements. 

Another would be the risk management platform. FIRM was unreliable and not meeting our needs and Foresite transitioned to Apptega as a replacement, which also proactively resolved any issues.
