We were able to create a great sizzle reel using the b-roll footage captured at the event. The podcasts and customer testimonials also turned out really well. Additionally, the mainstage panels were expertly shot from three different camera angles, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all the speakers on stage.

They delivered everything on time. On the same day of the summit Andrew's team sat down and dumped all the footage in SSDs till 2 am and made sure it reached us on time. They were very cooperative and even agreed to extend the day as per our needs.

What challenge were you trying to address with Fog Coast Productions?

I had a client that needed a video production project, which we couldn't do in-house. Thus, as creative director, I had to find a partner who could do great work and bring them into the project to help us with a 3D animated video.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Fog Coast Productions has helped us create a one-minute 3D animated video. Although we produced the script and provided the voice actor for this video, Fog Coast Productions was responsible for making the whole animated video come to life. I didn't have to deal with any files on my end; all I provided them was a Google Docs document with our requirements. Although I also provided them with the sound files, I knew that they were also capable of doing that on their own.

What is the team composition?

I worked directly with Steve (Co-Founder & Creative Director), who was the animator for this project. I also interacted with Andrew (Co-Founder & Executive Producer) during the initial process, as he helped with the contract.

How did you come to work with Fog Coast Productions?

One of their teammates reached out to me via LinkedIn a couple of years ago because we were in the same area. We initially talked about doing a different project, which fell through on my end, so we didn't get to do a project then. Still, my initial meeting with them was great, and they were very easy to work with.

I eventually brought this project to them, and I was very excited about it. The contract process was also fine and easy, so we finally got to work together.

How much have you invested with them?

 We spent $9,000 with them. Still, although I was the one who hired them, my end customer was the one who actually paid for their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together on this project from February 2024–April 2024. Still, I'm now trying to find ways to keep working with Fog Coast Productions, so I'm looking for more clients who need animated video production.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

My client was very satisfied with the work and happy with the quality of the video. I'm also very happy with the outcome because we accomplished everything we set out to do. Currently, we're trying to use that video as an ad to get some traction, and we will also launch a website that features this video. We hope that we'll get great results from those efforts.

How did Fog Coast Productions perform from a project management standpoint?

Fog Coast Productions delivered the project on time and on budget, so I felt very good about that. We communicated via email and used Zoom whenever we required meetings, which was great because that's how I communicate with everyone nowadays.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Steve was awesome. I had a great time working with him. As an art director myself, I was able to provide him with a drawing, and he came up with an entire animation based on it and on my descriptions. Steve literally made a 3D version of my ideas, which was very intuitive and smart.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Steve did a particularly good job with gestures. He had a good sense of how to animate gestures, which was particularly helpful whenever I needed to act something out for him to understand. He also had a great sense of timing.

I also truly appreciated how quickly Steve was able to tell me our boundaries. I don't know about animation, so I didn't always know what I was asking for. Whenever I requested a scope change, Steve was great at explaining the implications and whether my request would create issues for the project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There's nothing Fog Coast Productions could have improved on. This was the most perfect and seamless project I had worked on with any contractor. It was very fun to work with them, so it was like a happy place for me.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

It's good to come in with a specific idea, but be ready to be flexible and listen to Fog Coast Productions. They'll have good suggestions for you, so don't try to answer everything yourself and see what they come up with.

Fog Coast Productions produced a promotional video for our website. I created basic storyboards for the video, and they handled the filming and postproduction elements. They brought a lighting and production crew to film for two days on location at our new offices. Then, they added B-roll and animations to the video and sent me samples for background music. Once I chose the music, they were responsible for audio mixing and editing to reach the final output.

We worked together from February–November 2022.

We’re happy with the video Fog Coast Productions created, and we’ve received positive feedback from those who have seen it. We plan to publish the video on our company website.

They were on top of everything, and the process was seamless. Fog Coast Productions delivered items on time, and they were flexible when I held them up. For example, I was late signing the contract, and they gave me plenty of extra time, which was nice. They were very professional throughout the entire process. We met via Zoom and communicated via phone.

Fog Coast Productions did a good job evaluating the scope to ensure they delivered the project according to my needs. They asked the right questions when they didn’t have all the information and improvised when they needed to.

I searched the internet trying to find a company that is located in the Bay Area and produces the aesthetic for what I had in mind as well as fit within my budget. I interviewed a few video production companies before going with Fog Coast Productions.

I started with a preliminary video call with Andrew, I went over what I had in mind and he clearly explained the process, timelines, and what to expect with his team. He went over all of my questions and gave a great follow-up that I could easily present to my CEO to pitch this marketing cost.

I paid the deposit and easily booked a filming date that worked with multiple 3rd parties involved. Andrew and I worked on the script and he went over his vision of how production will look.

Our company is very happy with the results of this project and are already scheduling a follow-up production with Fog Coast Productions.

We recently went through an acquisition of another company and we wanted to develop an internal corporate culture video to unite people with different backgrounds from both companies. We also wanted to develop an external video that explains the history of who we are and our vision going forward.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Fog Coast was recommended by someone who has worked with them in the past. Fog Coast is known for its reputation as a solid video production company that develops high quality videos and specializes in visualization of abstract concepts using modern techniques.

We first kicked off the projects with a brainstorming session. We really wanted make sure the production team understands the messages we wanted to deliver and the goals we wanted to achieve. Then we developed scripts and storyboards and fine-tuned the content based on their feedback so that we can tell our story effectively.

The third stage is designing a mockup for the video. We went back and forth in this segment since one of our projects involved developing an original animation with a character. Once the character was completed, we had another round of reviews up to 3 versions.

We mainly worked with Andrew and Steve. They were very good at responding to our questions and delivering updates on time. The feedback platform is interactive and easy to exchange comments.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

One of our projects involved creating an original animation. We exchanged at least 4-5 versions while trying to define the character, and once that’s done, we moved to the animation part. We did not want to compromise and we kept exchanging feedback until everything was perfect.

The production team was very patient, listened to our detailed requests and delivered the character that met all of our requirements. Adding to the pressure were our tight deadline and an additional video which was in production simultaneously. Despite all the hurdles, the team delivered quality products on time. 

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Andrew and his team worked on two of our corporate videos recently. The quality of their work and their professionalism throughout the projects simply exceeded our expectations. From the beginning, they were very methodical in preparing outlines with us and guiding us to the right direction, while accommodating our style and requests as much as possible. We were in touch frequently and they kept us updated with the latest status and the schedule of each deliverable. They understood our requirements and explained how to best visualize and incorporate our vision into the videos.

We had two videos in progress simultaneously and the deadlines were very tight, but despite these requirements, we are very pleased with the final products. The videos are truly a unique work and not a copy of typical corporate videos. We are looking forward to working with them on future projects.

I really can’t say enough about the team's commitment to excellence. They were extremely professional and exceeded every expectation I had in terms of quality and artistic presentation.

I was pleasantly surprised with the sheer number of video files they took with both the drone and gimbal shoots. Steve and Andrew explained their company philosophy about being better to have extra footage which may not be needed than to miss a good selling feature.

Fog Coast worked with us to define the process for interviewing several members of our team as well as KOLS. They flew, with equipment in hand, to one of our largest conferences where they captured interviews, booth activities, and other B-roll like content.

A second project required a trip to our main office where they interviewed members of our team and product demonstrations. Fog Coast worked with us during the editing process, providing us several revisions to help ensure the final product was exactly what we were looking to achieve.

They provided a two-person filming crew when on-site and one animator for post-production work. Each step of the way, our teams worked closely together, sharing ideas and recommendations.

The Fog Coast team was very accommodating and easy to work with, making those they interviewed feel comfortable during the process and after filming, provided us multiple rounds where we were able to fine-tune the final products.

The content Fog Coast Production generated has been used by our sales teams countless times over, helped substantially increase our web traffic, and is continues to be accessed via Social Media and Video platforms.
