We had a growth year for the first time in 2 years and we set records for our cash on hand, profit, and topline revenue.

Their software they help implement for you, EngineBI is on another level when it comes to getting reports and insights specifically for marketing agencies.

I really like the functionality of the EngineBI software, some of the user experience elements could be "prettier" but it's early days and I know they are working on that. It's a nice to have but not a need to have since the software still works perfectly.

We started by mapping out our numbers in detail—breaking down revenue, costs, and profitability by department, delivery team, client, and service type. From there, we’ve had regular strategic sessions to interpret the data and tie it to actionable business decisions.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Before using EngineBI, we made costly hiring decisions based on strong top-line numbers without understanding where the revenue was actually coming from. We overinvested in the wrong departments, which hurt profitability. Once we implemented EngineBI, we finally had visibility into revenue by service line and team, allowing us to right-size the org, make strategic cuts, and stay disciplined. Since then, we’ve been profitable every quarter, and we’ve been growing at 20% annually on average.

They have solid systems in place—most of the delivery happens through the software, but they’re also very available for the consulting side. They’ve been responsive, clear on timing, and always delivered what they promised. Support is easy to access, and everything has been on time. I’m happy with how they manage the relationship.

What impressed me most is how purpose-built this is for marketing agencies. It’s not a generic financial tool—they clearly understand the nuances of agency operations, like splitting employee costs across teams or tracking delivery profitability in a meaningful way. You can tell it was built by people who’ve run agencies themselves. For a growing firm like ours—mid seven figures aiming for eight—it gives us the financial structure and visibility you’d expect from a company 10X our size.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Fiscal Advocate, Inc. could have done differently?

At one point, they leaned more heavily into a pure software model, and while the platform is strong on its own, I’m really glad they brought back the consulting piece. Their team has deep marketing operations knowledge, and there’s a lot of value in being able to talk through the decisions you’re making based on the data. The combination of software plus strategic guidance is what makes the experience so effective.
