When our team was larger, we had good response to our needs and recevied great attention.  Towards the end of our engagement when we only utilized a single resource and mostly for support every now and then on older projects the response was not as good. This is not surpsrising as its harder to motivate a team of developers to only do minor updates and support when they are usually focusded on new developments. 
Overall, I have always been satisfied, but I can say that the team thrived in larger project environments.

Better handling of support, followup, and ongoing communication. This is a 2-way street though, which also requires that anyone hiring have their own good project management team. While the primary PM on the FLO side was always doing his best to stay on top of things, there were often times towards the end when we had fewer resources that it seemed to take a long time to get results. This was also influenced by our own lack of dedicated PM resources at the time as well though.
