I’m the founder of a mobile application. Our product is a social media platform where users can find friends or other people to attend events, mainly EDM concerts or events in the EDM music scene. We figured the EDM community would be stronger in the social media aspect.

We initially gave Exyte the idea of what we were trying to do and a wireframe. We had a designer, so we did the design and frontend, and Exyte had to code the rest.

We only worked with the two founders. In terms of development, we didn’t have anyone else engaging in development.

We began working with them in October 2023 and ended production in May 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The app isn’t launched yet. We’re doing a soft launch among our friends to see how the app is received. We also want to see if the design needs to be tweaked, so we’re doing some iteration by doing that soft launch. Then, we might resume production depending on how things go.

So far, everything has been in line with what we expected. Exyte met all the expectations for what we set out to do and what they promised. Overall, we’ll see what works with our app, so we might not be done with production.

How did Exyte perform from a project management standpoint?

They were in line with both time and budget.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

The founders were both responsive and helpful. They’d done projects before, so they were able to provide strong insights into certain directional ideas we had in a meeting. They were both insightful about whether we should proceed with this.

What did you find most impressive about them?

From my outside point of view, everything proceeded smoothly and worked well.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there wasn’t anything to improve. They handled everything quite well. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Work in tandem with them. We had our own designer, so the communication between the designer and Exyte was slightly off. Other than that, everything was fine.

I’m the co-founder and CTO of a software company focused on blockchain, VR, and AI that works with brands and artists to build cutting-edge projects. We’ve been running for two years and have worked with a big-name company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Exyte?

A client wanted to start indexing different blockchains together. We had built the prototype ourselves, but the client requested more blockchain platforms and wanted to invest in an iOS application. Since we don’t have iOS expertise, we hired Exyte to build the app and integrate it with Wallex.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Exyte provided us with mobile app development. The team built a Wallex-integrated iOS app that works as a cryptographic wallet where users can see their transactions and activity listings across different blockchains. 

Initially, we built a prototype ourselves as a simple HTML page. Exyte came in and provided iOS development and consultancy services. We provided them with web-based wireframes, and the team translated them into mobile versions. They also offered backend development services to support the iOS app, mainly on authorization functionality.

We worked with Nick (TA Lead) and one other teammate from Exyte. 

How did you come to work with Exyte?

I had worked with them on another blockchain project involving Vermont cannabis regulations tracking. That project and our collaboration were successful, so I knew they would be a good partner for this project. Originally, I found Exyte four years ago through a friend who went to college with part of the team. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $200,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from around January 2022–January 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Exyte worked very diligently alongside us and excelled at providing mobile development expertise; they didn’t see us as simply a way to make money per hour. Since blockchain technologies are in an early stage, we encountered bugs. However, Exyte’s testing was very thorough and caught the bugs before we did. The team reviewed the whole app before sending it to us and our end client. 

The app hasn’t been released in the App Store yet since submitting an app related to money is challenging. Although we’re not actively working together, we plan to work with Exyte on other projects; for any mobile app development project, I think of Exyte. 

How did Exyte perform from a project management standpoint?

Since we were working with new technology and needed much custom coding, the deadline was extended, partly due to us missing deadlines on our side. Additionally, the client added more features to the scope along the way. Exyte demonstrated a sense of urgency to meet the deadline, which was super helpful for us. 

Moreover, Exyte’s team was very clear upfront, and I appreciated their culture of transparency. Instead of trying to keep the peace at all costs, they told us when they couldn’t reach the deadline. 

We used a Notion task list and Jira for project management. Exyte used a GitHub repository and adhered to the task list. As for communication, we had a daily call to review their progress and next steps, check the task list, and set priorities. We also used feature descriptions and estimations following the Scrum methodology. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed with Exyte’s diligence and willingness to become a team member to us. I also appreciated them being upfront about everything — they had good communication. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could work on an in-house strategy. Although the price was high for us and low for the client, that’s not on Exyte. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be upfront and don’t try to stretch the deadline or introduce features creep without Exyte’s knowledge. For them to be effective, you should be clear, come to the table with the full features, and try not to deviate too far from them.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Exyte provides us with trusted resources to work on the various mobile development projects we have with our clients. Initially, we went through a discovery process, during which we were introduced to their team and had a conversation about our needs and their capabilities.

We pride ourselves on building scalable and well-documented enterprise-quality code. Thus, when we initially went to them, one of our first and foremost requirements was quality. Additionally, we were looking for great communication skills, not just from the resources themselves but also from the engineering leads and other project stakeholders from Exyte.

We wanted the team working for us to be very communicative regarding situations causing them not to meet the project requirements as expected. Of course, we also requested dependable and reliable resources.

We’ve worked with around 6–7 different teammates from Exyte. Although the number of resources they provide us with has varied over the years, we’ve consistently worked with at least one or two members of their team. Although we don’t have a project manager assigned to our projects, one of their more senior resources has been heavily involved in our projects, acting as the go-to person for communication.

We were referred to Exyte. One of our colleagues had been working on a different project with them.

We’ve been working with Exyte for around four years. We started working together around October 2019.

Exyte has been an excellent partner. Due to their reliability, flexibility, and ability to scale up and down their resources over the years, their team has saved us a lot of time in recruiting. They’ve also given us peace of mind because we know that when we have upcoming projects, we’ll be able to augment our staff with Exyte as needed.

How did Exyte perform from a project management standpoint?

Exyte has performed very well. When we first started working together, the integration of their resources into our team was very easy and seamless. Since then, they’ve been fantastic. We use Jira for project management and Slack for asynchronous communication between project teams. Additionally, I’ve communicated with Igor (CEO) over email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Exyte is a fantastic team, so we value our partnership with them a lot.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of any constructive feedback for Exyte. If we’ve ever had an issue, which I don’t remember, they’ve certainly been quick to respond and address the issue. I have nothing but great things to say about them.

Exyte is fantastic, so as long as you communicate your expectations clearly, the engagement should be smooth sailing.

Exyte has been our partner for about 15 years in custom software development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Exyte has been helping us with several custom software development projects. We’ve worked together on an individual development plan (IDP) on an old programming language called Cobol, which has included creating specific extensions. In addition, they’ve helped us design the system's UI and the presentation for integrated functions in our products, like code coverage and profiling. 

Additionally, they’ve developed a data displayer for Cobol so we can do data consulting and offer our customers a mechanism to review and update flat files with a graphical and user-friendly interface and with all the background mechanisms for the web services system.

Regarding technologies, they code in Java and use C as their other programming language.

What was the team composition?

We work with 1–6 members of Exyte’s team, including Yuri (CTO) and their development team — everything depends on the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2013, and the engagement is ongoing.

Most of the time, we’ve gotten great results on Exyte’s work with very few bugs — overall, their deliverables are absolutely functional and perfect.

How did Exyte perform from a project management standpoint?

Exyte works as an extension of our team, and that’s why I like working with them because we know each other. In addition, whenever I explain what I want, they research the advantages of each technology; after that, they execute what they commit to doing to get it done. Moreover, they’re always on time and within budget.

Regarding communication, we use Skype, Mircosoft Teams, and emails to communicate.

Exyte does everything well, but I’ve been impressed by the quality of their work and their professionalism.

I am COO of a software products company that offers high tech products and solutions in the B2B space.

For what projects/services did your company hire Exyte, and what were your goals?

Our products & offerings are based out of a framework built atop Apple’s technologies. The last couple of years has seen Apple introduce some significant, dramatic shifts in its platform and we have been on a mission to re-align our frameworks and products with these shifts.

This was a massive lift for us since we have been building and adding to our tech framework for over 10 years now. After exploring and talking to a few dozen teams and companies, we chose to hire Exyte to augment our efforts towards this endeavour. 

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Since we consider some of the changes in Apple’s platform to be paradigm shifts, we needed to engage with a team that deeply understood both worlds, old and new. We didn’t want someone to simply recode some of our existing ObjectiveC code to Swift, we needed someone who could understand our code and re-think it in the best possible way using the newer tech.

Deep experience & knowledge of the Apple eco-system was the key deciding factor at play. And this is exactly where Exyte stood out of the rest of the crowd. We explored the kind of code they write from some of their open source projects on Github even before engaging with them. Their long term experience in the evolution of the platform gives them a unique ability to align with our needs. 

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The scope of work revolved around re-engineering our core product and framework to use Swift, SwiftUI, Combine and a bunch of new technologies introduced by Apple in a staggered approach.

Since our products are live with hundreds of paying business customers, we needed to ensure stability all along the process. And since our codebase is significantly large, we needed the new stuff to co-exist well with the existing tech as the transition will take a while. Unfortunately, as a technology products company I am not at liberty to disclose finer details of the project.

A project manager and three senior iOS developer were assigned to our project.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

I can confidently say that Exyte has exceeded our expectations in all aspects important to us. Not only have they been able to deliver on the parts that were explicitly assigned to them, they have been able to augment our vision and roadmap with new ideas that we hadn’t thought to be possible.

They maintained extremely clear, transparent & punctual communication through out the project. When required, the Exyte team spend extra hours on zoom calls just to sync up with the internal team and be on the same wavelength. They also efficiently adopted to our toolset instead of forcing their own onto us.

This is definitely one of the areas Exyte pleasantly surprised us as from our experience good management and great tech is a very rare combination!

Their deep, long term knowledge of the historic tech landscape along with their focus on bleeding edge technologies is what, above all else makes Exyte a great engineering company.

They’re fast and high-quality software developers, which is very rare to find. Their interaction with us is straightforward and distinctive, and they have a good process. Also, Exyte helps us understand everything business-wise, and we like that we don’t have to worry about the technical side. They transform our ideas into code and friendly UX for the users.

Our users are happy, so we’re satisfied with their work. They fix the bugs, and everything looks nice. Overall, the app meets our requirements and works well. Sometimes it’s slow, but they fix it when we tell them.

How did Exyte perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is very good. Their process is effective, and they’re responsive and proactive. Moreover, Exyte delivers what they promise, and they’ve been supportive throughout the project.

Zoom is our main form of communication, but they also use Jira, Slack, Figma, and BusinessObjects for statistics.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re more formal than other companies we’ve worked with. Everything is supported by technology and formulized. On the other side, they don’t ask us to sign all the requirements in advance, release in two months, and ask for extra money if we’re not happy with the results. They adapt quickly on every sprint and don’t charge extra for flexibility. The team is flexible and fast; we just change it together.

In general, Exyte has helped us transform our business hypotheses and ideas into application functionality. I think like a businessman, so I have ideas of how users should communicate. Their team has created the real requirements for the application.

Sometimes they don’t have enough resources. Also, they might be cheap, but it’d be better if they were even more affordable.

I’m the project manager for Polemica, an intellectual and psychology-based game. We give people the opportunity to play their favorite game online, and our company has been on the market since 2019.

We decided to expand the functionality of our game, so we needed help with mobile app development. We also needed to improve our website to make it more convenient for our users.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Exyte has provided mobile app development and made some improvements to our website. Players can use the site to play an online game famous in Russia, Ukraine, and Germany. They’ve added support for the offline clubs on the website and the iOS and Android apps. They’ve also created the products from scratch, but we’ve provided the documentation.

Additionally, Exyte is in charge of the technical support for all offline tournaments, including holding games, results calculations, and more. Their employees enter the tournaments and make sure that everything is working correctly.

We have a big team of 10–15 people assigned to us. We’ve worked with their CTO, and Yuri (CTO) is our main point of contact.

I’m the CTO of Ligero Inc. We provide software solutions for privacy applications; we focus on financial technologies and applications. We use state-of-the-art cryptographic tools to secure multiparty computation and zero-knowledge proofs.

What challenge were you trying to address with Exyte?

We developed a software solution, and we were looking to market it into a new space. We wanted to build a website to showcase our product and engage users. Also, we wanted them to answer a survey because we wanted to do market research.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Exyte provided marketing and advertising services. They built a website for our product and did the survey campaign through Facebook and SurveyMonkey. We used Facebook for the advertising campaign to invite people to our web page and SurveyMonkey for surveys.

It was an end-to-end process. We started with the team bouncing ideas back and forth, and Exyte worked with us to decide what content should be included. They suggested ideas and were very helpful throughout the process, helping us define our survey questions and understanding what we wanted to get from the campaign. In the end, they provided an analysis of the results.

The website was a typical startup site. It showcased our solution and invited users to go to the survey and share their email addresses. It had a simple form with a box where people could fill and buttons to sign up for our product or go to the survey.

We primarily interacted with Alexandra (Mobile Developer). She was our main point of contact. Additionally, we had one more designer for the frontend, but we didn’t work with them.

One of our engineers recommended them.

Exyte’s work was crucial for us. Without them, we wouldn’t have ventured into building the product. We wanted to make sure there was a demand in the market, and we accomplished our goal. They exceeded our expectations and helped us through the whole process. Now, we’re close to finishing the product and putting it on the market.

How did Exyte perform from a project management standpoint?

They were in a different time zone, but they were very professional. They met the schedule and were disciplined. We didn’t have any issue with them; the project went smoothly.

We could communicate with them even off-hours. We mainly used Signal, email, and Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They stood out for the website design and UI; they had the right experience. Also, they provided an end-to-end service and held our hands through the process, which was nice.

We’re very happy with the product. Exyte was able to get a proof of concept out in about a week. We were very impressed with how quickly they were able to get through the first phase of the project. We’re nearly done with the app; there are just a couple of bugs we’re still working to resolve.

How did Exyte perform from a project management standpoint?

Initially, we communicated over Slack and email. Later on, they used our own project management tools, like Jira, and that worked very well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was very pleased with how easy it was to work with them. I’ve worked with other developers in the past and have had a hard time communicating with them. With Exyte, communication was very good. They effectively translated our ideas and concepts into actual features that we could use.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m not sure that there was anything they needed to improve.

I would give anyone looking to develop a software product the same advice: have a concrete idea about exactly how everything is supposed to work and establish your testable criteria at the beginning of the project.

I'm the founder and designer for WorkoutLabs. We specialize in informational products and online platforms for the fitness industry. Our mission is to make fitness simple and accessible to everyone. For example, we make yoga cards, which make it easy for anyone to get started with yoga from the comfort of their own homes.

We also have a mobile app that allows users to browse or create their own workout routines in a visual format that’s easy to understand and follow, whether it's at the gym, at home, or elsewhere. We are primarily a B2C company, but we do work with some hospitals and universities to provide our platform as a solution to their organizations as well.

What challenge were you trying to address with Exyte?

We initially worked with a different company to build the original version of the app, but they failed to deliver the specified application. We were looking for someone who could build our specified application.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Exyte picked up the project and took it to completion. They improved the app over what it was originally and what we had in our specifications. They initially came on board to actually finish the original version that was planned. Since then, we’ve been working with Exyte to continuously improve and add features to the app. As of now, the app is for iOS only, but we will most likely work with Exyte on the Android version in the near future.

The app is for WorkoutLabs’ Fit product, which is a subscription-based service for individuals to signup to. They can browse our large selection of workout plans or create their own and schedule that on their calendar within the app. They can track their progress with different fitness metrics like their weight, strength, body measurement, etc. to move toward their health and fitness goals.

What is the team composition?

We work primarily with three team members from Exyte. Igor (CEO) is our primary contact. He makes all of the arrangements as far as our partnership with Exyte, including rates, scheduling, and team members assigned to work on the project. Mark (iOS Developer) has worked on the app from the start. Julia (QA Engineer) was doing the testing prior to releases.

How did you come to work with Exyte?

An iOS developer that I trust and worked with before referred Exyte to me. He had worked with Igor at a different iOS development firm. Also, besides the recommendation, I went with Exyte because of their profile on Clutch; they had overwhelmingly positive reviews from their other clients.

We’ve invested around $50,000–$60,000.
 
What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Exyte in November 2019, and the engagement is ongoing. Mark is currently working on the app's latest updates.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our app has approximately 60,000 downloads. One metric is the app's crash report — so if users are having a good experience with very few or no crashes, that's a measure of the quality of the work. In working with Igor and Mark, I consider their prompt communication and adherence to schedule and estimates that they provide or tasks that I layout. 
 
How did Exyte perform from a project management standpoint?

Exyte’s project management is excellent — I'm very happy with them. We communicate through Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of their work and efficiency distinguishes them from other providers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There really aren't any areas where we've had problems. I wish their rates were cheaper, but that’s not talking about their work. Otherwise, I’m happy with everything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have very clear specifications on tasks and assets like designs. As long as the task is clear, the Exyte team will be able to execute it pixel-perfect and will have things as you specified. If the specifications and tasks are vague, it will be difficult to arrive at a result that is satisfactory.
