I’m the president and founder of Latence Technologies, a startup.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Explorai?

We were trying to do a real-time analysis of the low latency of 5G cellular networks. As a result, we engaged with Explorai to provide consulting services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Explorai conducted a small technology survey to identify which AI and machine learning (ML) tools to use in the project. In this case, the team asked for data to do some experiment and tests which we provided to them. They then used the data which was timestamps to create a prototype tool. 

After that, they provided the results to me in a form of preliminary algorithms or a source code of the tool of the AI and ML algorithms. Then, they presented their results in a live demonstration and it was also enclosed in a document.

What is the team composition?

We worked with two people from Explorai.

How did you come to work with Explorai?

We met at an incubator because we were both startups, and we discussed what they were doing. I realized that if we collaborate with Explorai, I’d be able to get a first crack at what AI and ML tools could do with the data I collected. I also saw that the team was very capable of doing a short and focused project for me at a cost-effective price. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $3,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked from December 2020–January 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Explorai was very transparent on how they addressed our problem. They also gave us a complete result, and that allowed us to access the source code that they developed. We also had access to a specific environment called Python notebooks which we were not familiar with. The package they created would definitely allow our internal development team to continue working. 

The analysis they did put us right on track, and they achieved their purpose of giving us direction and consultative insights on my problem. 

How did Explorai perform from a project management standpoint?

We mainly used email because it was sufficient and it wasn’t a super big project. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their reactive approach allowed them to quickly address our problems. Explorai also had a wide scope of domain expertise. Since they did a lot of small projects, they acquired knowledge about the use of AI in different fields. As a result, when I came to them with real-time analysis of time series data, they were able to find somebody knowledgeable. Overall, I was quite amazed by their capabilities.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m not aware of how they work with bigger projects, but if they do, maybe they could use an integrated project management tool where deliverables and activities could be defined. They could also allow their customers access to a common environment such as Jira and Microsoft DevOps.

That way, their team and the external client’s team could both see the project’s progress and get information about the deliverables. Having that kind of project management workflow could ease the relationship during a large project.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Clearly define your problem and challenges to Explorai. Additionally, gather the data before starting your project because they need it to kickstart the project. My suggestion is for you to assign somebody to prepare the data so that you don’t lose any time.
