I’m the CEO of Sensix. We’re an early-stage startup in Romania, and we have an end-to-end solution for monitoring ambient and energy for B2B companies.

What challenge were you trying to address with ENOVATIKA?

We only had engineers, and we didn’t have designers in-house. As a result, we hired ENOVATIKA’s designers to help us in building our mobile and web applications.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had some brainstorming sessions at the beginning of the project with the founder of ENOVATIKA and we created the requirements together. That included creating the roadmap for the MVP as well as the requirements that were needed to put that together such as wireframes, drawings, and more.

They didn’t create our logo, but they took it and adjusted our style guide. After that, we extended it from there. They’ve mostly delivered the UI components for our web and mobile applications. They’ve also created the design of our website and a bunch of campaigns on our Facebook page. 

Overall, we utilize ENOVATIKA’s expertise in designing web interfaces. Their work also involves spearheading our UI/UX efforts. We use Zeplin, and through that, we can implement the designs that they provide us with. The team also provides media content for our marketing team, and they post good-quality images.

What is the team composition?

We have one full-time employee from their team, but there are many people we can consult with. However, at any given time, we only collaborate with one person.

How did you come to work with ENOVATIKA?

We were located in the same city, and we attended many events and conferences. Some of their employees had worked together with me in the same company a decade ago, and we established a good relationship back then. As a result, we felt confident in hiring ENOVATIKA.

How much have you invested in them?

Their compensation is hourly-based. So far, we’ve spent €50,000–€100,000 (approximately $58,900–$117,800 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing partnership began in June 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve been quite happy with ENOVATIKA’s services. Moreover, we’ve received compliments from our third-party customers regarding our designs — they’ve said the team’s work is well done. Overall, we have a pretty good experience with their team.

How did ENOVATIKA perform from a project management standpoint?

Our collaboration has been very smooth. We’ve also been impressed with ENOVATIKA’s transparency and communication skills. We have regular ad hoc meetings over Google Meet as well as daily scrum meetings. Our main communication tool is Slack, and we get in sync with them all the time. 

We haven’t had any problems when it comes to understanding each other. On top of that, our chemistry has been good because we’re both fluent in the native Romanian language.

What did you find most impressive about them?

ENOVATIKA is quite good at clarifying requirements. That has been important for us because sometimes we also don’t know what we want. With their questions, we’re able to figure out together what needs to be done.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There have been some hiccups during our engagement, but they’ve been very small. We’ve had communication issues, but we’ve gradually improved them. It’s not only their team’s fault but our internal engineers as well. However, we’re thankful that they’re open to constructive feedback and that they continue to strive to improve all the time.

Be open-minded and don’t micromanage ENOVATIKA in any way. They’re at their best when you give them freedom.

As an early-stage startup, quantifying our success can be challenging. However, the most important indicator for us at this stage is the confirmation that we have developed a solid product, on time and with original budget. We have received positive feedback from our users and through our testing sessions, which reassures us that we are on the right track.

This has developed into an ongoing relationship, where we're now using one full time resource that does frontend development, as well as a design resource at 20%. Most of the work has been spec work, but a substantial amount of the developer work has also been a result of developer initiatives that have been very well appreciated.
