eFisco undertook a comprehensive project to design and develop a mobile application for wildfire mitigation sensors. This application needed to display sensor data on a map, showing real-time parameters such as temperature, humidity, and smoke levels. The scope of their work included creating a user-friendly interface, integrating real-time mapping of sensor locations, and developing data visualization tools to display sensor data over time.

They also implemented a notifications system for critical sensor readings, secure login and user management features, and ensured seamless integration with our existing sensor data backend. Additionally, they conducted thorough testing to guarantee the app's reliability and performance.

The project's success was evident in several measurable outcomes. Firstly, the app was developed and deployed within the agreed timeframe, demonstrating eFisco's efficiency. While eFisco performed exceptionally well overall, there is always room for improvement. One area they could enhance is their post-launch support. Although they provided initial support and troubleshooting, extending this period or offering a more comprehensive post-launch support package could be beneficial.

Furthermore, incorporating more user feedback during the development phase could further refine the final product. Addressing these areas could help eFisco elevate their already high standards of service and support.

This project evolved over time, starting with a proof of concept that evolved into an MVP, and now have multiple product offerings in-use across numerous commercial organizations.

As all software projects go, there is always the potential for changing priorities and scope creep. They managed these challenges well, and were honest and upfront about how the requested changes would impact the project timelines and associated cost. Working with them feels more like having a development partner rather than just managing a vendor.

The vendor team helped us all the way from coming up with innovative ideas for how the website should look and feel, till the actual designing and developing work of the platform.

There were multiple sessions where we discussed our design ideas with the team working on the design aspect of our website and there was a constant exchange and feedback session between our teams.

The key deliverables were met on a timely basis and as per our expectations. We were pleased with the results produced by the vendor team.

To support us with the bootstrapping thing.online's first product release (https://thing.online).

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

By word of mouth. Efisco was recommended by a trusted friend.

Lead by our Lead Developer, they supported us in developing the first product release of thing.online, a SaaS for effortless virtual workshops. A prototype of thing.online needed to be taken and transformed for release with a minimal feature set.

They were involved in design, implementation and testing of sign-up, sign-in, user landing page, virtual MeetingSpaces with social video chat capability. This included frontend, backend and AWS infrastructure work.

Working in 2-week Scrum Sprints, they worked on autonomously on stories from concept all the way through to delivery under guidance of our Lead Developer. The tech stack we utilized during this time was JavaScript/TypeScript, Vue.js, Pixi.js, Express.js, Node.js, Jest, AWS, MongoDB, socket.io, Tailwind and LiveSwitch.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We had 2 Jr. Web Developers on the team full-time during the complete project duration.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The outcome was as expected, our first product increment was released in the first week of November 2020, with the feature set we had envisioned. As is usual in Scrum, the deliverables were incremental and were committed on a daily basis.

Their learning curves (technical, our working style, new team, new domain, startup speed) was fast. Without their support we wouldn't have been able to achieve our goal in such a short period of time.

We used Scrum. They had to self-manage the Stories they selected during a Sprint with Daily coordination with the rest of the team and mainly our Lead Developer. That went pretty well from day one, with the usual hickups you'd expect when estimating your work efforts needs to happen in a new domain with new technology.

Our communication was in English and we very quickly established a transparent and trustful communication, following a proper onboarding.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

From day one, efisco supported us to make this first project happen, even though we were in the middle of our startup company's founding process. Even though some of the usual things you need for doing business across borders, like a VAT number for example, were not available when we started to work together.

But this never was a problem and we could keep our ambitious timeline thanks to efisco's support and willingness to make things happen.

No, not really!
