I work as a product manager for Figo. We offer an API that helps other companies implement banking-like features. Customers can use our API to aggregate and utilize financial data.

Multi-banking aggregation is one of our biggest use cases. We do offer specific solutions for specific use cases, but mostly provide a banking-as-a-service API.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Edisonda?

The Revised Payment Service Directive (PSD2) is currently a big issue in Europe. For the first time, we were required to build a product with a user interface. Until now, our main product was an API, but in 2018 many of our non-licensed partners will have to move toward a user interface product that we host ourselves because of licensing issues. We didn’t have the in-house experience or knowledge to build a UI or design a whole experience.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our challenge was less about creating an interface and cosmetic elements than it was about designing the user experience. Edisonda is good at that.

What is the team composition?

I got involved with the project towards its end. We directly contacted one of their managing directors, and we had a few designers and a project manager.

How did you come to work with Edisonda?

I had good experience with their team while working for another company, so I reached out them. From the first meeting, I knew they would be the right partner for us. We were focusing on the user experience, not just designing the UI. We didn’t consider anyone else for that specific problem.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Edisonda between September and December 2017. We’re currently closing and moving in other directions that are related to this project. Edisonda’s design work during this time was conceptual.

They’re in touch with a few other companies that work together to implement some of their designs. We’re working to get their concepts implemented on our systems.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I give them 5/5 stars for the design work. I’m really happy with the results. They also had the right expertise. They’ve been involved in some recent financial projects, which helped them complete the work correctly.

We don’t have direct feedback from end-users, but we’ve gotten a first round of feedback from our customers. We have a B2B2C setup where the frontend built by Edisonda will be used by our partner’s customer’s systems. There is direct exposure to end-customers, and their feedback has been very good.

How did Edisonda perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve had to postpone a few items because we weren’t ready. They were flexible in planning the designers’ schedules. I’m very happy with their project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’ve appreciated their exploratory approach to user experience. One of the advantages to working with Edisonda is that they do a lot of the actual user research and testing. They use knowledge gained from other projects to deliver great results.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Clients should consider the benefits and value that Edisonda can deliver. Many times, companies don’t think outside the box about their real UX challenges.

They only think about the UI components, but a product’s user experience can be improved a lot through experimentation. I would approach Edisonda with an open mind and ask how else they can help.

I’m a product manager for FuturMaster, a French developer working on supply-chain and event-planning software. Our solution can be used across different types of industries.

What challenge were you trying to address with EDISONDA?

We had an outdated UI that needed to be refreshed. Our software is quite complex, with multiple configuration options and numbers and graphs to be displayed on the screen. Our aim was to make this information easier to view at a glance.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

EDISONDA worked with us on identifying the main focus points for our users and creating a more streamlined interface. They also helped with design work when we began a large project that involved changing our UX and moving to a web-based solution.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a graphic designer and a project manager on the initial assessment of our software, identifying customer needs and creating relevant solutions. There were two other members in the background, working on icon design and other elements. Later on, EDISONDA assigned one UX and one graphic designer for the web-based version of our app.

How did you come to work with EDISONDA?

One of our employees had worked with them for another company and had a good experience. We didn’t have a lot of time to make a choice given that we were very busy with project planning. Getting a good recommendation for EDISONDA convinced us to move forward.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost of their services was between $10,000–$25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with EDISONDA from February to September 2017.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We started the project with a general assessment of our platform, however, we encountered a lot of technical constraints. This meant that the designs made by EDISONDA couldn’t differ too much from what we had before. This presented a challenge for their team, but they proved eager to interact with us and came back with alternative solutions quickly.

How did EDISONDA perform from a project management standpoint?

We never had communication or deadline issues with their team. The project was intended to run for two months, but it was extended to six because of issues with our internal development team. EDISONDA never delivered late, though.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were interested in learning the needs of our customers, which made the interaction with their team very enjoyable. The brought a lot of relevant questions to the table.

I am the CEO of Wingu. We're an app development company that provides location-based services.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with EDISONDA?

We needed basic graphic design for our corporate identity. We had built a browser and mobile application, and we needed someone for our UI design, as well as graphic design for these two elements.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They worked on the frontend design and UX for the application. We had built something that wasn’t on the market previously, so we’re a classic start-up with new technology. We deliver content based on someone’s exact location, so they had to come up with ideas of how to present that content and how to structure it. From the UX and graphics perspective, it was a challenge.

For UX they used Axure to create wireframes. For the graphic design, they mainly used all the Adobe products such as Photoshop and InDesign. They helped us to think outside the box, and gave us advice as they saw fit. 

What is the team composition?

My main point of contact was one of the managers. He introduced the project and did the first workshops with us. We also worked with two UX designers and had two graphic designers on board who supported the graphic design. The project managers kept the project together, but we mainly communicated directly to the specialists.

How did you come to work with EDISONDA?

We were referred to them. We usually only hire companies which we know of from someone else. They were four or five different companies that pitched on the project, but we decided to move forward with EDISONDA because they had personal contact and we were close to them in the beginning. They also had the best ideas to some of our very specific problems.

How much have you invested in them?

We spent close to €50,000 ($61,550 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from January of 2016 until November of 2017.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were very happy with them. For this particular project, we received a lot of positive comments on the design and won a design award for it.

How did EDISONDA perform from a project management standpoint?

We had no issues at all. We’re an agency, so we know how to handle projects. They have project managers on their side, but we don’t usually use them as we manage the project ourselves. The people we’re in contact with always deliver on time, which is why we continue to work with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The fact that they react so fast is impressive. Sometimes we would need something really urgently, and they could immediately find the resources to complete what we need. They aren’t a big company, but they are solid, with have several designers and UX people. They always come through with a solution, and they don’t make it complicated.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

As a technology company, the most important thing is something we call ‘development driven design.’ If you just let designers do whatever they want, they can go crazy and deliver something that the technical people struggle to build, meaning it becomes very costly and complicated. Development driven design is something that we came up with EDISONDA where the developers have an influence on the design so the design can perform in the end.

Edisonda helped us redesign one of our largest internal, revenuing-driving systems. The total work spanned numerous indepentent projects, totaling 1000's of hours of work.  Edisonda performed everything from simple UX designs for quick fixes, to indepth user research, competitive analysis, and complete system UX redesigns.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We reduced end-to-end user workflow time by >33%. We increased the System Usability Scale score from 62 to 82.  We automated nearly 3000hrs/yr of manual work.

Since August 2020 we’ve been working together (Allex with Edisonda team) on the research and design field. Edisonda team have prepared a new design of the platform and conducted a user research study.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Thanks to user study we've understood a lot better our target customers, helping us to address our services better to them. In UI and UX area we've improved a lot user experience and reduced help desk complains to almost 0.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Work flow was very smooth. I appreciated EDISONDA's commitment to the set goals. Thanks to regular feedback and at hoc calls we heve removed any block in project flow as soon as possible.
