I’m a department director for a digital content agency. We create digital content for all kinds of industries.

What challenge were you trying to address with Motionvillee?

We had a tight deadline for an animation project, and our pipeline was already full. We needed an outside partner to help us meet the deadline.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we talked with Motionvillee about their company’s capabilities and general rates. We had to get a feel if they could take this on or not.

Motionvillee created storyboards for three different animations. Once those were approved, they animated all videos. The team sent us updates at different phases of the production. For example, when they’d have a rough cut, they’d send it. We’d give them notes, and they’d send the updated edit, which we’d share with the client to collect more notes. Ultimately, Motionville would make all the adjustments to match the end client’s brand standards.

They first reached out via LinkedIn, and we had a call with them over a year ago. When this project came up, I reached out to them with details about the deadline and the milestones we had to hit.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The videos aren’t live yet, but Motionvillee was able to match the brand standards. The client was looking at a specific style, and the team adjusted their style to match it.

Moreover, their quality was top-notch. In fact, Motionvillee had to bring their quality down because they were doing advanced animation that this end client shied away from. It was interesting to see them deliver a better product than what our client actually wanted.

Overall, the experience was pleasant, and the results were on brand, target, and time. Motionville was overqualified.

How did Motionvillee perform from a project management standpoint?

Initially, we communicated through email. Once the project started, we moved over to Basecamp, which was the platform they used to track their projects’ progress. We also had phone calls to review how the process was going.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review? 

I spoke with Poorvi (Project Manager) and Shruti (Production Manager) the most. However, everybody we dealt with was professional and prompt. They responded to all our notes, messaged us properly, and accommodated everything we requested.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their speed was impressive. We had a super tight deadline, and they were able to deliver on time, which was our main concern. Even when we had unexpected notes, Motionvillee could roll with the punches.

No, nothing comes to mind. They were great.

Be open to clear communication and collaboration. If you can come in with an idea of the style you want and the deadlines you need to meet, the better chance they have to hit the target the first time.

We wanted to create awareness video on metabolic fitness and how it affects human health. We reached to Motionvillee team to create an awareness video for our company. We shared our script with them and they came up with a strong concept for a five minute video to explain various aspect and informational content. Since this topic was complex and involve a lot of technical explanation, we chose this to be created in 2D motion graphics format for the ease of understanding.

We have a worked with Motionville on several projects and they are very talented and easy to communicate with so it was an easy choice to go back to them for this project.

For this particular project we provided that video files, as well as illustrator files with animation instructions for the Motionville team to implement. The motionville team also had to use their own creative license to help make things look better and transition well. They also had to make some creative changes to the illustrator files.

My project manager is Shruti (she is great). The feedback process is pretty straightforward. All of the projects are hosted on Basecamp and feedback is given directly there.

Our end client was super happy with the final result.

I am an assistant professor of psychology at a state university. I design and test prevention programs and interventions for anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I hired Motionville to create 10 brief (~1-3 minute) animated videos to use in an Internet-based postpartum onset distress prevention program.

What were your goals for this project?

My goals were to provide examples of mom's suffering from postpartum onset anxiety and show how they worked through their problems using cognitive-behavioral skills.

How did you select this vendor?

I searched online for animation companies. I picked 4 companies as finalists and discussed ideas, budget, and timeline with each of them. Motionville was able to meet my needs better than the other companies. Also, they seemed like they would be great to work with interpersonally.

I spoke with a gentleman from the company (Arun Acharya) via Skype multiple times to discuss the project and what I wanted. I provided Motionville with a written script and voice overs for each of the videos. I also provided brief descriptions of each of the characters and what I wanted to see in each of the videos.

The Motionville team created character designs and story boards for my videos. They regularly asked for my feedback and always quickly incorporated my requested edits. Once I was happy with story boards, they began animating the videos. They were quick at creating my videos, and incorporating my feedback.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

I was asked to provide feedback every step of the way through a website called Basecamp 3. After I provided feedback, the team would provide me with an expected date of completion and always followed through with requested changes promptly.

Motionvillee have created several animated videos for us. Their process is streamlined, starting with a sketch storyboard, a full graphic illustration board, animation and sound effects. They allow revisions throughout and are quick to respond.

Motionvillee communicate everything through Basecamp, which makes the project run very smoothly. We would communicate through specific cards in basecamp to keep the conversations streamlined and relative to the specific part of the process. Much better than endless email chains.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Motionvillee have consistently delivered on time, even for projects with very tight deadlines. They are always willing to adapt in order to deliver for a client, both in the way they produce the videos and the tools, software, and resources they use.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective. Our project managers would communicate regularly through basecamp, and motionvillee’s staff would update us on deliverables, progress, and any obstacles.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

It’s their ability to adapt in order to deliver projects at very tight deadlines is impressive. When other vendors have said no, motionvillee took the challenge and were able to get the job done (often ahead of schedule) without a sacrifice in quality.

The final product is always very good, though projects usually require a few rounds of quality assurance before the deliverables can be sent to a client. These are always minor things and motionvillee are very quick and very willing to respond to these.

The videos are typically 90 seconds, but we’ve done a wide range of lengths for our clients, ranging from 45 seconds to five minutes.

We met them on a freelancer site a few years ago. I hired them to do our company’s explainer video, and they did an excellent job. From there, I decided to hire them as our go-to provider for design and animation.

We’ve seen amazing results from the videos they’ve produced for us. We’ve received about 50 client testimonials speaking to how spectacular we are, and a lot of that can be attributed to Motionvillee’s design work. 

How did Motionvillee perform from a project management standpoint?

We interact directly with the team through Basecamp, so they let us know when everything is delivered through that. The process they have in place works really well—their team works directly with our project manager through the software. Their project manager also looks over all the work and communicates with us; they’re highly responsive. I also have a weekly Skype call with Arun to ensure our two teams are strategically aligned. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciate their vision—their work is spectacular because they’ve got big goals and ideas. Everything they do is great, from their creativity and flexibility to wanting to evolve their company. I always want to work with businesses that are looking to grow. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’d like it if the projects ran quicker, but the bottleneck does come from the client-side. We’re always trying to improve and deliver faster, so that’s all I can think of. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Let them take the lead. If you get too involved and micromanage the project, you won’t be able to take advantage of their great vision. The more you meddle, the more it’ll take away from the final product.

I’m the owner of Clarity Animations. We produce animated explainer videos, mostly for tech startups in the United States and Europe.

I wanted to contract the production of our animated videos to an outside service provider. After finding that several previous providers we not a good fit for my company, we needed a new partner. When I was introduced to Motionvillee, all of our problems were solved.

Each time we have a new client, I handle the script and the voiceover. The storyboard, illustration, and animation responsibilities are all handed over to Motionvillee. The final videos that we produce range from 20 seconds to two minutes in length.

Typically, I have one point of contact in addition to their owner. They handle all of the project management on their end, so I don’t have to worry about it. My main point of contact has changed over the course of the relationship, but I’ve built a strong personal relationship with the owner of the company.
