I am part of founding team for LFC Digital Solutions Private Limited - a startup working on building a B2B platform and my current role is to get the beta of the platform/products built and released

We had a functional UI for one of our first products and the users/clients were fine using it. However, when we looked at the overall platform (with multiple apps) that needed to be built, we felt that we needed a much better UI/UX, something that is in line with prevalent design standards. We lacked this capability internally. We hired Divami Design Labs to help us re-structure the UI (for an existing product for web and mobile) in a better way and also to help with user research and design framework for the future platform and apps.

We researched within our network and got Divami's reference - this was advance research to line up partners that we could work with as our startup took shape. We couldn't quite find the right opportunity to work with Divami for almost a few years. However, from the initial interactions, we were keen to engage with them when the right project came along

-UI Redesign Project-

1. team clearly explained their approach - which involved detailed research and understanding of the current product, the user roles, personas
2. This was followed by an assessment of the different pages/transitions/complexity involved in addressing these pages
3. followed by laying out the base framework (visual) and iteratively working on it with regular reviews to refine it
4. Working through the page designs and delivering the final output
5. working with our development team for clarifications or minor adjustments
6. doing a review of the revised UI before it is released to our clients
7. We also engaged with Divami for development of new UI for one independent part of the product.

Our team handled the backend APIs etc.

  • This was a different project where a lot of time and effort went into understanding our platform, upcoming products, our philosophy for the product, meeting a cross-section of potential users and then consolidating that learning into a base framework, which can be used later to build the UI/UX

We had a project manager for each of the projects. Depending on the project phase, we worked with 1-2 UI/UX designers along with the project manager.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

working with Divami Labs helped us immensely in bringing out a cleaner, better structured UI/UX. Couldn't have done it without them. Adoption of new UI is always a challenge, especially when users are used to an existing UI. While we made all efforts for a smooth transition, there is always a period of discomfort for users to switch over. However, post that stabilization phase, our clients are overall happy using the app with the new UI.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Divami has a structured project planning, execution team structure, weekly reviews, overall thought and effort behind understanding the requirement and coming up with the layouts etc. This helped us in understanding the nuances of how to approach UI/UX. It also helped us plan project deliverables better with our development teams and set proper expectations with our clients. The project managers were approachable and responsive to feedback. Any potential delays were communicated to us.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Overall - it has been a great experience working with Divami Labs The team puts in a lot of time and effort in understanding the user personas, the apps and the company (us) to find the right approach. The design team has strong opinions on the visual structure of elements, backed up by their experience and rationale. This is important as it helps bring alignment or middle ground on the path to take on the UI/UX for the apps Project tracking, scheduling and reviews are done as per plan

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Sometimes, some visual elements from previous UI help users to relate/adopt better. while visually they may impact some balance with new UI, it is necessary for adoption. Therefore, at times, some creative compromise and flexibility may be needed, especially when old UI is being replaced with new. Just an area of iteration and improvement.

Rockwell Collins was an MNC dealing with avionics and information technology systems and provided related services to government agencies and aircraft manufacturers. The company was bought over and now is part of Raytheon Technologies. The mission of the company is to transform and shape the future of the aerospace and defense sector.

I was the Principal System Engineer at the company during our engagement with Divami Design Labs. Now, I act as the Associate Director at Raytheon Technologies.

Using an asset tracker application, we wanted to transform and improve CIAL (Cochin International Airport) operations and assets management in 2018. Our business team was impressed with the extensive design strategy of Divami, making them our ideal partner for the design and development project associated with the plan.

We came across Divami and their portfolio through someone in our network who had previously worked with them.

We required a real-time asset tracking and monitoring application on the airport tarmac. Moreover, the application had to be adaptable so that the airport officials and executives of third parties can actively use it on a daily basis. We needed a real-time asset tracker system to notify the respective executives about the alerts and violations; which was obviously challenging.

However, with an open communication and feedback channel paired with their design and development domain expertise, Divami delivered on the desired results.

The team that worked with us had one UX and one UI designer. There was a design strategist in charge of the overall execution. When it came to development, the team consisted of a lead followed by two or three junior developers. Their project management team also worked closely with us to ensure smooth project delivery.

I would say, the platform was a success. One of the most noticeable changes was the reduction of violations by 30 percent compared to manual recording

The Divami team is best at what they do. Naturally, their communication and project handling process was effective. What we liked the most was their ability to constantly keep us in loop, take our feedback, and incorporate them into the next set of changes.

We did our research on various leading UI/UX companies, checked out their proposals, their portfolio and also spoke to their references. In the end, Divami was providing quality and value and we choose to go with them. Divami also presented to us on what they believe can be done better on our specific website which was a good way to close a deal.

Divami provided us with a detailed proposal and project timeline which stated the exact pages that will be revamped and the scope of the project which included desktop and mobile. The first stage involved a lot of user research where they contacted our clients, customers, and also suppliers and partners to understand what their insights and requirements are from the website.

They collated that info with what our team's input and also checked out our competition to see the market trends. Once that was done, we first started receiving the wireframes and then the UI designs once the wireframes were approved. It was a iterative process and they were open to a lot of feedback and changes based on regular weekly meetings

A team for 5 worked on our project who we interacted with directly. We had a UX designer, a UI designer, a project manager, a chief designer and an account manager as well.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We're happy with what was delivered. Our intial objective of a clear navigation, more interesting layout and easy enquiry process were met with this revamped design. We are currently in the process of completing the project as there were delays due to Covid and we intend to launch now which is the right time as travel is picking up now.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

As mentioned in an earlier point, we have regular communication. There were in person meetings and video calls regularly. They never missed a meeting timeline and were able to show us the work for that week. Any feedback was immediately noted, minutes were sent and changes incorporated without further delay or confusion.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their team is very sorted, and their process is well structured. It was a clear process which was communicated and the right expectations were set. They also had a very fresh view on the design.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There was one design on one page which was difficult to develop and we ended up shelving it as the cost of the getting it done was way higher than the result of it. So I think that can be considered while designing the pages to take into consideration the feasibility and cost of developing something.

I’m the general manager of iQuoteXpress. We’re a B2B software that specializes in proposal management. Our company has been around for almost 12 years.

Our software became outdated recently, and we’d been doing small fixes to it. We needed a major overhaul, so we hired Divami to help us with the workflow and visual elements. It was a complete UX/UI redesign.

Most of the time, they used file-sharing programs to show us the renditions and concepts they came up with. They used Figma for the project, and our developers worked with Divami to answer questions back and forth.

I worked with two contacts on a regular basis. Diya (Senior Lead UX Designer) was the project manager on the UX side, and Manoj (Senior UI Designer) was in charge of the UI, the graphical part.

We were not sure about our problem statement and we discussed with few premier UX / UI firm from India. We discussed with 5 UX company among top 10 in India and finally closed on Divami. Team Divami outlook and handholding of the subject is very different. Ideation and workaround to arrive at the project detail was very interesting and very innovative. We had basic principle of 3 steps. Any and every activity should be achieved in 3 Steps. Analyst from Divami did a fantastic job is getting us break through process converting complicated and multi task technicality to with very simplified design. Simplicity is the really Difficult right !! Thats what we achieved.

We had very cordial relationship. We had one point connect (Project manager) and we use to have two meeting every week. Ideation was time taking activity, once we could figure out the complete output and challenged and re-challenged the purpose to achieve the best, Rollout was systematic and very mechanical.

Their ability to come up with ideas and present the subject with a great amount of reality was impressive. Have interviewed, Meet with target segment they were so apt with customer expectation and it really surprised us. There was element of improvisation in almost everything which makes output complete.

We are really happy with output. Team is really grounded. They just look perfect to me. Managing Startup expectation is difficult specially when the founder are involved and i must say they did more than a fair job.

I was the CTO and overall owner of the platform. I was responsible for Products and Innovation for the company. I was leading and strategizing the platform revamp process and worked closely with the Divami Design Labs team.

For what projects/services did your company hire Divami Design Labs?

We were looking for a significant redesign of the platform to make it even more appealing to our user base. We wanted to improve the overall user experience by making navigation easy and the app intuitive. We wanted Divami to bring their expertise on B2B platforms to our platform and deliver a great user experience.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to reduce the turnaround time and complex navigation patterns that led to users missing contextual information and actions. Moreover, there was a lack of personalization as per user roles.

We wanted the user experience to be top-notch with all the required information readily accessible and the navigation to be smooth with a minimalistic design. We wanted the users to be able to carry out desired action with minimal effort and clicks. The overall complexity needed to be broken down through an appealing UI.

How did you select Divami Design Labs?

I worked with Divami when I was leading a financial products platform at a company I was with a couple of years ago. When we invited them to participate in the evaluation, our team was also fairly impressed with their expertise with Enterprise products and B2B platforms. Hence we decided they were the right partners for us for this redesign exercise.

The platform needed revamping to match the current industry standard and user expectations. We wanted the UX to be intuitive while the navigation pattern to be easy enough for a new user to enter and carry out the necessary task without any confusion.

The workflow should be simple and cater to individual user roles while avoiding information overload. We wanted Divami to introduce context-based support and personalization. A no-code platform needed to be as straightforward as it can be; and I am happy to say Divami delivered on it.

We worked with 3 designers - one for UX and two designers for UI, led by Divami’s chief design strategist.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The UX UI met our internal expectations beautifully. Even the users were really appreciative of the change and we noticed the user engagement metrics showing an upward trend. Also, this project gave us a great step into the UX standardization and Information Architecture process. Becoming a mature startup this was a big addition to help grow Innovapptive.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

In short, it was smooth. Even though they did take time in conducting user and market research, I think it benefitted us in the end.

They kept us in loop throughout the project - we were meeting them at least once or twice a week - making sure all our feedback is implemented. Process of working with their teams was very easy and always proactive which helps when you are in a fast paced environment.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

In my view, People, Process and Technology creates a great services company. Working with startups is always a challenge, given the fast pace and growth pains that the partner like Divami in this case had to go through.

The skillset of people and leadership supporting our vision and expectations was the most impressive thing for me. When there is a vision match everything else falls in place. Like I said, the UX and Information Architecture process was also an important thing from Innovapptive perspective.

Corpus" is an SDP - service delivery platform collaborating with multiple content companies, Telecom & Media delivery companies and devices delivering multiple Digital services like Triple play services, OTT, Gaming, Safety security, G2C services, Health and Education to millions of homes across the world.

Corpus SDP platform brings value to a broad spectrum of segments like Satellite TV Operators, State fiber grids, Telco's/ISP's, Cable MSO's and other FTTX operators. We have pioneered in creating integrated Video delivery systems along with content across any screen, any time and any place.

Some of the largest Satellite TV, Triple play and IPTV operators have chosen Video Corpus as their platform partner to deliver PayTV, Triple play and IPTV/OTT services with a road map to deliver multiple other digital services to homes.

I am the AVP- Sales & Marketing at Corpus in charge of business planning and expansion at the moment. Moreover, I deal with partnerships across Media & Entertainment, and Telecommunications verticals

For what projects/services did your company hire Divami Design Labs?

Our idea behind the Corpus ATV application was to have a complete OTT content delivery platform for Live TV viewing and on-demand Video and App store for value added services such as video communication, gaming and popular OTT platforms.

Naturally, we wanted the design to be simple and intuitive enough for anyone to work with it. So, we wanted Divami to design a world-class Android TV App that appealed to the Indian rural and urban markets alike, with a contemporary approach for the overall functionality of the app.

What were your goals for this project?

The idea is to create an immersive experience for the viewer with the key differentiator being the integration of Live TV (complete with channel surfing & program guides), educational and farming content along on-demand entertainment content.

We wanted an app that is currently targeted at the Indian market (rural being a key segment), while capable of appealing to the international audience as well. Moreover, it should comply with the Android TV standards. In the Indian family setting, the app needed to be lightweight with a very simplified navigation to appeal to the different age groups.

They came highly recommended through our network and the initial interaction with their design team went really well. After realizing the industry expertise and the satisfaction level of their other clients, we decided to partner with them on the project.

As mentioned, we wanted an ATV app that not only appealed to the subcontinent population but also met the high-quality international standard of the niche we function in.

With a world presence, we have a quality standard to adhere to as well. As the app needed to compile the best of education, entertainment, infotainment, gaming, and communication channels, the main target was not to overwhelm the user while maintaining the overall quality of the platform.

This is where the Divami team stepped up. They not only understood our goals but also conducted extensive user studies and analyzed patterns to ensure the design is easy to use and meets the needs of our end-users.

The team that worked closely with us consisted of two designers - one each for UX & UI; with their Chief Designer being involved in providing design strategy and guidance throughout the project. They also provided guidance and support to our internal team throughout the development lifecycle.

We are delighted with the outcome. The platform was received very well among our content partners. Moreover, we continue working with the Divami team to accommodate any branding or other changes required, whenever necessary.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Their team was a mix of young and Senior members and were open to listen and came up with fresh ideas and solutions. They worked as part of our team and not as an external vendor. The daily and weekly status updates were really helpful in making us understand the progress. The team also made sure to take our inputs and implement them in any design iteration.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Have great design team and can adapt well to newer requirements and new domains. Flexible and open to work with and the professionalism of Divami Design Labs' young team continues to impress me. They were reliable, on time, and treated the project as their own. I thoroughly enjoyed working with such a dedicated team.

I’m the director of innovation and business solutions for a healthcare solutions company. We specialize in digital applications and help companies achieve their goal for digital transformation by ensuring quality all the way through.

What challenge were you trying to address with Divami Design Labs?

We wanted to create a new product that addresses some of the existing gaps in the API testing space. For us to develop a new product, we wanted to have a good user experience design.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had some discussions with them and engaged their services for designing the user experience journey. They understood the application we were going to build to test APIs. 

They created the user journey for us. As part of this process, they created hand sketches, wireframes, and UI mockups. They used Zeplin for sketching all the UIs together to have a screen flow.

What is the team composition?

The project was led by Prathima (Chief Designer & Executive Director). There was also a day-to-day project management lead. I also interacted with their lead designer and one other person. I was in contact with 4-5 people. 

I also had the opportunity to speak to the founder & CEO because we were interested in developing a roadmap and seeing how they could help us in supporting our roadmap and the web product version as well.

How did you come to work with Divami Design Labs?

When we spoke to our senior management and leadership team, we were referred to Divami Design as being proficient in the particular segment we needed. Their attention to detail is fantastic. They’re very methodical in what they do.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project took place from June-October 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Early in our UX discussions, we came up with a one liner vision of what I want the application to do. The way they responded to that request and came up with thoughts on design around how the functionality could be achieved was simply outstanding and mind boggling and this happened on several occasions. 

Divami Design took the project to a level of sophistication that we didn’t originally imagine. They were truly professional and happy to challenge us in a very positive and creative way to explain why they thought the design we were proposing might not be the right fit.

How did Divami Design Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was alright, but something that could have been better. We originally anticipated a certain duration for the work to be done. We couldn’t finish it on time. The scope of the work also increased during the course of the project. 

In that perspective, they kept us informed in terms of how things were going and why they were delayed on the original timelines we were planning for. It took more time than we wanted but the output was good. The output we received justified the delay in the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They pay attention to detail. They really think about what our consumers will do, putting the product through a rigorous thought process. The team challenges whatever we say if they think it’s not the right thing. They’re very keen to what our needs are. 

At times we may not state the requirements very explicitly but they would help us bring out those unstated, hidden requirements. They would put a lot of thought behind how the user experience should be and came up with a very attractive and compelling UX design for the user journey.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Managing the delivery expectations could have been better. It was good but it’s one area we could improve. The delays and extra work needed could have been notified a bit earlier. The communication around it could have been more frequent and transparent.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You can trust in the quality you’re going to receive. They’ll amaze you with the quality. The only advice is to have a pragmatic approach towards timelines. I went with tight timelines and in hindsight, I may have done wrong as well because I had underestimated the time needed for the work to be done.
