First thing I can mark is rapidness, since they provided us with really good specialists within just a couple of days after we started communication. I thank the DevKit managers and developers who were assigned for the great work we made together, since the task of delivering a platform from scratch and building an MVP that should be presented to investors is a very responsible task not anyone can be trusted to do, but we trusted these guys and they didn't let us down.

• About 2 years ago, during our work with a past vendor (they tried to supply us with Python & React.js engineers as we were growing fast and was in need to build a lot of new functionality for our VR-platform), we decided that their approaches are not what we are going to work on a long-term basis. At that time, we received numerous bad-prepared candidates to be interviewed in our company. We had a bad experience with quality’ control (when an engineer basically disappeared for 2-3 hours from Slack during the working process and we had not been aware where he is), the management side from our previous supplier was also terrible (they did not have an understanding which kind of services we need, which developers we want to have on-board, which time management we should follow with them, and etc. We started searching for a new company we may work with, and some day we found DevKit. These guys were not too large companies at that time, probably about 20-25 people, but they had a very clear understanding of how to bring their clients happiness. We clarified the initial requirements to the development team we need to hire, and started our recruitment process. We could not believe our eyes, but the 1st engineer we did the interview with - had successfully passed all the process and became the core Python Engineer of the whole team then. Our product has started activity since 2018, so, we’re 6 years on the market. We’re using Python (Django) on the back-end side and React.js/TypeScript/GraphQl on the front-end, the VR-department is using C#, Unity3D, MRTK 2.7.x. We have a DevOps orchestration engineer, UX/UI Designer who is working with Sketch, Figma and Product Design in total. The development process is divided by milestones for 2 weeks of each one. 
We do not have key deliverables for now since our product is in the active production stage and we are basically doing the support as well as adding new functionality, which we received from a customer experience background. It means that we are analyzing the customer’ feedback and when we see that we may upgrade our product - we will convert this feedback(s) into the scope of the feature to implement then.
Recently, we have been attending a large conference in Nevada and signed a couple of very good clients, so, we are supposed to extend the list of new functionality and will be onboard a couple of QA engineers who will be testing the possibility to work with 1M+ users per month.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

DevKit shows his great expertise to deliver our features in time. About 1.5 years ago, when we were working on a lot of features / deliverables, we had demo sessions each 1.5-2 months. Even in terms of such often demo events, all the development team from DevKit provided the tasks / solutions in time and even ahead of this (which was a big surprise).
One of the most measurable outcomes, when we were planning a new functionality of the VR platform we are using and should have been presented at a big conference in the USA, our core Unity Engineer (which we hired from DevKit) prepared an absolutely unbelievable demo session which we were amazed by. 
He did his work great and added some modern features into our platform such as Machine Learning (ML) to structure a lot of raw moting data and optimize memory by applying LODs. This allow us to present our product on a high level and attract about15 new customers from the USA and Canada.

DevKit is working very tight and smoothly, we are not feeling any pressure from his side and they’re always carefully hearing what we want to bring on a paper and which results we want to achieve with their team. We are also having communication within the cooperation process, about 1-2 times per week which is defined as a sync. call between us. 
We are discussing the current development status there, team performance, and any challenges we may have from time to time. In terms of the development team, we’re using Slack for all the communication and Trello for task management.

These guys have a super-vision on how to help their clients. We never met any serious issues within any topic’ discussions we had with them. Their management side always cared about the engineers they provided to us, they suggested very good social package terms, comfortable working conditions and possibility for professional growth (internal training, hackathon, etc). 
We’re happy with this approach and we like the style of the communication we have with DevKit, they are asking about all of the aspects of the development features we’re building and how they may help us better deliver features in time. Absolutely love it.

Are there any areas for improvement or something DevKit could have done differently?

Probably, the only suggestion where DevKit may be operating better and probably more accurately is to manage the holiday policy of the employees more carefully, because we met a case when an engineer has taken a national day-off by a Ukrainian calendar, since we were working by our local USA schedule with all of the employees. 
There was just one case, so that is not a problem at all. In all the other working aspects, we’re happy to have such a professional and mature development partner as DevKit.

I have worked as a Lead Software Architect on this product. My main responsibilities were full control of on-site and remote development teams as well as set-up a further product vision on the market. I have been involved in interviewing candidates and defined the product’ growth plan.

We were hiring a development team from DevKit to add them to the on-going development phase of our product. The main purpose of hiring top-notch developers was the extension of our current in-house team which was too small initially (only two engineers). We had a strong intention to grow our development team with very experienced guys who will help us to enhance the list of features we settled on and to help us jump on the next investment round.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We were choosing from many European based vendors and very scrupulously took the final decision. The main factor why we chose working with DevKit is a really outstanding level of software developers which DevKit proposed us. All of the guys we moved through our recruitment process had a Fluent English level (it is important as we are all English-speaking) as well as had an excellent technical background. Meanwhile, one of the factors why we go ahead with DevKit is absolutely client-orienter management spirit, all negotiations were very professional and what is most important - the team was completed pretty fast without losing the quality!

Our main product stack is Python on the back-end and React.js / TypeScript on the front-end. Also, we were using Machine Learning for some list of specific features. This technical direction has been chosen together with DevKit and we were really happy with that choice. The full development had been started almost from zero, so we had full freedom of actions at that stage.

The whole process was divided into 2 weeks sprints, which were permanently revised in terms of adding additional features in parallel. We had daily meetings and one core meeting at the end of each week to define what the process is going to be. DevKit really helps us to go in the right direction and guys performed the best quality code we have ever seen before.

We started from 3 people initially and expanded the whole team up to 8 people within the half year. To be more detailed, there have been 3 back-end engineers, 2 front-end engineers, 1 machine learning expert, 1 product designer and 1 devops. We had only 1 product owner from our side who were basically in charge of product development control and conducted regular sprint plannings / demo meetings / retrospectives / etc.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Describing the achievements of our initial results - the deliverables had been done not only in time, but really two weeks earlier and ahead of our primary schedule. The main factor how we see that is a regularly meetings with our investment board who were telling us that we are going pretty quickly. DevKit’ team performed pretty well and we even had a chance to implement new features from another scope at that time which was a good surprise.

The very important point for us is the great communication level of the whole development team. We are based in the USA time zone and this is why we were a little bit skeptical how we will manage the communication with EU-based folk. In spite of that, the management style had been very professional and with respect to our on-going comments and requests about the come-up features. We communicated using Slack, GitHub and JIRA. Also, all planned deadlines were absolutely met by DevKit’ team.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We had a really strong and great team of guys who know what they should do. The total control from our Product Owner was pretty loyal as we were sure that the DevKit team provided us with a great product develop,kent quality. Also, we were very happy by the highest level of communication and we even became a friends with some of DevKit’ team guys which is also a good indicator for us and for all future partners who will be working with DevKit.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

In spite of the whole development process was really amazing and we were pretty satisfied - there were some missing points in the final documentation, but it was also because of a few changes to the final points from our investment board, so, it is not fully because of DevKit. In total, we were amazingly satisfied with the final quality of our product and even paid bonuses to DevKit’ team members for their exciting work. To finalize, our product achieved the next investment round with awards from our investors, so, the whole feedback is certainly positive.

I’m a Tech Lead at a multi-branding e-commerce company with headquarter in Montreal, Canada. I was responsible for the development of our modern digital b2b product-oriented to e-commerce brands and business owners all over the world.

We have worked with DevKit from the start of the development phase when one of our in-house core devs decided to leave the team at the crucial moment of starting a new development phase and we had only done the backend at that moment. We were ready for building a modern front end with the best UI/UX practices from scratch, but we haven’t had available specialists to start.

After DevKit’s manager reached us through Linkedin and shared the CV of the appropriate candidate. We started with a trial period and test task for each candidate and after the end of period 1 week, we compared results. The candidate from DevKit made the best job and provided us with the most perfect Frontend part and cleanly written code.

At the very beginning of our work, we worked with DevKit using only one Senior developer for the FE part and he was responsible mostly for the development. He was responsible for the implementation of perfect FE with tight cooperation with our Designer and connected the FE part to the done BE smoothly through the API, for the Frontend was used React.js with TypeScript. After a couple of months, we have gotten to the crucial question of rebuilding our backend with optimization processes of data search and parsing through the BE algorithms.

As a plus, the contract with our BE developer was ended so after a short search on our own we decided to use DevKit services a second time to hire a Senior Python developer familiar with Python, FastAPI, SQL Alchemy, Elasticsearch and AWS. They provided us with the perfect candidate after only a second interview, so he passed the short test task successfully and we started to work with him. After some work after we had to speed up the work on the Python backend implementation because of our investors so we decided to simplify the work of the Python-Dev by adding a Data Backend engineer to the team. DevKit proposed to us the candidate and from the first interview, we already decided to hire this candidate too because of the perfect background and experience that fitted our expectations 100%.

She worked mostly with Data scraping and using Python Scrapy technologies. After up to a month we got the first funds from our investors and more features list, so we had to increase our team, since we were pleased with the DevKit candidates we wanted to ask them for help with this question. We hired an additional Frontend / Markup specialist because of simplifying work with the design for the FE guy and increasing the speed of his work with new screen features implementation. Also, we have added an additional Backend Python developer who is familiar with FastApi and ElasticSearch to speed up the work of the backend team on our new backend part.

All guys were perfect and took part in the development process with 100% involvement and interest in achieving our goals and results. In addition in the final stages of our product development process, DevKit provided us with a great QA engineer who handled all the product test processes with Manual and Auto Testing approaches and it improved the quality of our product very much.

We worked with 6 guys from DevKit’s side, 1 Senior React Developer, 1 Frontend Markup specialist, 1 Python Data Specialist, 1 Senior Python Developer, 1 Middle Python Developer, and 1 Middle QA engineer. Other team members, such as the Product Owner, Designer and Data Analytics specialist were on our side.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were very pleased with the work provided by DevKit’s guys. Each sprint guys shared with us realistic deadlines, which helped us to plan our presentations with investors. Guys helped us not miss our deadlines, each time we had to improve the development process they provided us with relevant candidates we expected to get. Their FE specialist did really pixel-perfect work and provided our designer with some ideas on how to improve the UX experience. What’s moreover priceless is that their Backend developer had enough experience to recreate Backend structures made with Flask from scratch by using a faster FastAPI framework and we avoided that painful moment when the system becomes broken because of changing development specialists. After cooperation with their team, we achieved our main goal, represented our product to the world and get the series of investments we expected from our investors.

All the communication with them was pretty smooth. We were able to add their developers to our internal team sources, such as Slack, Figma and Notion and talk with them directly as with our internal team members. Each developer took part in our daily calls and weekly meetings with sprint planning. Regarding all the organizational questions we kept our connection with the manager from DevKit’s side, by using Skype and email.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We were really impressed with the way of communication and problem-solving used by these guys. In the beginning, we were afraid about the quality of work because of the time differences, but to sum up, that was really impressive, we didn’t meet any issues with overlap work-time management, because of time differences between Europe and Canada. The Guys worked with a 5-hours overlap permanently. As for DevKit’s manager, sometimes we had a feeling that he lived in the Canadian timezone, not in Poland, so the speed of his responses was really high. We really like the way they manage their communication with their clients.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Although in total all the work done by the guys was perfect from the technical part, sometimes we had to discuss with them some updates in prices because of market changes in their internal business area. It wasn’t a critical increase for us and we were okay to pay the extra price for really good developers, but as any customer, we would rather prefer that prices from the start of our work do not change during whole our cooperation without any raises.
