There was no escalation process when issues piled up—no one took ownership of fixing systemic communication failures.
As a result, our internal resources and investor relationships were strained, and launch timelines blew out.

Bottom Line: Assigning a nominal PM who only “looks busy” is worse than having no PM at all. For mission‑critical, custom projects, you need rigorous daily check‑ins, clear escalation paths, and a PM who actually owns the timeline and quality—otherwise you’ll end up repeating the same mistakes and wasting everyone’s time.

The initial spark and personal rapport (especially with Ravi) were the project’s only bright spots. Beyond that, lack of real project management, repeated delays, and low‑quality deliverables turned a promising engagement into a frustrating, time‑wasting ordeal.

Last year, we partnered with Developer Bazaar Technologies to build a car auction platform tailored for the MENA region CAR-ARBAB. At the beginning, everything looked promising. The founders—especially Ravi seemed energetic, confident, and genuinely passionate about delivering something impactful. They even showed interest in expanding into the UAE, and I supported them wherever I could during the project.

But unfortunately, the delivery side of the partnership fell apart.

From project kickoff to execution, there were several issues:

Lack of Real Project Management
We were assigned a single PM who’d occasionally message me and sometimes schedule a call—usually when milestones were already missed. There was no structured tracking, no follow-ups, and no accountability. The team didn’t give me visibility or confidence in the project’s progress.

Repeated Delays & Poor Communication
A 3.5-month timeline turned into 7+ months just for a first version—riddled with bugs. I explained everything clearly, sometimes in their native language to bridge the gap, but even then, mistakes were repeated.

Escalation to Founders Was the Only Option
I found myself having to reach out directly to the founder, not because I wanted to—but because the team wasn’t responsive or proactive. As a client, I shouldn’t have to chase the top-level founders just to get basic updates or fixes.

Excuses Over Execution
Budget discussions kept coming up—even though pricing had already been agreed upon. I was told resources were tied up in other projects, which made me question their commitment to our delivery.

Design Delivery Was Off
The only thing that came out decent was the UX—and that too, because I personally guided their designer. But even then, the frontend implementation didn’t reflect the original designs. Incorrect paddings, inconsistent layouts it lacked polish and precision

In Summary:

I genuinely liked the team at the start and believed in their potential. But good energy isn’t enough without accountability and execution. Our timelines, team trust, and investor expectations were all impacted. If you’re considering working with Developer Bazaar, I’d strongly advise setting very clear deliverables, weekly status updates, real project ownership, and performance-based timelines—otherwise, you risk getting caught in the same cycle we did.

The measurable outcomes included the successful completion of the MVP, timely integration of key features like prayer requests and notifications, and positive user feedback from the key stakeholders regarding the app’s usability.

Developer Bazaar Technologies was very proactive in their project management. There was ongoing colloboration on slack and all requests were quickly reponded to. They met all major deadlines and were responsive to our feedback - the requested changes were also quickly addressed and resolved.

I found that this company had worked on other projects for NGO and were also had high ratings. They were able to collect the requirements and come back with detailed documentation in a short timeframe.
