I’m the founder and head of business development for a portfolio of websites, mainly in the education and entertainment verticals.

We acquired a few websites that ran on very antiquated code and needed to be completely migrated.

What were your goals for this project?

They needed to migrate the websites to Drupal 8 while maintaining the URL structure, and all reviews and articles.

We searched vendors via popular freelancing websites. After interviewing a few potential agencies, we decided DevBranch was a good fit.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

For the first website, we provided them with an updated design and they completed the migration within a few months. That site featured a phpBB forum that we decided to keep separate. Currently, the first project is completed and they’re moving to a more complex migration that involves frontend and backend work. Since the website allows users to download files in different formats, the team has to migrate the file server to replicate the conversion functionality.

We had at least one developer throughout the project. DevBranch scaled the team up to four resources that worked concurrently on different projects.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

For the first website, the KPIs improved by more than 20%. We expect similar results for the other relaunch.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

They perform better than our previous remote development partners. The team speaks English well and accommodates us with how they use Slack, Trello, and Jira. They are responsive and professional in their approach.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We’re very impressed with their coding and overall quality. DevBranch has a deep understanding of the Drupal platform.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

We raised concerns over reporting issues early in the engagement and the team addressed them promptly. At this point, we’ve worked with them for more than one year and we are very satisfied with the relationship.

DevBranch is developing several projects for us. Currently, they’re creating the frontend and backend of our Drupal platform, which is our core business. This project involves workflows, Google Suite integration, calendar systems, intelligent forms, catalogs, and a multilingual communication tool using Google Translate.

We also asked them to create our corporate website, which has video integration, multiple languages, and a custom design. They also implemented an advanced login system using one-time code generation. Lastly, they set up our knowledge base, which includes an article library, search functions, and help desk integration.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The platform is still in development. Once we roll it out, we will be able to get new clients.

How effective was the project management?

We work within a Scrum project management environment, with over 90% of sprints delivered on time and within budget. Their project manager communicates well and gives input at the right moment. I also joined their team for a week to see how everything is organized.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their coding is top-notch and complies with Drupal standards. Instead of looking for easy workarounds, they push themselves to meet expectations.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not really. They are open to suggestions.

I'm the manager of web projects at Modern-Expo Group. The company has been supplying a wide range of equipment to the retail market for 23 years. The company’s history goes back to 1994 when two separate businesses, “Modern” from Ukraine and “Duet” from Poland, decided to join forces. In less than 25 years, we managed to grow into a large international group with major manufacturing facilities, including a total production area of 112,000 square miles and employing over 2,500 people.

We produce equipment for the following retail formats: supermarket and hypermarket, convenience store and gas station, DIY [Do It Yourself], cash and carry, electronics, storage solutions, food service, and drugstore.

What challenge were you trying to address with Dev Branch?

Last year, we decided to set up our own e-shop for processing equipment. After doing specifications and designs, we chose Dev Branch to handle the project. The main items we needed included a virtual shelf for our processing equipment with detailed descriptions, order processing without product manager intervention, private accounts for our clients and customized accounts for our VIP clients, and 1C accounting integration.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Dev Branch suggested better implementation methods for us, chose technologies according to our requirements and designed an attractive UI for our site managers without admin prototyping from our side.

How did you come to work with Dev Branch?

We were looking for company in Lutsk, Ukraine for the project, and were examining different CMS [Content Management System] options. One of the most common was Drupal. In our area, the most professional Drupal developers worked at Dev Branch. We gave them specifications for an estimate, and they provided a fair budget. They visited a couple of our events and production facilities, and we were sure they understood our needs.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in July of 2016. Our first big development phase was finished by September of 2016. Throughout the last year, Dev Branch often supported us and made some small but important changes to the e-shop. We’re also planning to continue our cooperation in another big development phase.

They did their part perfectly. Every part of the project scope was completed. Of course, there were some minor bugs, but they were fixed quickly. The site was ready a week before the deadline.

First of all, we were looking for a reliable company. Dev Branch guaranteed high-quality coding, and their professional team was ready to solve any challenge. They gave us advice for better implementation and usability. They’re exactly the kind of partner we wanted.

I am a co-founder of an e-commerce property platform that enables users to make smarter decisions. Our target audience is made up of property shoppers in Cyprus.

We reached out to them in order to complete our project. We had started it with other freelancers but were not very happy. Our CTO started looking for programmers who could build the kind of platform we were looking for and came upon Dev Branch.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Dev Branch has developed our e-commerce platform from scratch. They were partly responsible for the design as well, but we had graphics in place. It allows users to purchase listings and particular subscriptions, and advertise on the market. People can use our solution to find their dream home.

The best feature on our platform is making custom searches based on location. Users can see advanced content listings showing price modifications and the market activity in general for the properties in their area. They can calculate what a mortgage fee would be for a listing, and can also input details about their incomes and down payment abilities in order to see what the largest house they could buy is. They can also narrow down properties based on various options.

How did you come to work with Dev Branch?

We were looking for developers who could build complicated systems and who had the knowledge to translate our needs into a software solution. Our CTO contacted a number of people through Upwork and held several interviews. He ultimately chose the ones who were best fit for our purpose, namely Dev Branch.

How much have you invested with Dev Branch?

Payments have gone through our CTO, but roughly speaking, the cost was above $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Dev Branch in February 2016. We are continuing to improve existing features and to implement new ones. We will start working on a version two of the site in August 2017.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We work with over 200 licensed real estate agencies and have managed to have the top 35% of all agencies listed on our platform. We only launched the site in February 2017, but we continue to attract new agencies each week, as well as individual owners. Our traffic is rising almost exponentially. Our success will consist of giving people the ability to make smarter decisions. If even one person benefits from this work, we will consider it a success.

How did Dev Branch perform from a project management standpoint?

Our communication with Dev Branch’s representative is excellent. We consider them to be ivy league programmers. The other team we had wasn't able to deliver our search functionality successfully — it had too many errors. Dev Branch has no problem delivering any functionality we request, and they have always been responsive.

The project was straightforward. We had conversations over Skype and explained to Dev Branch what we wanted each feature to do. They started work and delivered within the correct deadline for almost 99% of cases.

What did you find most impressive about Dev Branch?

They can work as a team, so, if one member doesn’t have a way of delivering something, we can communicate with each other and sort it out. The other developers we’ve worked with were mostly individuals, with no relationship between themselves. As one can imagine, there are many things which can go bad when this is the case. Dev Branch is a more integrated team, and they are always able to add value to our project, whatever the case is.

They did everything we asked for at the correct scheduled times. I have no negative comments.

At the highest level - contracting, billing, staffing - their project management was excellent. At a day to day level, I was in direct contact with the one or two developers working on my tasks at any time and to some extent supervising them myself.
