What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Every week Design in DC communicated clearly with me about our progress and communicated well with me every step of the way. When there were decisions beyond creative and web development, they looped me in and worked with me. We now have a website I could not be happier with. Our logo and branding also perfectly match with our values and where we, as a business, want to situate ourselves.

From the get go Design in DC was honest about timing and that creative work can often be hard to pinpoint a finish line. But we stayed on schedule and they worked with me to keep this project's budget and time frame as a top priority, which is very important to a young and small company just getting started. They worked with me to make sure the budget fit a smaller company, but treated me like a long time partner and business associate.

The broad scope expertise was most impressive along with the fact I think everyone I interacted with truly enjoyed their jobs and time working on this project. As a small and new company we needed alot of help and work done from scratch, and this was never an issue for their team. They had business managers, project managers, top notch art/design experts, web developers, seo experts, etc. They have it all. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something Design In DC could have done differently?

Honestly there is nothing that comes to mind. The entire experience from start to finish was professional and fun. The work, team, and business as a whole surpassed my lofty expectations.

The websites each included (5) primary pages, both sites representing a unique design usable as a template. 

DDC formated and loaded the content onto the website. After the website launched, we were provided with log-in to the content management system (CMS) to manage (add/edit/remove) your content seamlessly. SERVICES: • Load content into CMS (WordPress) and format, • One round of on-site revisions for content layout

DDC created a comprehensive on-site SEO strategy to drive traffic to websites. DDC optimized website’s content to a basket of c-rich keywords that will be picked up by all major search engines and increase rank and visibility. DDC created a custom website design based on our branding, colors, functionality requirements, and best usability practices. Our designs were tailored and set up for both seamless navigation and optimal conversion. The project management team demonstrated strong leadership and organizational skills, ensuring that our project remained on schedule and met key milestones as planned. Their proactive approach to tracking deliverables, facilitating communication, and addressing potential roadblocks helped keep the team aligned and productive.

While timeline management was a clear strength, budget oversight presented challenges. Despite best efforts, costs exceeded initial projections. Greater emphasis on financial controls and real-time budget tracking could improve future engagements.

Overall, their commitment to execution and project coordination was excellent, and their ability to keep us on track made a significant impact. With enhanced budget discipline, they would be an even stronger asset in future collaborations.

One area for improvement would be enhancing the budgetary oversight and financial tracking processes. While the team excelled at keeping the project on schedule and delivering high-quality work, budget management proved to be a challenge. Implementing more proactive cost-tracking measures, providing clearer budget forecasts, and establishing stronger financial checkpoints throughout the project lifecycle would help prevent overages and ensure better alignment with initial cost expectations. A more structured approach to budget monitoring would complement their strong project execution and creative excellence, making them an even more valuable partner for future collaborations.

Design In DC has designed and developed our website using WordPress. To increase sales, the team has created a landing page video and linked our Instagram account to the website. 
They've given me a discount on maintenance, so I'm staying with them as a maintenance team.

We've worked with Lydia, the founder and creative director, a technical team, and a couple of designers.

How did you come to work with Design In DC?

We found them through a Google search. They showed me what they did for their owner's mother, an accomplished artist, and I loved it. I was looking for a dynamic website, and they showed me what they could do for an artist like me, so I hired them.

We’ve spent $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2024, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The website is complete, but it's only been live for less than two weeks, so we don't have any quantitative metrics to share. I don't know how long it'll take before it begins to show up on Google searches; I've got it linked to my website, where I'm showing art at the moment. It's going to take some time, and I have to reach out to other organizations that I'm a member of to ask to link to the site. 
However, the website is beautiful, and there's a lovely landing page video that captures people's imagination. I've never been able to sell from Instagram, but the way they've set it up, people can click, which is something I've long wanted. Users can access our inventory—over 1,600 pieces—and contact us for pricing. The general design itself it's also very beautiful.

How did Design In DC perform from a project management standpoint?

The team's communication is excellent. The team has delivered the website a month earlier than expected; they've worked hard. The team has gone over budget, but within the parameters that I've set for myself, and I could afford the extra expense because I'm getting the quality I've wanted. Other people said the final price was in the ballpark for these sorts of projects. If I'd gone to another company, I probably wouldn't have gotten that much of a discount.

When I've had trouble maneuvering around the Figma wireframes, the team has walked me through the project and made the changes I've requested. We've communicated via Zoom meetings.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I want to give a shout-out and highlight the work of the team members who set up the videos. It has been very effective and will help me a lot.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I looked at the work of other famous companies and wasn't impressed. I've gotten good quality work for a normal price.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only thing that wasn't perfect was the evaluation of budgetary estimates. Everything will work just the way I imagined it would work, but since it did go over budget. I don't know whether that's typical. For example, a lot of things that people do say construction when they build buildings. They frequently go over budget, things happen, contractors get sick, suppliers can't supply a crucial product, and everybody's held up, some product turns out to be faulty, and inspectors stop work because of something, there's so many ways that projects can go over, which are not really the fault of the company.

Look at Design In DC’s product and see if it fits your needs.

We already had a website, but it wasn’t advanced at all. We were going to revamp it anyway, but then it completely shut down for two months.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Design In DC provides web design, development, hosting, and maintenance services. They’ve helped us create a site relatively quickly using Figma and WordPress.

We initially had a team call. They introduced us to everybody who would be working on the project and told us who to contact for what. Afterward, we just dove right in.

We began working with them in November 2023, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The website looks ten times better now, and we’re very thankful for that. We launched the site this past Friday, so it’s a bit early to see leads or traffic. However, I think we’ll definitely get there because the site is doing much more than we were working with before.

How did Design In DC perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re pretty communicative and easy to work with. We mainly use Slack and Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Design In DC has a good range of support on their team. They have at least 1–2 people on every job, which makes us feel that they specialize in many areas and assign the right people to take on big projects like this. Overall, they’ve all done a great job.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They missed a few deadlines, so the final launch of the website was delayed. Luckily, Design In DC made us a one-pager in the meantime, so it didn’t drastically affect our digital marketing efforts. We could refer clients to the page in the meantime, and it had a good amount of information about our company. Overall, it wasn’t that big of a deal, but it was our only con.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I don’t have an answer for this.

My mom and I have started a small, faith-based cleaning services organization in Washington, DC. We provide cleaning services for offices, homes, and Airbnb rentals.

What challenge were you trying to address with Design in DC?

We needed help with creating a nice logo for our new business so that we could show others that we existed. However, my mom and I both had a day job, so we didn't have enough time to get ourselves doing the design and marketing work needed. Therefore, we needed a company that could solve that problem for us.

Although we could have hired a student to save on costs, we wanted to get someone professional.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Design in DC has helped us design our logo. Initially, we provided them with a color palette, one of our taglines, and some small design pieces we had created. In total, I designed and sent about seven logo sketches to them. Then, they provided us with some ideas and, eventually, came up with a logo for us.

Recently, we had a meeting with Design in DC and decided that we'll work with them on our website as well. Their team will design our website and help us with our marketing, after which we'll probably leave a second Clutch review for them.

What is the team composition?

We've worked with Ziad (CEO & Co-Founder), a director, the lead designer, and another designer who has worked behind the stage and done the actual design.

How did you come to work with Design in DC?

We searched online and found a couple of companies that could help us out with this project. During our search, we thought that it would be better to work with a local company in Washington, DC, so we went with Design in DC. As a faith-based organization, some people tend to run from us. However, Design in DC was able to embrace our ideas and what we were looking for, as well as provide some ideas of their own.

We’ve been working together since February 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Design in DC has been able to unite our ideas and come up with a logo that far exceeds our expectations. We're not a usual business, but they've worked with us to customize what we've wanted. They've done a fantastic job, so we've even recommended them to one of my friends.

One time, the lead designer presented six different logos and went over all of them. I loved them all so much that I almost screamed — they had gone far beyond our expectations. We're eager to work with Design in DC again for our website and digital marketing because we know they'll do a very good job.

We want to be successful with this new business, so there's no better way to achieve that than to engage with successful people who know how to do things professionally.

How did Design in DC perform from a project management standpoint?

I work as a trucker on the road, and my mom also has her day job. Still, Design in DC has been very patient with us. They've taken the time to guide us through the process and have meetings with us to discuss the project's steps, just as they would with a bigger company. They don't minimize us just because we're a small organization, so they don't try to dictate what we want, and they've respected our opinion.

Design in DC has also delivered work on time. When we signed the contract, they laid out the timeline for the entire project. We've collaborated via Zoom meetings.

Throughout the project, Design in DC has delegated certain tasks to certain individuals. For example, the director hasn't been able to come to every meeting. Still, he assigned the logo design to the design lead, who has taken it to the next level. Still, everyone joined the wrap-up meeting for the logo design project, which was very good.

What did you find most impressive about them?

From the start, Design in DC has been very professional. They've treated us with a lot of professionalism, as if we were a big company, even though we're just a startup. We've been very impressed with their professionalism. Additionally, I've noticed that their attention to detail is outstanding; they're very detailed. Moreover, they listen to their customers and deliver high-end products.

As mentioned, we were very impressed with the logo designs they presented. Those designs showed that Design in DC had really listened to us and incorporated what we had said into the logo options. Overall, they've been awesome.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything that Design in DC could improve on. They've understood what we were looking for and expanded on it.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Do your homework and understand what you're looking for. Sit down with your team, come up with a plan, and share ideas. That way, it'll be easier to sit with Design in DC and talk to them about what you need them to do.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Design in DC had everything prepared for us when we were starting. We had a few phone calls where we talked about the brand direction and Design in DC gave us a lot of support and feedback about the different approaches to take our new brand. We chose one of the options that they provided us with and went forward from there. 

The team was building on our previous website, and we told them about our vision moving forward. We also provided photos and other examples of sites that we liked. The site primarily hosts our portfolio, and it has a contact form and a number provided to reach us directly. Design in DC has built the website using WordPress. 

The team has also been responsible for branding services and gave us a branding kit. The team has assembled our logo, color scheme fonts, and social media images.

We primarily work with an account manager, and at least 5–10 other people are working on different pieces of the project.

I think that we found them online to start. Design in DC had also worked on another project in our company, and we liked their work, so we decided to move forward together.

A few times, deadlines and communication have not been entirely clear, and a few delays have occurred. We primarily communicate via Slack.

They made the beginning of the process seamless. We appreciate that they have dedicated individuals that listen to our ideas and the direction we want to go in. Their quality of work distinguishes them, and they have different people across their company with different specialties, which has been helpful. The team is flexible and accommodating to our needs.

They could have more communication surrounding deadlines to avoid delays.

Knowing what you’re looking for, and providing materials to get the ball rolling is good. From there, make sure that you’re communicating effectively and consistently. You’ll be confident in the work that they provide.

For this, I’ve given them drafts on what I need regarding features and our vision for the platform. We’ve asked them for a beautiful interface to display our products in categories, show our kitchen, share information about us, and allow users to purchase through our site.

 In terms of tools and technologies, they’ve used WordPress and WooCommerce.

I’m the founder of PGAM Media. We’re an online media business that works with ad agencies and web publishers to help them improve their ROI through different advertising initiatives.

We had a basic website that we created using a web template. We needed to improve our online presence and contacted Design In DC to develop our company’s website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Design In DC designed and developed my company’s website. Initially, Design In DC sent me design proposals through Figma, and I could comment on and request changes in that platform. They developed my company’s website. Our site was a corporate and informational site where users could learn about our company and services. We didn’t want an e-commerce site, we just wanted to inform users about our business. 

After Design In DC finished our site’s development, they contacted me with one of their partners for web hosting and maintenance services. Design In DC also created marketing materials and helped us create the website’s blog content. We created a content strategy together, and Design In DC created a content calendar. We defined the blog sections together and the keywords we wanted to promote.

I worked with four teammates from Design In DC, including a project manager.

I found Design In DC through a Google search. I researched and interviewed different companies. I chose Design In DC because they were responsive and quick to answer with follow-ups. Design In DC also came up with design ideas after our first call, and when I saw their proposal, I liked it.

I invested around $20,000 with Design In DC; this included the budget for the site’s development and content creation. 

What is the status of this engagement?

I initially contacted Design In DC in January 2022, and they finished the site’s development in June 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our lead generation metrics have improved since we launched the site developed by Design In DC. We receive 1–2 organic leads each month, a good return for our industry. 

Moreover, Design In DC was really attentive to detail, and their design really enhanced our website. We worked great together, and they offered me a premium service. 

How did Design In DC perform from a project management standpoint?

We created a Slack channel at the beginning of our engagement, and this really helped to have open and free-flowing communication. I could ask questions on Slack, and a teammate from Design In DC would always respond. We also had check-in calls and communicated through email. 

Moreover, even though we didn’t have a hard deadline for the site’s launch, Design In DC was clear and transparent in communicating timelines. Design In DC was also responsive to my feedback, and whenever I asked for edits on the site’s design, Design In DC did them. 

Although I spent more budget than originally planned, I didn’t feel it was expensive because Design In DC’s quality of work was excellent. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was most impressed with Design In DC’s professionalism and design work. Design In DC accomplished the look and feel I was looking for on the site. Our site didn’t require a lot of development features, but the design really matched our company’s branding. 

Additionally, Design In DC’s customer service and attention to detail was outstanding. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything for Design In DC to improve. I have no complaints, and we worked great together.

Send Design In DC the deliverables and information they require from you, your project will certainly be delivered on time. Be very concise about your project’s requirements, and when you engage with Design In DC, be punctual with the deadlines they’ll require from you. I sent Design In DC the things they needed from me on time, and based on the results, I decided to keep working with them.

I'm the founder and CEO of CiviClick, a public affairs and government relations software company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Design In DC?

We needed help building a new corporate website for our company.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Design In DC did WordPress web development for us from scratch. They led a thorough and highly collaborative process where I did most of the copywriting and provided the content structure. Consequently, they did a remarkable job taking that material and walking it through their process. In addition, Design In DC's design team created beautiful graphics and went through many iterations, from the initial designs to the high-fidelity wireframes to the final product.

Regarding features, Design In DC's team created a standard corporate website but with a lot of custom graphics for the entire site, which are beautiful. In addition, the website was high-performance; they did a post-analysis with me and said it was the fastest site they had ever built. The platform has a 99% speed rating, which is phenomenal compared to any other websites I've had.

In addition to that, their services included hosting and maintenance for the site.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Design In DC's work was instrumental in helping us reach up to 1,000 organic views on our website per day. I also got a 42% open rate and a 24% click-through rate in the emails we sent to 18,000 people. Moreover, the traffic we got to the site was phenomenal in the 24 hours following the email, which amounted to 4,000 site visits, and I'm sure those numbers will go up once we start with paid media.

Overall, Design In DC delivered high-quality, professional work with great attention to detail. Their design quality and graphics were exceptional. They surpassed any other web development firm that I've worked with in the past.

How did Design In DC perform from a project management standpoint?

Design In DC delivered within budget and met our deadlines, which impressed me because not many firms are that organized and do a good job in that area. Compared to other providers, Design In DC was one of the few vendors I've ever worked with without having a single problem — everything was perfectly smooth with them. Regarding tools and communication, we used Slack, Google Meet, email, and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Many providers say they can do great quality work within budget and on time, but very few actually can. The website Design In DC delivered was phenomenal, and we had nothing but praise for it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I didn't think there was anything they could improve on, and this is the first time I've said this about a vendor. Their performance was flawless, and they got a perfect score because nothing went wrong.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Design In DC is a professional firm, so you have to come with your ideas ready — their work will only be as good as your ability to articulate your vision to them. One of the reasons my project with them was so successful is that I had a very clear and defined idea, so I could articulate it and work through it with them.

In addition, I don't recommend someone that's a first-timer to them because they're not a budget website development company. If you're a professional with a business and reputation on the line and need a website to help drive revenue and brand awareness, they're the perfect fit because they will walk you along and create something beautiful for you.
