I’m the director of corporate marketing and customer experience. We are a part of the transportation industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with CTRS Solutions Limited?

We needed assistance with revamping our research practices. We wanted to review our entire program and develop a new one.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They were able review best practices, our current program, and a recommendation report. They helped us outline a new program to go forward and meet our mandate.

I worked closely with Aaron (President, CTRS Solutions) and Geoff (VP, CTRS Solutions).

How did you come to work with CTRS Solutions Limited?

We put out an RFP for a consultant who could come in and work with various stakeholders across our business, as well as apply best industry practices. The RFP helped us identify CTRS.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in July 2018 and our collaboration is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Working with CTRS Solutions made it much easier to identify a new research vendor because we knew exactly what to look for after they defined what we needed.

How did CTRS Solutions Limited perform from a project management standpoint?

They are really good. We communicated in person, via email, and on phone. They were extremely responsive and always answered very quickly. They dealt with everything in a very professional, efficient, and timely manner.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're just very knowledgeable. They truly know the research industry and they understood the research practice skills required to complete the job. They steered us through the new RFP process and were very instrumental in helping us set up the program.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not really. They performed well, overall, which is why we still retain their services.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would recommend doing in-person kickoff meetings, but the rest can easily be done over email.

We started doing the work ourselves and realized we needed more credibility so we reached out to a half dozen or so groups. Shortlisted two and ultimately chose CTRS

It was a two-phase approach designed to build a reliable TAMSAMSOM. Phase one was mostly well-informed desk-research that - once presented - blew our minds. Phase two was a series of in-depth-interviews with representatives from orgs in key verticals

We worked with the owner/founder and a VP. The team was backed by a group of researchers

The result was a reliable TAMSAMSOM model for key verticals and strong validation of our product and gotomarket concepts

We had a great time working with CTRS. They understood our space quite well even when we're a niche inside of a niche.

Not only did they discover the answers to difficult market questions, they helped us discover new questions.

Tightening up the results presentations perhaps.

We were looking to assess the market need for a faculty research idea before investing more resources into the product development and team development.

How did you select this vendor?

CTRS was a recommended vendor for the Business Development program with the Edmonton Regional Innovation Network based on other innovation coach recommendations and committee review and approval. In future, CTRS is my first choice for any market intelligence research ahead.

After some initial discovery meetings, the CTRS team conducted high-quality in-depth market research to help us understand the market needs, layout, key barriers, and opportunities for growth with quantifiable data to support all the findings. They interviewed key researchers in the field across Canada to provide quality insight.

The faculty researcher, three CTRS team members, and myself.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

This research helped discover a fantastic opportunity for business development that we would not have known about otherwise.

The team went above and beyond our expectations with the quantity and quality of the research. They also provided an outstanding professional presentation that blew us away. The amount of value provided and their style of client engagement is unlike anything I've seen before.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was highly efficient and respectful of each person's time. Communication was as frequent as needed with the opportunity to connect at any time.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

CTRS was outstanding in terms of the depth and quality of the market intelligence research that they conducted. They also all have such genuine personalities and incredible people skills that you enjoy all the time and work done together.

The CTRS team is outstanding and we very much appreciated their hard work. It was a delight to have them involved in this university research project and to have Aaron's level of experience to provide solid insight. I hope we can work together often ahead.
