Crystal Apps was hired by GreenStreak, Corp., a customer retention and engagement tool built for retail storefronts with nascent applicability to the biomedical realm, of which I am the CTSO.

For what projects/services did your company hire Crystal Apps, and what were your goals?

Our firm had contracted out a handful of individual and corporate development entities prior to Crystal Apps, with mediocre to sub-par results, while attempting to procure talent that could create a digital artefact in-line with our desired business model mechanics.

To elaborate, the project - for which Crystal Apps was hired - centered on the refinement and development of a smartphone software application that needed to be constructed whilst adhering to a set of finely calibrated requirements (so as to remain compliant with an assortment of stringent federal governances).

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

GreenStreak, Corp. crossed paths with Crystal Apps through an online talent sourcing platform. Upon reviewing their portfolio of work, and after two discussions with Crystal Apps representatives, it became abundantly clear that their firm was qualified, capable, and an obvious shoe in for the project.

Initially, GreenStreak, Corp. drafted a high level - rudimentary overview of the smartphone application's desired functionality using the Sketch design software. After which, a review of the Sketch documentation was conducted with the Crystal Apps lead developer and project manager.

Once the desired functionality was clearly articulated and sufficiently understood the project was broken into two phases, a ‘start’ phase - whereby 50% of the invoice was paid in advance, and a ‘completion’ phase - whereby the remaining 50% of the invoice was to be paid when the artefact was finalized, in working order, and had cleared GreenStreak, Corp.'s User Acceptance Testing.

For this project Crystal Apps allocated a project manager, lead developer, and a UI/UX designer. The project manager and lead developer maintained an open line of communication 24/7, which was facilitated by the online talent sourcing platform.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

N/A - this project is a module artefact that contains aspects of a technology in stealth mode development secured by an NDA so as to shield the proof of concept prototype. Although I can share that the software mechanics have thus far surpassed our desired metrics by a healthy margin 👍.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

There was never any difficulties reaching the Crystal Apps team, and all queries or communications received a prompt reply (either instantaneously or within several hours). Furthermore, the Crystal Apps team maintains a casual - friendly - yet focused and diligent work ethic. The gold standard for technology undertakings in my opinion.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

First and foremost, I would just like to say that Konrad, Wiktor, and the entire Crystal Apps team, are what I would consider to be professionals to the utmost degree. After only a handful of requirements gathering meetings, and an exchange of rudimentary mock-ups depicting the software's desired functionality, Crystal Apps turned around and produced an artefact that surpassed expectations in every way imaginable.

To put it bluntly, Crystal Apps took the time to revamp the application's UI/UX and core mechanics in such a way that resulted in a far superior final product than our team was expecting.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Essentially nothing of note. I am thrilled with the final deliverable and cannot wait to work with Crystal Apps in the future.

I’m the owner and founder of eClash Games, a mobile eSport game developer.

What challenge were you trying to address with Crystal Apps?

We needed help with the mobile app development of a game. It was a project that didn’t get a lot of traction initially, so we wanted additional support to boost player attention.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Crystal Apps has assisted with some development for a mobile app game. We gave them the existing source code of the project, and they’ve helped develop the game in a more appealing way for the public. They’ve also done the UX/UI.

We initially had a brainstorming session with them. Then, we scripted the project. The game is now available for iOS and Android.

What is the team composition?

We directly work with a team lead, and there are four people on the team.

How did you come to work with Crystal Apps?

My brother recommended them; he’d worked with their team.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $3,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in March 2021, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

When the game was released, it tripled user attention. Now, it’s generating a lot more profit, and we have better UX/UI. Overall, the quality of work exceeded our expectations. There were some bugs initially, but they quickly handled them — they were resolved within 1–2 days, which was impressive.

Additionally, they’ve been very accommodating to our requests and vision. They took our vision and exceeded it. Crystal App’s team added in their experience, and they knew exactly how to achieve our objectives. Working with them was a nice experience.

How did Crystal Apps perform from a project management standpoint?

They delivered the game a week early. We use Slack and have daily and weekly communication on the progress.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Communicating with them is easy, and their experience in this space has helped us a lot. They added features that I’d never thought to add, which benefited the game and was fantastic. Also, they’re open about their ideas and put a lot of thought behind their vision.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’ve had 1–2 miscommunications. However, there hasn’t been anything else in general. Working with them has been a great experience.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Tell them the vision of your project; they’ll take it to the next level. Crystal Apps takes their time to navigate through the scope, and they’re transparent about what can and can’t be achieved. The team is very open and trustworthy.

Also, Crystal Apps doesn’t compromise on quality. They’ll make sure you’re happy with the scope. In general, anyone who chooses to work with them will find it’s a pleasant experience.

All of our titles showed an increase in KPI's with the biggest result coming from Real Money Word Search where we were not only able to increase retention but also 2x our revenue.

The communication and project management were great, which resulted in us working on multiple projects. Expectations were always met or exceeded.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I find it rare working with game developers who are able to not only use their initiative but to align that initiative with your vision. Crystal Apps did just that. My expectations were always exceeded by the quality of their work.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I have always been happy with the work I receive from them so as of now I cannot think of areas of improvement. It would be great if they expanded their work force to be able to work on multiple projects at the same time as sometimes they have limited time windows for accepting new projects which is due to them being in high demand because of the excellent quality of their work.

Together with Crystal Apps we’ve created a mobile application that was used to promote marketing events in Poland for our long-term client. The project involved creating an Augmented Reality section with the possibility to hang virtual paintings on the walls as well as a geolocalization part where users could share pictures of the paintings marked on the map. Everything was connected with a secure database that held all the data and statistics.

We’ve worked with one project manager, one senior programmer, a manual tester, and a graphics designer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The application took a big part in an event all across Poland and it had a hard deadline that Crystal App’s team managed to keep. After the launch, everything worked smoothly from start to finish which was the most important thing for us in this kind of event.

What challenge were you trying to address with Crystal Apps?

One of our clients, a shopping mall in Poland, and wanted to create a mobile app that one of their merchants could use as a validator to offer their customers free parking. We needed to create an app that would communicate between the smartphone and the server to give those free parking hours.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They created an iOS and Android solution that would communicate with a server provided by the producer of the parking barriers as well as cash machines. They built the app using React and communicated directly with the barrier vendor to ensure it would be fully functional.

What is the team composition?

I don’t know exactly how many people worked on the app, but I was in contact with three people from their side.

They were recommended to me, so I decided to go with them.

We spent about $35,000 USD.

We worked together from July–December 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

For us, the best measurement of quality is the fact that everything works, that the solution is stable, and that no one has had any problems. The end-user can now simply scan the QR code on the ticket and in a couple of seconds we are able to make sure that everything is okay so they can leave the shopping mall. The feedback we have received indicates that the solution operates quickly and is easy to use.

They met all deadlines. We used Trello for project management purposes.

Everything was on schedule, which was important to us.
