My name is Gaurav Henry, and I am the co-founder at Hindistandukkan.com, an e-commerce platform exclusively for handcrafted bridal wear. We are based out of Turkey and have manufacturing units in India. We create bespoke handcrafted fabrics and bridal wear.

Most of our clients are bridal wear manufacturers/stores-owners who are looking for high-quality handmade fabrics, appliques, and gowns for their retail stores. Currently, we supply to some top designers/manufacturers like Adi Shlomo (Israel, US, Hongkong), Slanovsky (Ukraine) just to name a few.

We hired Copper Mobile to build our E-commerce and AR mobile app to showcase and sell our products better to our target audience.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal is to expand our outreach. Right now we on top of the search engines in Turkey for our focus keywords "handcrafted bridal wear", however, we want to expand more to the US market.

We checked the ranking on Clutch and reached out to the top developers in Dallas( As we are opening our stores there). After speaking with 5-6 vendors, we decided to go with Copper Mobile

Copper Mobile helped us build our iOS and Android applications, both B2B and B2C. It's an ongoing engagement, where for the next 2 years they would be building our AR capabilities as well.

Owing to the pandemic Arvind from Copper Mobile recommended us to build AR apps instead of investing in brick and mortar stores, which was a valuable suggestion. Not only are they helping us with adoption of technology, but also helping us fine-tune our strategy.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

So far we have been amazed by Copper Mobile's excellent approach towards building our app. Our app is still under development, however, the AR models created by Rupak and his team helped us secure more clients in this pandemic! It created a lot of opportunities for us to reach out to prospects when everything was shut down!

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Our project manager is Pankaj. He's always promptly on a call with our team every day. They call it the SCRUM call. It's good to have an overview of what's happening as daily activities and gives us valuable insights.

One of our managers gets updated about daily activities and progress through software called JIRA. So far we have an excellent idea of the tasks which have been accomplished and the ones which are planned for the next Sprint.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Copper Mobile's team is awesome, especially the leadership team. Rupak, Arvind, Manish are very proactive in giving us insights and letting us know about the development.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We found our perfect technology partners! They gave us more than we asked for!

I’m the head of design for an apparel company.

We needed to develop a B2B platform for our design team that enabled us to share our designs and collaborate with global partners through an app.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to reduce the time necessary to share ideas and understand next steps no matter the time. This would help us communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including other vendors.

We found Copper Mobile on Clutch. We narrowed our list to 10 possibilities and invited five to submit an MVP. Copper Mobile’s CEO did an excellent job of providing us with detailed information regarding how the product would work, including the backend and analytics, which other vendors missed completely.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We’ve received favorable feedback from the apparel branches of industry-leading technology companies. This project has helped us push to the forefront of our space.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Copper Mobile understood our creative needs well and provided suggestions based on their past experiences. They explained the project stages in detail and took great pains to give us information about project deliverables. Their planning and proactive communication ensured we hit our timelines.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their UI designs were noteworthy, but their user journey work was outstanding. We didn’t initially ask for a user journey map, but they were more than willing to create one. It helped us explain to buyers why they should adopt our platform.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The app performs well in the US, but image size and bandwidth could be better optimized for Indian realities. The internet is slower there, so they could have focused more on accomodating those restrictions.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

All the apps are live on the app marketplaces with good ratings and reviews. We attract a high volume of downloads from active, satisfied customers.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They're a great, collaborative team with good communication, logical and analytical skills, and sound technical capabilities. 

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They align with our priorities and show lots of agility, changing priorities like a true extended team. They require less effort for extensive discussions, mentoring, and follow-ups. They extend support and go the extra mile to address unplanned but critical needs. They're great partners who we trust to meet our needs.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We're more than satisfied, which is why we've used them for the last two years. I don't see any major areas for improvement.

Our company provides manufacturing services for nuclear reactors and systems within the energy business. We also create nuclear fuel to support energy facility outages. In my role, I lead our mobile app development initiative.

What challenge were you trying to address with Copper Mobile?

Energy production companies need to take down a portion of their facilities at intervals in order to refuel and do inspections and maintenance. To keep track of this process, companies typically use spreadsheets and emails, which can be cumbersome. Instead, we wanted to build a more sophisticated system that consists of a mobile app, a web frontend, and backend services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Since we lacked the internal resources to lead the requirement phase, Copper Mobile worked closely with both stakeholders and prospective end users to gather the requirements. They then created the UI/UX design before executing the development.

The system features a complex database schema with several storage procedures and a SQL server. Their team built the web app, created the iOS mobile app using Swift, and developed the backend services with .NET and C#. We’re now in a pilot phase, testing the system with users and making corrections as necessary.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with a number of people, including on- and offshore developers and a requirement gathering lead. Currently, they’ve assigned a full-time team member to support our mobile app, and we’ve occasionally relied on their offshore resources.

How did you come to work with Copper Mobile?

We’d already engaged Copper Mobile before I joined the project, so I’m not sure how we found them. I do know that we’d worked with them for other apps prior.

What is the status of this engagement?

Their work started in May 2018 and is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re not in production yet, so I can’t say what the gains are. However, we see potential in the new system. Compared to using spreadsheets and email to coordinate outages, the apps are definitely superior. Currently, Copper Mobile is conducting a pilot test with users to see if they’ve missed any requirements and are resolving issues as needed.

How did Copper Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?

I’ve mostly been involved in the inception and pilot phases, so I haven’t worked closely with everyone. But, in my experience, they’ve performed well. They’re responsive and eager to deliver the best job possible. I appreciate that they listen carefully to our needs, and they always deliver in a timely manner.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I worked closely with Arvind (Co-Founder, Copper Mobile), who has been involved since the beginning. It’s easy to communicate with him, and he’s always willing to do what’s necessary to get the job done. Moreover, their full-time resources are technologically excellent, working efficiently to deliver as expected if not more.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything. It’s been a great relationship overall. Once we move into production, we’ll likely have an even better story to tell.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Clients have to take ownership of the initial analysis and requirements phase. In our case, this wasn’t possible, so Copper Mobile stepped in to support us.

The app utilizes a user’s past food order history to predict and make recommendations for other restaurants they might like. A friend referred them, and we were in a hurry, so we hired them immediately.

For what projects/services did your company hire Copper Mobile?

We wanted a fully customized frontend for three of our brands' e-commerce pages. We have our own CMS to manage all our brands, which makes it difficult to find companies willing to work outside of the cookie cutter systems such as Magento and Drupal.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to maintain control of website content from our central CMS while still allowing for our brands' unique voice to be displayed. It was going to be difficult to achieve.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We were impressed by their previous work on a custom quiz and by their willingness to work outside the box. They didn't charge extravagant prices and conduct needless meetings.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

Using the Agile format, Copper Mobile took time to learn our business and its requirements. They produced the frontend for three uniquely branded websites, which we tied to our CMS to provide dynamically driven content.

What was the team composition?

The team consisted of a project manager, a lead software engineer,  and a lead designer. There may have been more people working in the background.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We were able to continue using our own CMS to manage our branded sites, which was important to keep our SaaS costs low.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

They managed the project perfectly using the Agile method. Delivering solutions within our budget and meeting all deadlines, their team was extremely effective.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We were impressed by their willingness to listen and understand our story as a whole.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

There was little they could've improved. We have some delays, but it was because we asked them to change our story, which made them have to adjust their work.

I am the marketing manager for a nationwide distributor of industrial maintenance, repair, and manufacturing supplies. We operate fully stocked mobile industrial hardware stores, which bring mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and chemical items to your business and work sites.

What challenge were you trying to address with Copper Mobile?

Our catalog of parts we offer our customers has grown, with access to over 1000,000+ parts. We’ve tried interactive PDFs, along with our website and they are not as fast or reactive as we want them to be. Many of our clients work in remote areas or buildings that have limited cell service or WiFi and we wanted an app that could get our products into the hands of our customers that worked both online as well as offline.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We provided all of the information for our products, the images and the descriptions, as well as our how-to videos, knowledge-based websites, and promotional items. They worked with us on what to organize and streamline, so that everything on our end was ready for them to do what they do best. We wanted Android and iOS apps of our entire catalog. They created those two apps and a third one—an admin panel that maintains both of them.

We had a project manager, and there were different leads for the separate app teams.

How did you come to work with Copper Mobile?

We interviewed them and five other companies. I wanted to work with somebody local to streamline communication and meet face-to-face if necessary. We have a niche market, and Copper Mobile recognized that right away. They liked us and we liked them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from October 2017 to March 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The apps better serve our customers than our previous methods. Our customers are now able to find products faster and ones they didn't even know we carried. It puts more at their fingertips, including tech and SDS sheets. Having our materials at the ready has made a tremendous difference in how we operate and the next level of service that our customers deserve. All of our products and promotional specials are now more visible, along with making it easier for our customers to get in touch with their local Territory Manager. The app has been faster than searching for something in the paper catalog, and it's 2-3 times faster than using the interactive PDF or website. We plan to collaborate on two more apps in the future.

How did Copper Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?

We used Google Drive for file sharing. They preferred to work with a messaging platform, but I preferred email and texting, and their responsiveness was uninhibited. I interacted with the project manager daily. I served as the liaison between their team and our team. They quickly found solutions to our questions. They’re honest and clear. When certain components were outside the original scope, they didn’t shy away from the challenge and instead said they would find an answer. The customer service was top-notch.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Unlike other vendors, Copper Mobile didn’t add in any fluff to the final project, meaning that they didn’t say one thing and then change it mid-project. We told them what our project was, and they told us the reality they could achieve with our budget. They delivered what was promised within that budget and more.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of any improvements.

Any advice for potential customers?

I would recommend asking as many questions as necessary in order to understand the technical complexities. They’re a patient team and will take the time to provide clarity.

How did you select this vendor?

We were searching for a development vendor and found their profile on Clutch. We had a word with Mr. Arvind Sarin [CEO,  Copper Mobile]. He is a super dynamic person with great entrepreneurial skills.

We had a kick-off meeting on basic product development, then moved on to prototyping, designing, coding, and finally publishing it on the Google Store as a beta launch. The entire team at Copper gave us a lot of help in all areas, ranging from ideation to development of important features.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We've successfully built our MVP and launched the beta version to early adopters, who gave feedback and ideas on iterations needed for the product. Overall, the project goals were met by the Copper Mobile team.

The workflow was amazing. It was transparent in terms of the system they adopted for development, which was Jira. They worked as a team to give us tremendous infrastructure support for both product development and for our startup's development. All deliverables were met on time and were of great quality.

Their culture and vision were impressive, along with the team's energy and enthusiasm. They are an American company working in India. The technicians' capabilities were great and gave us a complete startup-appropriate solution. They gave suggestions and ideas for product improvement as a strategy.

Mr. Sarin could spend some more time in India or appoint a more qualified head representative when he is not around.

It was all on the development side but there was some consulting as well. They came up with a demo app that I was able to use for investors. It was for the iPhone. They also created a series of investor pages, profiles, and other things relating to the industry.

It was word of mouth. I asked a bunch of people in Texas whom I trusted and then I interviewed three different groups.

Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?

Many users were very impressed with the application. They were good both with the design side of things and on the software side. We didn’t experience major bugs or downtime.

I am very satisfied.

They are very good at communicating and very good at keeping to the time frame and budget.

What advice would you give to future clients of theirs?

I would recommend them. You need to make sure you’re on the same page with their team so everyone has a common understanding.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?

I didn’t have any issues with them at all. I see no major areas for improvement.
