We are BSE listed Pharmaceuticals manufacturing company. We manufacture DC granules, Pellets, Tablets , Capsules, Dry Syrups, Oral thin Films in an EU-GMP WHO verified manufacturing facility located in Central India.

I work as a business development and digital marketing strategist monitoring online and offline sales and strategy of pharmaceuticals and healthcare supplements

We have presence in 52 countries around the world and we currently have multiple brands and finished formulation products which we sell in these markets. We needed an expert who could create and help in execution of a business strategy around our finished formulation business.

I found Denovo consulting through Google search and was impressed by their website following which I had a meeting with the consultancy's founder Mr. Anupam.

I explained to him the problem statement and he was quick to grasp the concept and understanding of how our business works following which we had subsequent meetings with top management who were also impressed with his experience and outlook to the problem. Soon after, we engaged Denovo consulting's services

Anupam started off by understanding the business model and our value proposition which was followed by interactions with our business development teams, Business directors and Data Scientists.

His approach involved understanding our products, markets , regulatory requirements, competitor products, pricing strategy, production, technical details, finances and bonding with the team to approach the problem from the core.

They were quick to grasp our business model and able to create a successful three-year business strategy as well as a short term immediate action plan for the coming year .

The Business and Marketing Strategy created is in execution and the business development and marketing and sales team have better visibility in execution of country specific action points.

We had weekly meetings scheduled for discussion of progress along with spontaneous meetings as was needed. They were easy to each and fast in responding which led to a smooth communication experience

I’m the assistant VP of a company that’s in the home textile and advanced textile business. We’re part of a $1 billion wealth fund group, and we’re based in India.

What challenge were you trying to address with Denovo Consulting?

We had already been manufacturing wipes for several private brands in the Indian market, but we wanted to enter the healthcare and medical sector. To do this, we sought the support of Denovo Consulting.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started with a raw product list and went into deep data assessment. Denovo Consulting then conducted 120–150 interviews within the B2B market, specifically within the medical wipes market segment of India. Their team met with customers, hospitals, competing manufacturers, and consultants using a questionnaire that they had prepared and changed according to our modifications. 

After that, we moved into conducting a decision analysis and creating a detailed go-to-market strategy. Denovo Consulting provided five different options, each with its own positive and negative points. Based on the outcome of their study, we were able to make some key decisions. 

What is the team composition?

We worked with around 8 people from their team, but there may have been more people working on the project behind the scenes.

How did you come to work with Denovo Consulting?

We considered 2–3 different consulting firms and conducted a cost-benefit analysis on each. We also looked into the quality of each firm’s study. Apart from having the experts that we needed on board, Denovo Consulting also had a very good understanding and knowledge of our product, which is why we decided to go with them.

How much have you invested with them?

The entire project cost us close to $20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our partnership began in December 2017, but this particular project lasted from February–August 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The study went fantastically well and was positively received by our top management. Denovo Consulting was able to give us a complete viewpoint of the Indian healthcare industry in relation to the medical wipes product. Through their study, we got to know that the market size was very limited but with a high growth rate. We’ve since followed their recommended strategy and moved our share of the medical wipes business from 0% to 10%–15%.

How did Denovo Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?

Denovo Consulting was always on the time and available 24/7, which we appreciated seeing as we needed to be aggressive and fast-paced when making decisions and breaking into a new market. Whenever we called them with any questions or clarifications, they were quick to respond. Even if the market intelligence was not readily available to them, they were able to get it from their own context and team.

Most of our communication was done through phone or email, but they also visited us for every phase of the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're an old company, but their team is very youthful, energetic, and expert in a wide array of things. I would easily rate them 9/10.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there’s nothing that could be improved. They did a well-planned and well-structured study.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Provide them with the right requirements and trust them to deliver because they have various domain experts on their board.

What challenge were you trying to address with Denovo?

We provide a lot of certifications in the wellness area. We started for yoga schools, institutions, and personal trainers. When we were launching this offering, we wanted the support of someone who would be able to actively set up the whole website for us and who would know our market.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They identified the market potential and broke it down between institutions and private instructors for yoga. They designed our site and provided a lot of promotional material to appeal to our customers.

They also offer performance marketing. They interacted with the clients across their journey and then brought the clients to us at the final stage after the client was willing to become certified through us.

They handled marketing and branding, including slideshow videos and short clips of each institute we certified. They also leveraged social media and other channels to grow our name in the market.

What is the team composition?

We mainly interacted with two of their principals. There was a third contact who was involved with film shoots and other tasks and a team behind them.

How did you come to work with Denovo?

We were looking at how to upscale our certification business in this field. We knew that we would have to either hire people internally for this or take on an agency. We decided to hire an agency, and looked at the credentials of the people from each firm.

We found that Denovo’s people all had reputable backgrounds and impressive past experience. They gave a very good presentation about what they could do in our field, and we were impressed with the work they had put in. They also had competitive pricing. The bigger organizations we contacted were charging a lot more.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around 10 million rupees ($150,000 USD) in 2017.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them more than one year ago. We're looking to use Denovo for other certification products we’re launching at the moment, within a month or two.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Within a short period of time, we saw 36 institutions registering with us for certifications. Denovo essentially built a market around us and we’ve done good business in 2017.

They engaged themselves to certain deliverables, such as delivering a certain number of new customers to us each month. They gave us a schedule in the beginning and very much stuck to it. The variation was only 5% or so. They were able to deliver whatever they said they would do.

How did Denovo perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very strict in terms of timelines, which was a great help. Some of our own people became more alert as a result of this. There were some tasks that we needed to take care of, in order to support them, and they moved quite fast. Our agility improved because of this. We mainly used email for communication. We also had Microsoft Project in place.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They understand the customer and the customer base. They explained everything nicely and addressed any concerns we had. I’m happy with them overall. They work closely with us and they’re a good team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

One of the people whom they hired as a coordinator had certain medical issues, which came up suddenly. This made the output suffer. Their replacement strategy, in that case, could have been improved but it only happened once.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

The customer should be very clear about their deliverables and explain to the team exactly what they want. This will make the work much better. One of the issues that occurred in our own internal management came from not being clear enough about the deliverables initially. The clarity developed after working with Denovo.

Clients should also look at the costs involved in the work done and estimate the rates that will come into play. It’s better to hard-negotiate around the deliverables than around the payment.
