What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have a prototype and plan in place which we were able to show investors to achieve our aim which was for students to manage just one central account stored in our own database.

We had meetings every 3 days and a summary of the week's work documented every week. We also had constant communication with the team via Slack. Coderpush always responded in detail and immediately to all our requests - it was very reassuring and helpful to ensure expectations were managed and not only met but exceeded.

Overall, the team is very dedicated and consists of smart people that are eager to learn and grow. Their team was able to rewrite the app from scratch in 3 months - with on-schedule delivery, with the new app increasing our NPS score by 50%.

We use Jira for project management. Overall, I think the team could do better at adopting scrum and agile practices, but they're getting better at it.

I think they can get better at agile practices, and improve product delivery by increasing overall testing.

For what projects/services did your company hire CoderPush, and what were your goals?

As we were in the early stages of development, we needed to move faster and better. We had four months to complete the development of this complex data structure. CoderPush was hired to help develop the final step and provide good coding expertise for good scalability and security.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

The first thing I want to say is that I really support their innovative business model to teach people how to code and to get them to the next level by providing them with freelancing contracts. For us, the decisive factor is. At CoderPush, every developer works the same way. As a result, if you need to scale up the team, you won't waste time training them

The Goplan platform was developed in teamwork with me during the project phase. We work as a team with two-week sprints. Each PR is paired reviewed to ensure good quality and scope of stories. They always bring ideas on how to improve on current stories. The final product is a complete project management platform that manages documents, tasks, pdf annotations, communication, and photo maps. This is all done within a design office's specialized workflow.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

All features are well tested and robust, so we are able to launch the product on time. Considering the variety of features that needed to be implemented, this was a challenging project. As long as the quality of their team remains top tier, Goplan will continue to work with CoderPush.

I was thrilled by their project management style. From day 1, they suggested some good practices they wanted to implement for us, which helped us speed up our development and deployment stability immediately.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

As I mentioned earlier. I really like their vision of bootcamp + freelance agency. All developers and managers thrive on the success of their clients, and all have the same positive attitude and energy. While it may seem obvious, hard work is required to achieve this level of team building.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Honestly, I don't see much room for improvement. We discussed all the improvements with the team, and they took care of them almost immediately. CoderPush is like having your own office team. It is almost impossible to tell the difference. There is just a void of being able to grab coffee with them :)

We wanted to create an app that could change children's posture by forcing them to sit up straight whenever the phone detects that it’s being held at a bad angle.

CoderPush built an app for iOS and Android from scratch. They enabled the features we wanted and left it open to add more features to it along the way.

A trustworthy friend referred them to me, and I also heard from other people that they were good.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re about to launch the app, so we don’t have any metrics. I can say that everything went great, their team was on top of any situation that arose, and they made the process super simple.

How did CoderPush perform from a project management standpoint?

They were excellent. Every time we had a question, they’d take care of it right up. It was an attentive and understanding process. We communicated through WhatsApp, email, and conference calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It’s challenging to find a provider with their level in Vietnam, and they’re fantastic; CoderPush does what they say they’re going to do and completes the job efficiently. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on — they got things done even before I asked them to do them.

I am the founder of the company, Native Projex. Our mission is to build technology products that leave a positive imprint on humanity. We tackle difficult consumer problems with ambitious concepts.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire CoderPush?

Our project, Favs, was on our 2nd major prototype and with every other release, the app would break leaving users unable to test new features. Each deployment would cost us several days of downtime and missed opportunity with beta testers.

In addition, we weren't deploying as frequently as needed doubling the initial estimates of our product roadmap.

What were your goals for this project?

I'm a big believer in building foundation to enable velocity. We had neither a strong foundation nor velocity.

So the goals for the first phase were:

1. Stabilize our production and staging environments

2. Implement continuous delivery methodologies including continuous deployment and automated testing

3. Deploy our 2nd major version of our prototype through daily deployments

How did you select CoderPush?

I met Harley as he came highly recommended from a friend so we sat down and we discussed the challenges. As I spoke about the challenges, Harley listened.

One thing I appreciated is that Harley didn't oversell and tell me they could fix everything. He said he would help get us organized, understand our architecture and processes, and make recommendations once he got a better understanding.

By month 1, Harley had stabilized our environment and began implementing continuous delivery within our team. By month 2, the my engineers were deploying updates daily and by month 3 we had automated testing.

As a result, we were able to do rapid development and prototyping and quickly discover the gaps in our app and the adjustments we need to make with the app.

As a result, I had Harley bring on 2 more engineers to help us execute on a bigger roadmap for prototype version 3 including re-architecting to a full iOS app vs the web app we originally envisioned.

What was the team composition?

Initially it was Harley assessing, fixing environment issues, then coaching our engineers, fixing our processes and tools.

Eventually we added three more Coderpush engineers join us including Long the co-founder to deliver on the product roadmap.

The composition was one front-end engineer, one full-stack engineer, and Harley and Long stepping in on key trouble areas.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Within 3 months, the production environment went from being down every other day to 99.9% uptime. We had automated testing, deployments, code reviews and daily deployments.

We completed prototype 2 and moved on to prototype 3 with a complete re-architecture of the app moving from vue.js and mongo db to react-native and postgres. It has resulted in 20x performance improvement and critical new features for the user.

Most importantly, the vision of what we're building for our users has become clearer and as well as the path to get there.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The communication is one of the things I value most about Coderpush. Everyone I engage with speaks English well which is vital when discussing complex engineering concepts in a rapid prototyping environment.

In addition, everyone was accessible both during covid when teams had to be mobile and now that we are part time in the office. Coderpush is also an advocate of using the latest tools to stay connected and updated, while being efficient through delivery.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The accountability that Coderpush team takes in ensuring they provide a quality product and service. They are open to feedback and make adjustments quickly, it's in their DNA to want to grow, constantly learn, and over deliver.

I'm on threads where articles, new approaches, and feedback is shared often. It's invigorating. I don't consider Coderpush as a vendor, we are a team.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I wish I had more time with Harley and Long to discuss strategy and long-term planning. Unfortunately, for me (and unsurprisingly), Coderpush is growing in demand.

I’m the CEO of a chain of Mandarin language schools. We’re a traditional school and not a tech startup, but we decided to go online. We were severely hit by COVID-19 and the related travel restrictions, which led to the closure of all our schools.

I’m acting as product manager for this enterprise.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with CoderPush?

We had an idea of how we wanted to build our online school. It would allow students to book small group classes 24/7, which hadn’t existed for the Mandarin learning market.

We had no experience in the area, so we spent quite a bit of time looking for companies in Vietnam and other countries.

One of the biggest fears I had was that if we didn’t really understand what the supplier was supposed to do, we’d be wide open to making mistakes.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

CoderPush developed a relatively complex web app that allows teachers and students to log in and manage classes. We’ve worked closely with them, and they guided us along the way.

They chose the entire code stack.

What is the team composition?

We worked with Harley (Founder & Developer), and there were 9–10 people from their team involved. There were also people involved part-time with the AWS setup.

How did you come to work with CoderPush?

I met Harley through a personal contact before starting this project. We received quotes from multiple companies, but I felt that CoderPush was enthusiastic about the project and wanted to develop a successful product.

They had a motivated team, and Harley has a lot of experience.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with CoderPush in May 2020, and they’re continuing to provide support.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have 700 active users, and we’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback. Most feedback will focus on teaching quality, but it’s the system that allows teachers and students to do what they want to do. People can organize small Chinese classes 24/7 without having to follow rigid schedules.

CoderPush set things up for us keeping our future needs in mind. They could’ve done things faster or easier, but that would’ve led to problems for us down the line. I couldn’t have blamed them if they didn’t take this approach because they would’ve just done what we asked them to.

We were under enormous time pressure due to COVID, but CoderPush put a team together very fast. We started literally two days after signing the contract, and the project was finished on time and within budget. I spoke to friends about this project, who were more experienced than me in the field, and they all expected the work to take twice as long. We set an ambitious schedule, and it was fulfilled.

The system is an enabler for selling classes, not the product itself, but we have commented about its innovation. Some of our customers are software programmers, and they’re the ones we’ve gotten the most praise from.

How did CoderPush perform from a project management standpoint?

CoderPush set up a really good reporting system for us, through which we can get data out of the system. We have a lot of control over the platform through the admin panel CoderPush implemented.

CoderPush worked very hard to finish this, and they were always available. We had plenty of calls and discussions on evenings and weekends. When I found a bug or issue, I told them about it, and it got fixed straight away. They gave us honest feedback on our ideas and sometimes stopped us from making certain mistakes.

I was very much kept in the loop and involved with the team. I knew exactly what was going on. They’d produce test versions for us to check, and we’d make comments on how to improve things. The communication was always very good.

CoderPush was incredibly good at adapting as we found out things during the project, and our requirements evolved. Harley and his team felt like a part of our company. Their main aim was to give us a great product. Once we signed the contract, they were really on our side.

Their team is excellent at documentation. We have a GitHub project where we can create issue tickets. They have a structured approach to creating tasks and making updates. We have several updates per week, which are usually small at this point. We also have a Skype chat group, where I can reach them for anything urgent, and I can call them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team takes ownership of the problem, and they try to resolve it. They come up with good ideas and communicate them well. They’re also a really happy team, and I enjoy working with them.

There’s a great work atmosphere there. The pandemic hasn’t been a very positive time for my team, but it’s been a joy to work with CoderPush. They criticize each other when needed, but it’s always done with a positive attitude. I can see that they enjoy building things, and they get enthusiastic when something works.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There are parts I would’ve designed differently, given what I know now, but that’s on us. We gave them the requirements.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Clients should trust them. I’ve come to trust them blindly now.

If they make a suggestion, it should be taken seriously. From my experience, they really try to help. Some clients may be more tech-savvy, so they’ll be talking at a different level. I wasn’t particularly tech-savvy in the beginning.

I’m the CEO of an IT services company. We help customers with web, backend, mobile, and overall architecture and resources based on projects. We combine Silicon Valley experience, leadership, and architecture with reduced-cost offshore resources.

We needed help with coding and engineering management for our projects. CoderPush has the closest environment to my 30+ years working for big tech. That is the model I know and have used at companies like Red Hat, Netscape, AOL, Google, and various startups.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We build products for our customers, and CoderPush writes very good code and provides engineering management and support. We’ve delivered mobile apps, a customer data platform (CDP), and over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates. We’ll soon deliver AWS IoT. I run the projects, and my senior architect here in San Francisco does the architecture. CoderPush codes the mobile apps and creates the UI/UX designs.

We communicate via virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps. The project management has been hit or miss. Nhi was the best we’ve had. After that, it has been spotty. It’s very important for me to have project management; it completes the team.

The price is right, the code is good, they use best practices, the billing is spot on, and I like the staff.

We needed a new website and booking platform using modern technology optimized for UI/UX and minimal payment fees to replace our previous system on WordPress and WooCommerce.

What was the scope of their involvement?

CoderPush handled the full end-to-end development of the OrcheStars platform. This included product discovery, UX/UI design, technical architecture, frontend and backend development, integrations for payments and scheduling, and full deployment. They also supported us through iterations, testing, and launch.Regarding features and components, CoderPush built a booking system, performer and organizer dashboards, payment integration, event management tools, affiliate portals, and the public-facing website.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We've sold three shows on the site! Each show had multiple show dates selling 300–1,500 tickets per show date. We also track with Google Analytics, Facebook Ad pixels, Zalo payment platform, and emails to Lark Suite, where we can handle customer support with dashboards.Before this, we used WordPress, and it was much slower, and we couldn't customize it easily. There was also a lot of bloat. Now, everyone can tell it's much faster. The last WordPress team couldn't make changes quickly and didn't work well. On the new platform, we can change a lot of things on the CMS. UI/UX is very important. The event landing pages need to be beautiful, matching our Instagram and Facebook accounts.

They were awesome. We also listed them as a tech partner for some of our events.

They were more expensive than other vendors, so we paid in kind.

What was the scope of their involvement?

CoderPush has been responsible for the entire process, from design to development to setting up the CMS. We’ve participated by testing the applications in staging and UAT and finally migrating them to production. The team has worked on the landing page design, used a headless CMS system, built teacher and parent pages, and created admin dashboards.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve launched the new website, and the web application allows us to take applications to teach at the school and enrollment inquiries from parents online. The admin can also publish announcements on the dashboard. Overall, the process has been much more streamlined. In the past, we had to use Google Forms.
Since launching the new system, the total number of teacher applications has increased by around 5%, and the time to process them has decreased. The number of student inquiries has also increased by about 20%. Now, we can process applications twice as fast and look things up five times faster.

How did CoderPush perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve assigned a part-time project manager who runs weekly meetings. After two weeks of working on the design and setting things up, they’ve given us a few features to test a few times a week.

What did you find most impressive about them?

CoderPush is attentive to details and seems passionate about education. Chau (Full Stack Developer) is excellent, and the project manager is very responsive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’ve had to explain a few things again when they’ve replaced a team member in the middle of the project, but they’ve done it well. If they could visit our school earlier in the project, we could have had an even better experience.

I’m the co-CEO of Joe. We build technology currently only harnessed by big corporations and make it available to small business owners. We’ve built the largest loyalty program in coffee and are elevating the coffee industry through regenerative coerce principles.

We had them working on our POS and consumer app and merchant manager for shop tools.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

From design work to Flutter engineers to full-stack engineers, CoderPush was an integral part of our success at Joe. They built out our POS and supported our consumer app refresh. The features included a network loyalty program and a robust POS system that is integrated with our mobile ordering consumer app.

Over the entire period, around 10 teammates from CoderPush were assigned to our project.

How did you come to work with CoderPush?

Our former CTO was referred to CoderPush, and we began using their services through him. We chose CoderPush over other options because they had a better offering that was flexible and could scale up or down to meet our business needs. The engineers they had were all well vetted and provided a ton of great value.

We grew the business 10x in gross monthly volume during the time we engaged with CoderPush.

How did CoderPush perform from a project management standpoint?

CoderPush was great and very communicative. If there was ever an issue with anything, they worked diligently to resolve the issue. We faced challenges with time zone communication, and key engineers would leave, and we had to find replacements, which they handled. Sometimes the times we could connect made it hard to be efficient.

They set meetings, proposed new solutions, and took a lot of the burden off our shoulders. Our primary form of communication was email, Google Hangouts, and Zoom.
