CODEFUSION completely rewrote our mission-critical yard management system (Datacar Mobile) from Windows Mobile to a modern web-based platform using Progressive Web Apps (PWA) and Trusted Web Activities (TWA) approach. Key deliverables included: 

• Complete system architecture redesign using Vue.js, TypeScript, and responsive design 
• 15+ core modules implementation: Security, PDS (pre-delivery service), vehicle reception, work order management, inventory, quality control 
• Mobile-first solution with dedicated DCBrowser kiosk app for Zebra devices 
• Hybrid online/offline functionality ensuring operations continuity in areas with limited connectivity 
• Advanced integrations: Barcode scanners, accelerometer-based speed monitoring, real-time communication system 
• Backend modernization using .NET, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and SignalR for real-time features 

The solution handles complex automotive logistics operations including vehicle storage management, pre-delivery inspections, accessory installation tracking, and work order processing across our 5 logistics centers.

Key deliverables included: intuitive customer onboarding workflows for IoT devices, automated contract activation and termination systems, integration with external service providers for order and customer data, licensing management integration, cloud provider selection interfaces, and seamless integration with our existing .NET service layer and Angular frontend. The module was architected as an integral platform component maintaining full compatibility with existing systems.

The project resulted in a noticeable reduction in technical support demand, as customers are now able to manage their IoT devices independently.

Additionally, we now have a scalable platform solution that grows with our global customer base—without requiring a proportional increase in support staff.

System for monitoring internal rail transport and production figures of a steelworks

GBU mbH is a German company that specializes in simulation and production software. As part of a challenging project for one of Germany's leading steelworks, we developed a comprehensive system for monitoring internal rail transport and production figures.

Due to the high technological requirements, we were looking for an experienced subcontractor who specializes in the development of advanced IT systems and can reliably implement the integration of different data sources.

CODEFUSION, as a subcontractor, developed a system for processing location data from GPS and RFID that monitors the internal rail transport of pig iron between blast furnaces and the steelworks. In addition, client applications for visualizing this data were designed and implemented. The project scope included:

• the development of server applications for aggregating and filtering location data,
• an application for processing data from various sources (GPS, RFID),
• Client applications based on .NET WPF and Silverlight for visualizing and analyzing transport data.

A particular challenge was to make the system robust against erroneous data collected by RFID and GPS devices under the demanding conditions of a steel mill.

The implemented system brought significant business benefits to the steelworks. The master and transaction data of the various production sites were significantly improved and synchronized. Error-prone manual entry of transaction data was significantly reduced.

In addition, the transport between the blast furnaces and the steelworks became transparent for everyone involved, allowing for better coordination. This led to more efficient transport operations, meaning fewer locomotives were needed. At the same time, the use of transport wagons was reduced to 90% of the original requirement. As a result, the temperature losses of the pig iron were reduced to the same extent, which led to significant savings in energy costs and facilitated the subsequent processes in the steelworks.

The system has been in continuous use since its implementation and was successfully updated in 2018 and 2024.

For the project, we used an adapted form of Scrum that was tailored to the needs of a small, pragmatic project team. Development took place in short iterative cycles (comparable to sprints), with the interim results being agreed with the customer in a timely manner.

Communication took place via regular personal meetings, web conferences and emails, so that requirements could be taken into account flexibly and implemented quickly. CODEFUSION delivered all milestones on time and was always available to respond to our needs. The close coordination and transparent communication contributed significantly to the success of the project.

I'm the technical manager for mobile IoT and software at ifm group. We develop and supply sensors, controllers, software, and systems for industrial automation and digitalization. Our company offers end-to-end solutions from shop floor integration to ERP for global supply chain management.

What was the scope of their involvement?

CODEFUSION has designed the UX/UI of the solution and built the backend and frontend applications. The platform connects through APIs to other subsystems, but the value comes from the solution built by CODEFUSION. On the backend side, they’ve implemented connections to various APIs of different subsystems. Recently, they’ve also implemented an SSO solution that connects to our internal IDP. On the frontend, they’ve designed and implemented numerous components to build our portal. Apart from that, they also consult and guide us through the development process.

We have more than 12 people from their team working with us.

We got in touch with CODEFUSION through a contact in our production site, which is also located in Opole, Poland.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in April 2018, and the project is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Basically, the platform has brought us more turnover in our product. We’ve made a jump by developing the platform, and since the start of the project, the turnover rate has been an average of +20% year-over-year for this particular product.

CODEFUSION’s project management is very good. They deliver what is scheduled and always on time. We communicate via Microsoft Teams and have physical meetings.
