FRED is an AI-enabled entrepreneurship education programme that shifts young people from job seekers to opportunity creators, building the mindset, confidence and practical skills they need to turn a business idea into a validated venture. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

• Update and improve our existing Bubble web app, making changes to features and functionality as our programme needs evolved.
• Build and integrate a new AI tutor into the app to give our learners personalised support as they work through the programme.

Scope of work

We hired the team to modernise the AI tutoring inside our Bubble web app and tidy up the app overall. The core of the project was consolidating 19 separate AI tutors, originally built on OpenAI, into a single tutor built on Anthropic’s Claude. That one tutor can hold different conversations depending on the topic and the part of the curriculum a learner is working on. Alongside this, they handled ongoing maintenance and fixes across the app, and reworked the logic behind our Huddle lessons, where learners set goals and reflect with guidance from the AI tutor.

Key deliverables

Built and configured one Anthropic-based AI tutor to replace 19 separate OpenAI tutors, able to adapt its conversation to each topic and curriculum area

Removed the old OpenAI tutors and fully integrated the new tutor into the app

Updated the UI so the AI tutor is presented more clearly to learners

Worked through a snag list of minor features that weren’t working, including fixing broken buttons

Updated workflows and rebuilt the Huddle lesson logic so the AI tutor properly guides learners through goal setting and reflection

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

19 AI tutors consolidated into 1, cutting the number of tutors we maintain by about 95%

100% migration off OpenAI: all old tutors removed and the new Anthropic tutor fully live in the app

All snag list items resolved

We had regular virtual meetings to go through progress and talk about what I needed next, and between meetings they kept me updated over email and WhatsApp, so I always knew where things stood. Deliverables came through on time, and when priorities shifted, they adapted without fuss. If timelines needed to move because more work was required, they flagged it early and kept us in the loop.
