When one of our clients needed help migrating their legacy application to a new environment, Clear Function was our first call. Their expertise was crucial in understanding the technology, defining requirements, and uncovering the hidden complexities that could affect the project's success. 

When the migration began, their team took the lead on all technical aspects, working efficiently and with good communication throughout. Once the migration was done, the Clear Function continued to be the go-to resource for development related tasks, supporting various initiatives on behalf of our client.

In order to perform our consulting work, we need to perform certain processes related to our banking clients' loan and deposit customer data. These processes require lots of staff time, both because of the sheer volume of the data itself and because of the complexity of our processes. We engaged Clear Function to assist us with automating these processes, thereby saving us a great deal of staff time and enabling us to elevate our data processing staff to higher and better uses.

We are implementing this automation in multiple phases, with each phase standing alone as a deliverable that we can operationalize, thus enabling us to benefit from increased efficiencies as early as possible. Our partnership with Clear Function is ongoing, but phases delivered thus far include the following:

1. The creation of a custom "button" in MS Excel that geocodes all account addresses by interfacing (via API) with a separate subscription service to translate the addresses into X/Y coordinates and then return a census tract FIPS code based on those coordinates. (This included, unexpectedly, assisting us as we navigated from our existing geocoding service - now discontinued - to a new service provider.)
2. Expanded functionality for the button, so that based on the FIPS code(s) returned for each account, a variety of demographic and Target Market data is automatically added to each report.
3. The addition of an ongoing maintenance arrangement, so that any minor issues with the button (or other dev matters that are not separately scoped) can be dealt with quickly. Our firm is presently working to meet a filing deadline (using the button to streamline our process) this week, but we will be moving into our next phase with Clear Function shortly.

• Creation of a button that geocodes all addresses within a report nearly instantaneously.
• Addition of functionality to the button, so that demographic data is automatically added to the report.
• Very short timeframes for modifying the button to accommodate a new API as a result of a geocoding vendor change.

Clear Function has consistently ensured that timeframes were clarified and then worked hard to meet our timeframes if at all possible. If the timeframe was unworkable, they have made sure to address the issue on the front end so that we have had no surprises. They have been extremely attentive to our needs and objectives, and we have felt well served throughout.

In contrast to all that we had heard about working with software developers, we found that Clear Function's culture suited us perfectly. This is the kind of team we like to partner with, and we love working with them.

Nothing material. Any misunderstandings or misalignments we experienced were few in number, minor in significance, and immediately owned and (if possible) remediated by Clear Function. When a project includes as many tiny details and moving parts as this one, miscommunication at some point is inevitable, and it is frankly surprising how smoothly Clear Function has managed this work.

I’m the VP of VIA Productions, a multimedia production company. We do video production and some software development for marketing and creative automation.

We developed a different tool in-house with another team. However, we used technologies that weren’t really scalable. We needed someone to come in and figure out how to rebuild the tool.

Clear Function provides custom software development services. They use C#, JavaScript, Angular, React, and AWS. They’ve also offered UI/UX design services; they’ve done all the frontend work for a website redesign.

In general, we bring the concept or problem we’re trying to solve. Then, Clear Function works to architect the best solution to achieve the results we’re looking for.  They deliver the creative assets and customize them, going through the whole development process.

Additionally, Clear Function maintains the tool after they’ve built it.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with 6–7 teammates over the past few years. We have a main senior developer and a project manager, and they bring in other team members depending on the task.

We’ve worked with them since September 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve seen the tool grow with our clients; there’s been a vast improvement in user retention. New users are coming in and using the tools regularly. We’re up by about 500% of users since we started working with Clear Function.

How did Clear Function perform from a project management standpoint?

They deliver on time and within budget. We communicate via Google Meet and email. We also use Jira for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have excellent developers; they can articulate and design around a business problem. Many developers just develop without seeing the business solution, so it helps a lot to have a team like Clear Function.

No, there isn’t anything I’d list at this point.
