Chrono Innovation assists us in building a large website. We've had interviews with their engineering staff and the head of the company to discuss our goals, timelines, and objectives. We've gone through design reviews and started the engineering side of the project. We've expanded to more development and backend work and are now working on full stack development.

Chrono Innovation helps us develop, test, and release the functionality of our website. The team has implemented the designs we've already created. Most of their work has been in React. Although Chrono Innovation provides maintenance and hosting, we haven't leveraged those services yet since we currently cover those needs, but it is a to-be-determined arrangement.

We've been working with 5–6 team members from Chrono Innovation, including a team lead, a project manager, and 3–4 developers, depending on the workload.

We started working together in September 2024, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The site is functional, and our customers use it. Chrono Innovation has been doing a great job, and we have a superb website. Our site isn't meant to be widely distributed, so we don't have many traffic metrics.

How did Chrono Innovation perform from a project management standpoint?

We've experienced some volatility in the roadmap because we've had to make design changes, but Chrono Innovation has adapted. Their frontend work has always been available, and they've had things done.

We used Jira and accommodated Linear because that's what we use in-house, and they've built a flow around it. We use Google Meet, Zoom, Slack, and email to communicate, depending on our workflow. We've also leveraged Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Chrono Innovation is a very dedicated team. When we need to get something done, they're willing to put in the required hours. It's been good to have Chrono Innovation as an available partner because sometimes you can have a contract where the provider only performs a set number of hours per week.

Chrono Innovation is constantly willing to do things when required, especially when deadlines approach. If they need to put in some extra time, they do it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, Chrono Innovation has an excellent process and does good work. We've learned their methods and styles, integrated more, and become comfortable with how their team does things. Our initial struggles were quickly remedied as we learned to work together.

Initially, communication was sometimes more challenging because we mainly learned about different cultures. We had some people from the US, some people not from the US, some people from Europe. It was like a fascinating melting pot of cultures. Since people have learned how everyone likes to work, everything has gone smoothly and has been good. I have nothing they could improve on.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have a solid understanding of the development lifecycle you're looking to achieve and what testing frameworks you want to utilize to have the right tools for the job.

With two development teams, there were times when we lost efficiency because we were trying to figure out what the other team was doing before we started to harmonize. It became less efficient than we wanted it to be. Later, we found a comfortable rhythm to expand.

Discussing the software development lifecycle and how that will work, from design, sprints, implementation, testing, definition of done release cadence, and release times, would maximize efficiency. This way, you'll ensure that Chrono Innovation has the right tools for the job and that everything is tested and released correctly.

We needed a custom technology solution to manage and track clinical trials in Canada.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Chrono Innovation has developed a customized database and web application for us from scratch. The public can use the app to request information about our clinical trials. The team has also designed the app, and we've provided them with a designer to ensure the app complies with Canadian accessibility laws.

They have connected the app to an international website's public API to automate information for us. The team has also created a unique clinical trial interface connected with multiple sites. The team is responsible for hosting and maintaining the AWS platform.

I work with 2–3 people, including Jean-Gabriel, the co-founder and CEO.

We found them through a referral. We had a solution with another vendor, but we couldn't continue with them. We found Chrono Innovation and briefly met with their executive team to understand our needs. We sent them the MVP document to ensure all our desired functionalities were included. They sent us a clear quotation, and we checked their references. We decided to go with them.

We started working together in October 2024, and the project is ongoing. We devised the project in two phases; the first was delivered in January, and the second will be delivered by the end of April.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The team respects the timeline, which is really aggressive. They have been attentive to our needs and achieved all the objectives. They've provided excellent customer service and communication.

How did Chrono Innovation perform from a project management standpoint?

We have a sprint every week or every two weeks to ensure we are on track with the project. The team has found and fixed bugs quickly. They've proposed to keep a spot open daily to address bugs the same day. We have a chat with them and a system to report bugs. It's easy for us, and they're quick to respond.

The team has been flexible and met the timeline. They've put in more developers at no extra cost. We use Jira and Microsoft Teams for project management and communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Chrono Innovation impressed us with their project management; they know and understand our needs. The timeline is the big challenge of this project. It's a really aggressive timeline, but the team is agile and flexible to ensure we’re happy with the development. It's really nice to work with them.

They helped us build and define our workflows for time tracking. It is very easy for the whole team to track the time worked on our different projects and for our different clients.

With the Slack integration, we get a reminder to update our time tracker. With Jira and office 365 integrations, our time tracking is pre-populated for us based on our assigned tasks and meetings. At the end of our fiscal year, it is very easy to create our SR&ED tax credits based on advanced reports automatically generated for us.

We wanted to outsource a fractional CTO and accelerate the development of our solutions. We already had full-time engineers working with us. However, we definitely needed senior supervision and additional resources to accelerate the process and ensure that everything was done right so that we could create scalable products.

Chrono Innovation acts as our fractional CTO, and they’ve provided us with additional resources to increase our development capacity and develop new features for our products. They’ve also helped us with maintenance and software architecture and infrastructure development.

Moreover, Chrono Innovation has helped us build out the documentation for our product, ensuring that we can keep developing it moving forward. As for the technology stack, we’ve used Java, Angular, AWS, and MySQL.

Chrono Innovation has helped me build a team of developers who are now working directly for me. Thus, they now simply act as our fractional CTO to oversee that team. However, they help us accelerate projects whenever needed.

One of the products that Chrono Innovation has helped us build is an automatic smart form for patients. When doctors prescribe a new treatment, they have to follow up with patients to ensure they’re doing well. With this product, patients receive a smart form to fill out, which helps doctors avoid calling their patients individually.

We found them through a friend of mine. Chrono Innovation’s CEO had a very good reputation, and my friend told us amazing things about him. Moreover, when I met them, we immediately clicked, and they understood my project very easily.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our revenue has grown a lot since we started working with Chrono Innovation. Additionally, we haven’t had any important problems with the products they’ve helped us develop, and they react very quickly whenever we have bugs or issues. For us, it was very important that our partner was very responsive, and they’ve been so thus far.

How did Chrono Innovation perform from a project management standpoint?

Chrono Innovation is very committed to projects, and they work harder than they bill us for. They want their clients to shine and succeed, and they take a lot of pride in their work. They thrive on their client’s success because that’s part of their values, and it shows. We communicate via Slack and Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Chrono Innovation’s founders are technical people, so they’re very good at understanding their client’s needs to ensure they don’t make costly mistakes. They’re very technology-oriented and talented people who help make good business decisions.

I can’t think of anything they could improve on. They work very hard, so I can only advise them to rest as necessary.

If you’re in the healthcare industry, choosing Chrono Innovation is a no-brainer. They have a lot of experience in that sector, as well as in many others. Additionally, make sure that your vision is clear and communicate as much as you can with the development team to ensure they’re doing the right thing.

I’m the head of engineering at Summer. We’re a startup based in New York trying to facilitate ownership of secondary homes, such as investment properties that are vacation homes. We have a try-before-you-buy business model.

The original goal was to build an MVP for the entire digital product and set up all the apps and backend connections with third-party software.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Chrono Innovation has been engaged since the beginning of the project. We initially knew the objectives we wanted to accomplish and what we wanted to do with the app. They collaborated with the design team to ensure we were targeting what was best for the MVP, so they were part of the initial process.

They’ve built an MVP for a web app and two mobile apps, one on iOS and one on Android. The product is a customer-facing booking platform and an app for our members. Chrono Innovation has developed the backend and acted as middleware between our CRM and other third-party tools. In general, the project involves a lot of data ingestion, exchange, and management through various APIs. Moreover, they’ve helped us with product management and offered a whole development team.

The app manages calls and third-party reservations on the backend, which get updated to a booking calendar. They’ve built the app in React and Expo, and Node.js on the backend.

Currently, they’re adding new functionality, such as integration with Stripe payments and improved data pipelines and release management. Overall, they’re building out the infrastructure and architecture to expand it to a larger audience in the future.

What is the team composition?

Right now, we have four full-time developers working on our project, two back- and two frontend engineers. Additionally, there’s a product manager, a tech advisor, a Scrum master, and a senior tech lead. On a monthly basis, we work with 4–6 people.

How did you come to work with Chrono Innovation?

Our founder is a former Airbnb, and one of Chrono Innovation’s founders worked for an Airbnb subsidiary, so they worked together at some point. When our founder was launching the business, he heard that Philippe (Co-Founder) had started his own shop, so they talked to see if the relationship would be mutually beneficial.

We’ve spent between $300,000–$600,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in January 2022; they finished phase one in June 2022. We currently continue to rely on Chrono Innovation to build out new features.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our number one KPI is going from starting the project in January 2022 to launching the MVP in June 2022. We can’t attribute the home purchases to them, but we’ve grown from two to over 12 home purchases in a few months. We’re also processing hundreds of reservations. Overall, the metrics that interest us the most are the number of bookings our members are making through the app and the number of bookings processed through a third party and making it into our CRM. Those incremental improvements to our ecosystem show that the data is flowing.

When I started in August, the sales team still used Google Sheets for our sales leads and reservations. Three months later, our sales and customer experience teams are working off the CRM, with data flowing in from other parties. All in all, Chrono Innovation has been instrumental in building pipelines ensuring data flow.

How did Chrono Innovation perform from a project management standpoint?

We don’t have a formal vendor relationship; we don’t have to put in requests or go through a ticket system. We’re happy with the progress; it’s been fluid. We’re trying to get results as quickly as possible but in a proper way. So far, we haven’t discovered any skeletons in the closet. Sometimes things take a bit more time, but we can quantify the work. When there are delays, there’s usually a proper justification or reasoning. Moreover, they’re always transparent and open in their communication. We mainly communicate through Slack and Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’ve been impressed with Chrono Innovation’s partnership, integrity, transparency, accountability, and work ethic. They’ve never tried to sell us something that we don’t know. They bring us ideas, but they’re also the first to tell us to cut down on scope or do something different to improve it. The team is very oriented toward our business and product success, and team members are very engaged.

We’ve also hit it off with the quality of their work and choice of technologies. Everything has been done well, and we feel like part of the team. We’ve worked with other service providers that do the work blindly. Chrono Innovation has been great because it’s a collaborative partnership, which allows us a lot of flexibility and elasticity in our capacity planning and growth plans. Overall, Chrono Innovation wants us to succeed, so they advise us and help in any way they can, despite their own interests.

No, we’re very satisfied. Any time there’s been conversations about improvement, it’s just been granular things. We haven’t had any significant issues. If anything, they’ve been able to bring on others to reduce any communication silence or friction.

I’d recommend them to anybody that needs an external development team. They do great work and are conscious about what’s best for your company and product. My advice is being open to collaboration; don’t go in thinking they’ll just follow orders.

We wanted to create a new platform from scratch. It includes a very large database which includes a lot of financial information. The project included all of the development outsourced to Chrono.

Several projects. Their services were required in order to quickly scale up our development operations

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

we shop around quite a few providers, but chrono were ahead of the pack in terms of efficiency, professionalism, costs and workforce

Several different and confidential projects. Mostly custom full stack development in PHP. One project had a really tight schedule and Chrono had to take over form day one and take care of every steps from analysis to QA. They did it while surpassing expectations.

On average 3 but we went up to 5-6 at some points throughout the year

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

None

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

They were an integral part of our team. Using same tools as if they were employees of our organisation. They would use on a daily basis Discord, Slack and our gitlab to keep us up to date as well as having an active role during dailies.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The people and the management team. They strive on success and you can feel it on every levels.
