Since our goal was to establish our position as a consumer-facing brand, we basically started from scratch. The team took us through a pretty extensive branding exercise that included updates to all of our logos and whatnot, but also included partner marketing materials. 
For instance, icons that partners could add to their bottle wrappers, etc. At the same time, we started a brand new website that focused on establishing a greater mystique around the brand, telling our story, and what made our hops (and other crops) better. The company also created a content marketing and social media program that we use to talk about our brand and ‌began publishing editorial and informational content about daily life on the ranch, harvest time, special partnerships, and more.

We had an instant positive response from our partners and requests for additional information, including several that turned into ongoing channel partnerships. Traffic to our website has increased about five-fold. I would also say that the brand has become and internal source of pride for us and our employees

Catalyst’s project management flow has been one of the high points of our relationship. To put it simply, it’s just easy. We have one point of contact, and they communicate with us regularly about a wide range of issues. They are very responsive and easy to work with. For social, they use a program that allows us to review and approve outgoing content when we have time, and we love it.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The team’s ability to equip us with the marketing resources of a much larger company on a smaller budget has been great. It’s not often that an agriculture business has a huge consumer following or the need for a marketing agency. This was a perfect fit for our team, though. It allows us to make critical decisions about marketing with experts without getting caught up in the particulars of how to build a marketing campaign or need a full-time person on staff.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Catalyst Marketing Agency could have done differently?

We really like the team and are still working with them. We’re always anxious to go even harder on the content marketing piece, but we’re also in a rural area, so understand that it can be hard to get photographers/videographers out. Really great experience overall and can’t recommend them enough.

As we moved from the research and development to fundraising phase, we hired Catalyst to do three things: Update and clarify our brand, create an explainer reel, and build a new website/landing page. The branding project included the development of a new profile, messaging, and visual assets like logos and lockups.

The explainer reel included onsite video production and post-production editing. The website included a complete redesign and technical development. We originally needed a paid media campaign for fundraising too, but we changed our fundraising strategy fairly early in the project.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Before engaging with Catalyst, one of the biggest challenges was delivering a clear and compelling description of the company, the technology, and its benefits. We’re still in the early stages of fundraising, but our target audience has responded well to the new materials. Conversations with investors and potential beta partners have gotten a lot smoother, and we feel like a stronger company.

Catalyst’s project management was collaborative in all the right ways; I could review progress and give frequent feedback at each stage of the process, but I wasn’t overwhelmed with the back and forth. They use a number of content editing and design tools to iterate quickly.

The development process lagged a bit in some places, but there was also a lot of back and forth as we shaped the messaging and made changes mid-stream. Nothing that would prevent me from reaching out to them again.

Our only firm “scope of work” was a team that could act as an agency-of-record to support ongoing marketing needs as they arose. Catalyst worked with us on hundreds of unique projects while they were with us, from building one-page sales collateral to whole websites. We used them as an off-site marketing team and they provided strategic, creative, and technical marketing support on both an operational and project basis.

• We landed a wide variety of projects that helped us begin getting outside our existing category (largely wine and spirits driven). They included one of the largest restaurant chains in the US to two enterprise wineries. Our sales cycle is slow, so it’s hard to attribute those outcomes exclusively to Catalyst, But, they came at a time when we had significantly broadened our communications efforts with them.

We really enjoyed working with Catalyst and workflow are one of their biggest strengths, to be sure. We set goals early in the process and their team sent us ‌monthly reports on progress. Their team used video, chat, and email to communicate and were flexible enough to embed right into our Teams account, so it was like we were working with an in-house resource. The collaborative system that they’ve created is definitely different than other agencies I’ve worked with in the past. It’s more personal and it doesn’t feel like we’re just another client.

They’re really on top of their game and are able to answer all of our questions in a thoughtful and detailed manner. The project team we worked with was essentially custom built for the goals we were trying to achieve and responsive to changes in our strategy very quickly.

There wasn’t much to complain about. They charge a little more than we initially planned, but we got a lot more than a independent contractor or new marketing employee. Hiring a full team with their size and skills, individually, would have made this impossible. I think they fill an obvious gap for those who are tying to scale and are debating how they can afford to bring on a big team all at once.

The Catalyst team created a beautiful and well-functioning website but delays in the loyalty and fulfillment aspect from a third-party developer and downward trends in the direct-to-consumer marketplace after Covid forced us to temporarily pause the project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The level of integration between the strategic, creative, and technical teams and our project manager was great. It was nice to have access to the subject matter experts when we needed them, but also great to have an overarching PM that guided us all the way through the project when we didn’t have time to get into the minutia. It felt very fluid and functional.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Catalyst Marketing Agency could have done differently?

Not a lot that stands out. I wish we were able to get to market earlier, but their team was blocked by slow downs from another partner and it became a chain reaction.

Communication was one of the most important factors to us when selecting a partner. The Catalyst team was prompt, easy to talk to, and understood the challenge we were trying to solve for immediately. Their proposal was well-crafted and provided clear deliverables, costs, timeline etc, so it was an easy choice.

We originally explored working with Catalyst to clean up our sales documentation, including one sheets, case studies, brochures, et al. During the discovery process they pointed out that many of the challenges with our current designs were rooted in branding. So, we ended up working with them to first clean up our visual communications materials (style guide components et al) and then to build a range of additional content for sales and marketing purposes.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Their strategists are actually their business development team, so it wasn’t some sales guy going back to consult someone about what we needed; more like a one to one conversation with a consultant. That person remained with us throughout the project, so it created a nice continuity between teams. Once we signed, the daily project communication was handled by our project manager.

I believe they called in their creative director once to resolve some branding conflicts, but we mostly dealt with the PM (who is great) for ongoing task management. When we have a new upcoming project we just hop back on the phone with the strategist to get things moving and it’s pretty rinse and repeat from there.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our refreshed brand materials got a great response from our executive team who thought that they felt more modern and engaging. We also got positive feedback from the medical professionals we work with everyday, telling us that the updated content has made it easier for them to recommend our products. We’ve also seen increased depletion of collateral in the offices themselves - meaning that more patients are engaging with and taking materials away with them for later reference.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Workflow and communication were great. Our project wasn’t complex in nature, but there were a lot of stakeholders (meaning back and forth). Catalyst’s PM tee’d everything up for us and let us know when they needed additional information. We were able to review each of our documents for feedback at multiple milestones throughout the process, so by the time we completed work, it was pretty simple to sign off.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their team has been very nimble and once embedded, able to pick up new requests quickly and without too much back and forth. We’re a sales-based organization and don’t have an onsite creative team, so having an external creative resource that is more than just a contractor, but less than a large Madison avenue creative agency has been a perfect solution for us. Their solution is really bundled, flexible, and easy to work with.

None that stand out at present. They’ve worked very hard to embed with our team and become our go-to resource for ongoing communications needs.

I’m the Chief Revenue Officer for a fintech platform that transcribes, aggregates, and distributes investor event data from well-known corporations in Asia Pacific to institutional investors globally. I manage our global sales and marketing efforts.

That has included building added definition around our brand, a new website, and ongoing communications work including social media management and email outreach as well as public relations. We wanted to drive deeper awareness and interest in our platform and increase the number of leads we were getting from our day to day outreach efforts.

We contacted a number of agencies we found through search as well as referrals from leaders at adjacent companies in the startup and fintech spaces. Catalyst's name came up several times throughout the course of that search. After meeting with their team, their ability to grasp the concept quickly, understanding of the communications ecosystem, and passion for their work was apparent.

We’ve worked with their team on two fronts: The first was on a project basis to develop a comprehensive set of visual and editorial brand guidelines and subsequently a new website. Secondarily, they manage all the ideation, creative, and strategic aspects of our ongoing communications strategy. That’s included social media, email, and public relations.

We work directly with a project manager on a day to day basis and less often, but still frequently with a marketing strategist as well as a handful of other creative and technical team members. Part of Catalyst strategy is to limit time suck by streamlining our direct communications with the actual service providers and it seems to work well. Between our two main points of contact, they spoke knowledgeably about our concerns and brought in additional resources from their team on an as-needed basis.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Catalyst helped us build a comprehensive set of brand standards making us more recognizable within our industry. They also designed and developed a new website which was a dramatic improvement on our legacy platform and gave our audience a clearer sense of the value of our data. Lead generation has also improved significantly, both in volume and quality, with leads being better informed on the value of our platform and its potential to impact their insights into the region.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Project management has been one of the company’s strongest suits; they have a great collaborative system in place and really know their stuff from an operations standpoint. During the branding and web design process, we met with their team on a regular basis to review progress and make decisions. For ongoing work we meet monthly, but communicate through chat and email. They’ve been very communicative, responsive, and engaged throughout.

Catalyst is more than a service provider. They function more like an off-site marketing team, deeply engaged in supporting our day-to-day outreach initiatives. I’ve really appreciated their honest feedback and willingness to spend time with us chatting about potential next steps and how to get the most out of our marketing budget

We’ve been largely impressed with the Catalyst’s team's work. There've been a couple of communications errors, but nothing out of the ordinary when you have this much back and forth. On the whole, they’ve been very willing to work with us in coming to a resolution on all occasions and we’ve gotten back to work quickly.

We liked working with them and hired them for the same services shortly after for our doughnut shop. We had not invested a lot in marketing in the past and were primarily interested in starting to grow our online presence.

The goal for this ongoing project is to reach more customers, better tell our story, and grow our businesses. We have continued to make improvements each month and have seen growth, despite the pandemic.

They produce our content which is images for our socials. Each month we do a photoshoot at each of our 4 locations. There is an agreed upon allotted time for the photoshoot and a minimum of images to be delivered.

This is then used for our organic and paid social media which is also managed by 1205. We have multiple accounts on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook and 1205 does an agreed upon number of posts/stories per week. And lastly, they also field all incoming messages through these platforms.

What was the team composition?

Their VP/Chief Program Manager, Doug, is one of my primary day to day contacts. The second day to day contact is an account manager; I have worked with 3 different account managers that have rotated through in the last year. They are always brought up to speed and it has been an easy transition when we have had these changes.

Rion, who is CEO, is also looped in on communication and available whenever needed. The size of team has remained the same over time - it is always Doug & Rion & an account manager.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have had an increase in sales and an increase in social media presence through growth in followers & engagement. We often have customers come in and say they want to order X item that was posted on our social media in the previous days - we had rarely ever had this happen.

Also, we have had to change our goals and metrics a few times over the last year due to the pandemic. 1205 has helped us navigate those pivots and worked with us to keep our marketing aligned with serving our business needs.

1205 has a great system in place - we use a communication platform as well as a post scheduling platform primarily and shared drive for content. They are transparent, communicate very effectively, and are open to any and all feedback.

I would say that the current success of the company lies in no small part to 1205 Marketing, who were willing to put in the extra time and work to get things running smoothly.

There was a single-point contact for the projects. I felt he was at my disposal and was accommodating to my varying requests as things moved along. This also allowed me to get a good run down of current status, as I could ask one person to provide it all.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I find it most impressive that they can find the resources required to accomplish any job. I have often asked for services and assistance that is outside of their normal line-up and certainly "above and beyond." They will tackle any task, while maintaining complete transparency, to ensure their clients are pleased.

KPI's for PR would definitely improve alignment of expectations.

They created a landing page for us with sections for each of our target audiences. They included all of the capabilities we wanted including coming up with a color scheme based on the ideas and suggestions we provided. They also customized certain features on the landing page such as a contact us box, testimonial quotes, team head shots, and language around our purpose and goals as a company.

What was the team composition?

The project team had 3 or 4 people. I worked with one project manager directly for the most part, with one or two others jumping on a phone call periodically to ensure that we were all on the same page in every stage of the development process from start to finish.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We had about 15 days to get a landing page up before we attended a conference and needed a place to direct customers to if they wanted more information about our brand or needed to get in touch with us. 1205 Marketing took our idea of this initial web page and designed and developed it in just two weeks. We were able to show the rest of our company how quickly we work and how serious we were about having a presence in this fast-paced market.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Project management was extremely impressive. They responded to us more promptly than any other customer or partner we have worked with in the past. Their turn around time for responses and meeting deadlines was unbelievable. If you need something done quickly that looks clean and professional, I would look no where else than 1205 Marketing.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I found their communication and turn around times to be the most impressive of all. They were very prompt, understood the scope of the project, and weren't afraid to give direction where they thought it would be helpful. Their input was very valuable to us and they were able to take very very rough sketches and ideas and turn it into exactly what we were looking for without much specification in terms of direction.

I honestly don't have any critiques for 1205 Marketing. I will work with them again in the future and am fully looking forward to it.

We had a website done by another developer with a lot of custom coding. Our marketing team could no longer update it on their own.

We engaged 1205 Marketing to redevelop the website and set up an organic SEO structure in the backend. Built on WordPress, the website is meant to be more informational, but it has some functionality and integrations with Salesforce to aid lead generation.

We had three main contacts: a designer and the two heads of 1205 Marketing. There may have been a fourth or fifth for backend coding.

I knew the founder on LinkedIn and had heard a lot of good things about him. We hired them for a small project and they turned it around so fast and efficiently that we felt comfortable hiring them for a larger engagement. We didn’t consider other options because we had such a great, hands-on experience with 1205 Marketing already.

The project started in August 2019 and wrapped up in November the same year.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s too early to tell results from data, but just integrating the new site with Salesforce makes it easy for us to capture information and generate leads. From the beginning, 1205 Marketing was extremely engaged and helpful. After we gave them our specifications, they gave us a timeline and ran with it. Based on minimal feedback and knowledge of our business, they could deliver a creative solution to achieve our goal.

How did 1205 Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

They tracked out the timeline week by week, and we used shared documents to measure progress. They were good about giving us tasks in a digestible format that made them easy to execute on top of our existing work

What did you find most impressive about them?

They jumped into the work right away—there was no lag or ramp-up time. They were familiar with our brand already, and their ability to scale up made it easy to work with them. We’ve since engaged them in more small projects and are considering working with them on larger projects because that innate understanding lets them work so much faster
