I’m the founder and CEO of Explorator Labs; we’re a custom software development company specializing in web and mobile applications. We service customers ranging from startups to small-to-medium-sized organizations.

We’ve worked with ByteCorp Technologies on a range of projects. Most recently, they supported our internal website development efforts. We designed the website internally, and they developed it using Node.js, React.js, CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. They also created a submission form for users to request our services. They customized the form to email us directly when users complete it, so we can avoid managing our forms through a third-party. 

They also helped us develop a web and mobile application for one of our clients. The apps are available on iOS, Android, desktop and mobile.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

ByteCorp Technologies delivered everything on point with regard to the new website. They incorporated everything we asked for from a design standpoint. 

The website is simple and picture-perfect; we have no complaints. It has also helped us achieve our goal of promoting a better brand image. We’re also pleased with the contact form they created.

How did ByteCorp Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

I co-managed the project alongside ByteCorp Technologies, and we had some ups and downs, but overall, they did a great job. They delivered the project on time, on budget, and according to the requirements. 

Some of our requests were too complex for one of the developers to implement, so they assigned another developer to our project, which was helpful. The second developer fulfilled our needs quickly, which enabled us to push the project out on time. With regard to the web and mobile apps, development projects are never perfect, but they addressed bugs immediately and at no extra cost. We used Monday to manage the project and Slack to communicate. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

ByteCorp Technologies gave us a discount because we’d worked together before, but I was most impressed by their reasonable pricing. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Since we had a significant time difference, it was often difficult to communicate effectively during our working hours. It would have been helpful for ByteCorp Technologies to provide a list of objectives, so we could track their weekly progress.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Developing custom software requires constant investment and maintenance efforts. It’s important to manage expectations and approach the project with a clear understanding of the software development process. Also, keep the time difference in mind and communicate with them as soon as something comes up.

We are a Florida-based Digital solutions and services company, offering end-to-end digital, design, development, and cybersecurity services to our clientele in North American, European, and Pacific Asian regions. I look after the augmentation for different incoming projects at Ideators as a Project Manager, where we allocate and dedicate specific teams as per the client's requirements.

Our company heavily works on staff augmentation and for some critical projects (e.g. Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Web3, etc.), we also engage other specialized software firms, such as Bytecorp who have significant work experience and exposure in the domain of AI and Machine learning.

How did you select this agency and what were the deciding factors?

We had a conversation with the core leadership at Bytecorp and reviewed some of the key projects they did for clients. Their work model and team exposure to some next-level technologies helped us to decide in their favor and we made a bond of selecting their teams for some of our incoming AI projects.

Our project was inaugurated through the commencement of project overview, project scope collection, business requirements documentation, resource shortlisting, resource interviews, and onboarding.

Though Bytecorp already had pre-vetted technical teams of AI engineers, it did not take much time in interviewing and shortlisting the right candidates, however, we considered conducting one round of screening and a final round of onboarding interviews for our desired engineers.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

As the project is in progress and will be going on a long-term basis, we have observed a significant contribution from every member of Bytecorp, at every step of the engagement. They are rich in ideas and execution, from ideation to the execution phase.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Bytecorp has a similar work structure, communication channels, and time zones as ours, so we never face any gaps or flaws in the workflow.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are young, energetic, and have a solid grasp of thinking critical side of programming. This is indeed worth more than other attributes they possess.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

So far, we have not monitored or noticed anything which requires their attention, they are doing well.

I’m a former senior business system analyst at one of the top research universities globally.

What challenge were you trying to address with ByteCorp Technologies?

As a research university, we engaged upcoming talent that could provide us with design and AI services. We leveraged data in predictive analytics. Our team engaged ByteCorp in this work scope. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

ByteCorp helped us with the custom development of a piece of software with a web interface. We had a lot of data and needed to produce machine learning (ML) models on top of them. The team developed predictive analytics with this ML technology and delivered reports to us.

Their resources worked from scratch, but we provided them with documentation. We told them how we envisioned the product. Then, they created the wireframes. Since most of us were using Windows, the product needed to run on that system, but it was also compatible with macOS. 

What is the team composition?

I interacted with three people. We had discussions with one teammate, and another teammate came and took the detailed requirements from us. A technical lead was also involved in the process. 

How did you come to work with ByteCorp Technologies?

We explored companies that provided cutting-edge technology in Dubai, India, and other places. Our team looked into a couple of vendors, but ByteCorp had a specific ML technology they were developing in-house. That was the reason we chose them. Moreover, they had their own technical team and didn’t outsource any of their work. As a result, we didn’t have any issues like someone leaving during the project.

We invested over $10,000 before I left the company in June 2022. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We first engaged them in 2021, but this project lasted from March–May 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We measured the project’s success mainly by the delivery time — ByteCorp delivered the product a week ahead of schedule. Moreover, everything worked well, and there weren’t any major issues with the product. I only requested minor changes to the interface. 

How did ByteCorp Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

We received weekly reports and participated in regular meetings, discussing if they needed anything from us or had questions or clarifications. Initially, we had hour-long meetings. Toward the end of the engagement, we only spent 10–15 minutes since everything was becoming clearer. Our team used Microsoft for internal project tracking, while ByteCorp used Jira and Trello for project management. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team was highly qualified for the project and committed to it. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They can increase their team size instead of putting a lot of pressure on specific people. Based on our discussions, only 2–3 people focused on the UI/UX tasks and the requirements analysis. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be sure about what you need. Once you are sure about it, you can provide ByteCorp with your vision. They’ll then deliver a good draft. Align with the draft and move forward with it. Additionally, put everything on the table on day one, and don’t hide anything.

I am the CTO of a startup focused on creating digital solution for the Electric Vehicle market. We are a new startup with global presence.

Wes elected this vendor based on their capability and skillsets, primarily the AI based technology skillset that they bring to the table. They are also a one-stop shop for several other technology capabilities including UI/UX, Systems Design, Architecture, Development and Deployment.

We are digitizing a large chunk of legacy and institutional knowledge. This work requires focus and specific skillset to ensure data quality and accuracy. Once data is acquired, it is normalized and loaded into a custom built (Bytecorp is building it) platform where it can be consumed through omnichannel (web, mobile, tablets, ...). The second phase of the project requires building an ecommerce platform on top using industry leading technologies and develop a whole customer experience around the platform.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our goal is to support our customers reduce their procurement and sales cycle from months to days and possibly hours. A well designed and developed platform can enable customers to rapidly conduct their transactions without engaging several manual business processes.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very well. They are meeting timelines, actively engaged in sprint panning, actively engaged in testing and incorporating voice of the customer.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their communication skills and talented experts are top-notch!

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They are a young company who are growing as their exposure to market grows. They need to continue to be keenly curious of current marketplace and technology landscape so they can continue to refine their services. It is important to learn keenly about the market, key players, their offerings and their success/failures in the industry. ByteCorp is headed in that direction to continuously learn and iterate.

We’re still in the building stage of this complex app we’re trying to get up and running, but the team’s dedication to delivering our needs on time has been really impressive.

We needed a team to work with us within a specific daily timeframe and explore different algorithms and learning methods for stock-movement predictions.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

ByteCorp Technologies provided resources for software development from scratch. To jumpstart the process, we gave them standard web links for our domain, and consequently, they continued with the product building. We had to do a couple of different spins on the software and a thorough R&D process to fill the gaps and come up with what we were trying to achieve. Regarding technologies, they used Python and MySQL for the platform, which is intended for internal purposes.

Currently, they’re still providing maintenance to the system to keep evolving it.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We were building an MVP for our DeFi app and wanted to pitch it to potential investors. ByteCorp Technologies provided a resource who specialized in UI/UX design. Their team handled only the frontend of the app. They designed the whole thing and helped in developing the dashboard and content. The app was built using React.

We were also working on an AI-based product, and they helped us implement certain things.

I worked with two of the founding partners of their company; one of them was a developer, and the other was an AI engineer.

I knew them back in my university days. The founders of the company were my juniors at the university.

Whatever task we gave them, they executed it to perfection. They did everything the way we wanted it, and they also delivered everything on time. As a result, we were able to demo the app and raise some funds for ourselves. Overall, they overdelivered in this project.

They were always on time, and they were kind enough to make some changes that were not part of the initial agreement. We had requested the changes on the fly during the development. Their estimations at the time were also spot on. We used Linear for project management and communicated via Zoom and email.

We were impressed with their attention to detail; they were perfectionists.

For what projects/services did your company hire ByteCorp, and what were your goals?

Our organization was working to build an educational product combined with Artificial Intelligence in order to deliver a valuable learning experience for another organization that we had been working with. The major challenge that we had been facing was of a company which was well versed both in Software Development and real-life AI implementation. Our goal was to deliver a product that was easy-to-use, flexible according to our customer’s needs, and robust to cater to a huge number of students and large volumes of data.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We got to know of ByteCorp from a close friend, who had previously worked with them on another data intensive application. As with many other vendors, we conducted multiple interviews with their team, both in the area of Software Development as well as AI. Previously, over interviewed vendors either had an edge in AI, or in Software Product Development. With ByteCorp, what we observed was that their team was well-versed in both the domains, and had an in-depth understanding of AI application in our proposed idea, which is usually rare amongst many companies that claim to be doing AI.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The project started off with a requirements gathering session where we explained to the team what we are actually looking for. A project proposal along with the project plan was submitted to us, with a detailed breakdown of all the tasks that were to be performed. A design phase was then kicked off, where the design team at ByteCorp worked with us iteratively to first produce the Information Architecture, then the wireframes, and then finally the mockups and prototype.

Even before any code was written, we had a complete idea of what our product would look like. The development phase was then kicked off and web application and an admin mobile application was built as per our needs. The technologies that were used were React, Node.JS, and Flutter for Mobile App. The feature list was extensive including student learning behavior, live classes, student progress, notes and past paper provision, and many more. After the development was completed, we released the product to our users.

Once the data started flowing in, the ByteCorp team once again initiated their work to work on the AI features that we were looking for. They built an emotion-assessment tool that helped us better understand whether a student was understanding what was being taught to them. A recommendation system was also built to suggest relevant material, hyper-personalized for each student so that the best material could be suggested depending on the learning style preferred by the individual. After handing over of the project, the team facilitated us in learning the system and provided us a complimentary 1-month support for any problems that we may face.

A team of 8-people was working with us. On the design team, we had the design lead coordinating with us along with one more individual. For the development, a team of 4 people were present with expertise in software development, testing, and deployment. For the Artificial intelligence part, we had 1 Machine Learning Engineer and 1 Computer Vision Engineer working for our required features.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

More than 15000 Students were using the provided product within the organization that we provided the system. The general feedback was highly positive with close to 97% positive reviews from our users. With the AI system provided, we observed a 46% improvement in the results of the organization. This was more than we had anticipated and we were highly satisfied with the results.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

The team followed a Kanban style approach for the development of our project. This was because as a product under development, we had multiple changes coming in with time depending on the user’s feedback. The tools that they used were Notion for Product Management, and Slack for communication. For design, they used Figma to demonstrate to us. The timelines were generally met as proposed, with a slight delay in the delivery of the AI module, due to the flow rate of the data that was to come from our users, and it turned out to be slower than expected initially.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The two factors that really stood out was:

1. Communication: The team was extremely responsive to our queries and complaints. Even after repeated changes, the team was open to cater for more until we were completely satisfied.
2. Transparency: At any given point in time, we were always aware that at what stage our product development was.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

One area that we would suggest is the enablement of rapid scaling of technical team, so that if a client is looking for more products to be developed in parallel, they can facilitate that side is well. This is good for the rapid scaling of the business.
