We collaborated on complex projects that involved automated email flows and lead generation popups initially, then ongoing email campaign management, followed by optimizations and advanced segmentations. We worked with two account managers and occasionally other team members, as well as directly with the clients. They were all professional and knowledgeable.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

With the clients we served together, we’ve taken them from little or no revenue from emails, up to 30% monthly revenue attributed to our email marketing. Their deliverables are top-notch. I highly recommend their work.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We’ve had great communication via Slack, Skype and email. Always dependable and helpful.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their professionalism, prompt communication and great results.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

None - I wish all agencies were as good as they are.

I’m one of the co-founders of a company that builds applications for digital marketing, including SEO and PPC for various industries.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Essentially, they’re working with us for a client of ours to set up all the automation workflows — both out-of-the-box and custom flows. They also run campaigns on a monthly basis, which involves them going over the subjects and contents of all the messages at the beginning of the month. We don’t usually have to make too many corrections, as they hit the nail on the head for the most part.

We’ve had 1–2 issues with verbiage that our client isn’t allowed to use based on governmental regulations, but that’s understandable.

They’ve also helped us with conversation rate optimization; we’re in the process of swapping out themes. There was a lot of work there, and we still have some follow-up calls to complete in this area.

When we first started with them a few years ago, we talked with Ben (Business Development Manager) as the project lead, and then Daniel (CEO & Founder). Valentina (Account Manager) took over Ben’s position and is working with us on the conversion rate optimization.

We were searching for an email marketing team that we could outsource to. There was another company we were looking at as well, but I’m not sure why we ended up choosing Budai.

We’ve spent around $50,000­–$60,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since September 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our sales attributable to email marketing have risen 84% YoY since Budai has come on board. Nobody is perfect, so I’m not going to say that I’m 100% satisfied, but we’re definitely happy with their services.

How did Budai Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve stuck to their timelines. Obviously, prices increase with inflation, so the budget has increased over the years, but that’s to be expected. Currently, we communicate over email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Communication is definitely a strong point, as they are quick to respond to questions. The results are definitely present as well. Their email marketing in general stands out as well.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Being offered insights on what we could do better ourselves would be great, rather than us having to find our own solutions online. I would love to see them over more ideas about the software out there that could increase our sales.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You’ll see great results if you have an e-commerce store and haven’t tapped into email marketing before. Budai has definitely figured out the fundamentals of email marketing to increase your revenue.

The project involved creating various email flows that would help tell our brand story to new customers and convert leads into sales. They also worked with us to create and execute an ongoing marketing calendar which included relevant content, sales events and product launches. They also helped us create a loyalty program.

We worked with an account manager who we were very happy with. He was always prompt and helpful and we could rely on him to do what he said he was going to do. They also had a design team that helped us with much of the graphic design work.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our revenue from email as a percentage of total revenue is very high due to their work. In some months we generated 50%+ revenue from emails which is highly profitable revenue, and a testament to their work. They have also done sales campaigns for us, some of which resulted in multi 5 figure revenue per email.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication was easy, we had a bi-weekly call and our account manager was always available via slack in between. Whenever we ask for something, they always deliver it in a timely manner.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Just doing the basics well is simple but impressive. We always had confidence that they would deliver and exceed on their promises in a timely manner. We never had to chase up anything. It was all smooth and effective, and the results speak for themselves.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Sometimes the design aesthetic didn't fully match our brand identity, but this was resolved by collaborating directly with our own designer, and they were willing and able to work with us on this.

I hired Budai Media Agency because I wanted to improve the % of revenue from email and the overall revenue. I wanted to set up high-tier flows and high-tier campaign emails to send monthly in order to nurture the audience, build relationships and trust. I was looking for an agency that could independently manage email marketing for my business providing high-performing results.

How did you select this vendor?

I chose Budai Media because they offered a lot compared to the price they charge (which also brought a good return), and it was hands-off for me. Besides email marketing, they also managed my SMS and Messenger marketing by creating SMS and Messenger flows, widgets to collect more subscribers, and by sending monthly SMS campaigns.

Before starting out with the development of the customized email marketing strategy for my business, we had an onboarding process where I had to fill out a detailed questionnaire prior to the onboarding call I had with the account manager. This helped them to get an overview of the business and better understand the tone of voice, the style, and the pain points of my audience in order to come up with solutions to solve their problems.

Those solutions were provided through emails, namely the content and trust emails. Besides content and trust emails, they were also running sales events email sequences offering different incentives. Then, we set up the flows, popups, and the 15 email campaigns to send every month (ongoing email marketing service) according to what emerged during the onboarding process.

What was the team composition?

The team consists of the account manager, who is the point of contact between me and the rest of the team and with whom we were discussing the overall results and what we could have improved moving forward. It was always nice to exchange ideas and implement new things in order to improve the results.

Besides the account manager, there are other 4 experts in the team, namely a dedicated copywriter in charge of the copy of each email, the designer aimed at designing the emails, the editor/Klaviyo expert who schedules all the email campaigns, popups, and flows, and the Quality Assurance who make sure that everything is set up correctly before sending out emails to customers.

I am happy with the workflow between the team. It was easy and smooth. The communication between me and the account manager was effective, fast, and accurate. She was regularly updating me with the progress and latest results of some A/B tests they were running (both for emails and popups).

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was very impressed by their knowledge and expertise. They always knew what they were doing and willing to try new things that could have been beneficial for my business. They followed my requirements for the letter, they always strive to reach my business goals and they produced amazing high-tier email designs.

Is there any area for improvement or anything that could have been done differently?

• List cleaning.
• Sending emails to all our lists instead of the important engagers (and potentially damaging our future emails).
• Charging less for small edits/new designs/etc

I have an account manager who is incredibly competent and keeps put projects on track. He is the face of the company and has specialists working alongside them.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

They drove 52% of our sales over the Black Friday period, from both automated flows and campaigns they sent.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our account manager is great at sending well organised updates and sets out very clearly what is required from me to approve work. Apart from a small bottle neck before BFCM where both of our scheduled got locked up and the workflows got a bit hectic, I cannot fault their project management. Their communication is very good.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They get the job done to a high standard. We've had issues with email marketing and general marketers in the past where they don't understand our positioning at all. But Budai Media's copy writer is very effective and we rarely need to edit their copy. Overall I let them get on with the work and they have built my trust now where I know they'll do a good job without supervision.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

As mentioned, the BFCM project management got pretty hectic. But that time of year can get crazy. Overall please keep doing what you're doing.

We were able to turn over the project to Budai, and they took the reins. We are so used to providing all of the strategy that it was nice to sit back and watch them work, and to see the results increase consistently throughout the project timeframe.

We started sending out email campaigns, (ongoing services) alternating between content/trust emails and promos/sales events. I saw fantastic results within a few weeks - I’m extremely happy with the team and the work done. The Budai Media service includes comprehensive email marketing management, along with routine email list cleaning and inbox rate monitoring.

Last but not least, their ability to fully understand my brand and needs really amazed me. I could see that they are very passionate about what they do and care about success.

I’m the co-founder and director of operations at a digital marketing agency that specializes in SEO.

What challenge were you trying to address with Budai Media?

One of our clients approached us to conduct an audit and give recommendations to help them improve their website conversion rate. We didn’t offer conversion rate optimization (CRO) services, so we needed a vendor who could provide the solution to help our client fulfill their goal, which was to convert more traffic into sales.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Budai Media helped us with a CRO project for our client’s e-commerce website. They first came up with a checklist to help them analyze the different elements of the site, including design, usability, content, and reviews. Additionally, they looked at the competition and went through the client’s social media for user-generated content. 

The Budai Media team went through all these one by one and researched on their own. Then, they provided a list of recommendations on the changes the client could make to improve their conversion rate. The deliverable was basically a detailed spreadsheet that enumerated various action items.

We worked with two teammates. Daniel (CEO & Founder) acted as the strategic manager, while Ann (CRO Expert) worked with us daily and executed most of the work.

We found them on Upwork, where we posted a job listing. They applied, so we had an initial call to go over the project. We talked about our expectations in terms of deliverables, communication, and deadlines. Their expertise really aligned with what we were looking for, so we hired them.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project lasted from August–September 2021. It was a six-week partnership.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We were pleased with how everything turned out. In terms of metrics, I don’t have any to share because the client hasn’t executed the strategies yet.

How did Budai Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They had excellent communication skills. We initially used Upwork chat and then moved to our company Slack. We also had a couple of calls on Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team was very reliable and would always respond when we had questions. Since they were so communicative, we always knew the project’s status. It was easy to track how things were going and ask questions when they came up.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I really can’t think of anything they could’ve done better. It was a smooth process.
