BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

Co-founder of 16 year old e-commerce company, Minimus.biz, that has a number of divisions and sister companies. E-commerce focus is on 2500 SKUs of travel size toiletries and single serving food items both B2C and B2B.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Brisbane Digital doo?

Given our company growth into a variety of areas beyond e-commerce, we had been spending less time on SEO and PPC work and given all of the changes to the algorithms, and an upgrade to our software platform, we wanted a company to come in and assist with improvements to get us more current.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to have a company review the areas where we could tackle many of the low hanging fruits that could improve our SEO, with the ability to understand the unique aspects of our business.

How did you select this vendor?

Everyone is a digital marketing expert, or so it seems. Thus, we wanted to find a company that approached things in a way that was more strategic, clever, and could incorporate our unique company and the goals we wanted to achieve.

We learned that the way in which SEO is approached around the world is different and there was a tendency with firms in Australia to focus more on the technical aspects of SEO versus the content focus that was more of the U.S. based approached.

This fit well with the changing software that we had and finding ways to make the changes from the tactical and technical software side versus looking at it more as a content machine for obtaining keywords and links.

Describe the project in detail.

The project took a very technical and tactical approach to the way our software and the website content was being seen by the search engines and addressing the areas that could easily be improved. It was a very collaborative and hands-on approach where Brisbane walked through all of the areas where we could make improvements and we made the changes together.

After focusing on the lowest hanging fruits and those that provided the best results, we moved onto the next layer of improvements in order to ensure that we captured all of the elements that were more critical to the user experience.

Rather than trying to "out game" the system, the approach was much more about improving the user experience which is really what the search engines are trying to capture and reward.

What was the team composition?

Brisbane had a main point person to work with, and they worked internally with a technical team, and a content team.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We saw a quick lift in our search engine rankings, and an improved user experience on our website. We were also provided a roadmap for doing some of the maintenance adjustments post-project on our own for some of the less important tweaks, but where it made sense to continually improve.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Really enjoyed the experience and how Brisbane presented their findings at our weekly video Skype calls video slide decks and links to documents that spelled out exactly where the issues were, and how to tackle them, with concrete suggested changes to be made. The rep was able to cultivate the information internally in between meetings and present live, and be fully knowledgeable to make adjustments on the fly during our consultation sessions.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They focus on the technical side of SEO with in-depth analysis and concrete solutions for improvements, and their staff have a depth of knowledge.
