Brew Interactive tried their best to get the job done. Everyone on their team was truly devoted and believed in our project.

Their communication skills were good, and they adhered to our schedules. We communicated via emails, Zoom, and phone calls, and our meetings occurred twice weekly.

What challenge were you trying to address with Brew Interactive?

I founded my company on my own two years ago. The company grew with new clients; we now have 10–12 clients for whom we handle 360-degree communication services, from social media to PR to SEO. Therefore, we needed to measure our effectiveness and manage our time. 

In our industry, it can be challenging to visualize the work done at the end of each day. Someone might work for a whole day on PR messages or storytelling, and the resulting deliverable may look small to someone who doesn't know how long the person worked on it. We asked Brew Interactive to build a software solution that would enable us to show the client the effort that goes into our results. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Brew Interactive built a custom time management software product for us. First, we met with Brew Interactive to explain our needs so that they could ask questions. Then, we met to discuss the software's implications. Brew Interactive built the software solution in around six months using React, PHP, and Node.js. 

Brew Interactive created the solution for my team's specific usage; it lets me see who did what and the total time spent working for each client to report that to them. For example, an employee who has worked for three hours on a client's project can log their work entry. Within the same solution, I can preview the PR text that the teammate has written.

I was in contact with teammates on the project management side, including Asli (Project Director). I'm unaware of how many developers were assigned to my project.

The project lasted from around June 2022–February 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Brew Interactive's quality of work met my expectations, while their mentorship in using the software solution exceeded them. Before working with them, I was scared of digitalizing time management, fearing it would mean extra work. Brew Interactive explained that the adjustment would initially require effort but would be better for us in the long run once we got used to the change — their encouragement was important.

Before implementing the time management software solution, we couldn't report the whole of our work to the client, only sending the final results, such as videos and social media posts. This method didn't reflect that delivering a social media post might take three hours and 10 revisions. Thanks to Brew Interactive's work, we could report our efforts to our clients. 

Additionally, the solution enabled me to see which team members were busy with something. We're a seven-person team with three graphic designers, two account representatives, a marketing teammate, a video-focused teammate, an assistant, and myself. The solution Brew Interactive developed enabled me to see when a graphic designer spent a day making a presentation, for example, which helped me manage my team's workflow.  

How did Brew Interactive perform from a project management standpoint?

They led well-organized project management and communicated well with me. We used email and Google Docs to communicate, and Brew Interactive used Notion as its internal project management tool. The team shared their Notion workspace with me so that I could track the project's progress.

Moreover, Brew Interactive considered our company's small size; they gave us a discount and helped us find what we needed even though they don't generally work with low-cost projects. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed by Brew Interactive's industry knowledge. The team understood my business as if it were theirs. They felt like an internal team instead of a third-party provider. Moreover, their work was a team effort; they all understood my needs and delivered accordingly. The project management team built the bridge between us and the development team. Overall, I was happy on all fronts, including the technology chosen, their project management, and the billing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Although everyone can improve something, Brew Interactive's services didn't need any improvement in this case; they were perfect for us. 

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Give Brew Interactive as much information as possible to start the project. This way, they can understand your business and project needs. Digitalization services will change from person to person and business to business, so you should know your specific needs and share them precisely so Brew Interactive can deliver on them. For example, if you want an e-commerce website, decide what kind and with which characteristics.

 I’m the co-founder and CEO of Finsmart AI, a startup company that provides automated financial reporting systems and AI-based CFO services to small and medium-sized enterprises.

What challenge were you trying to address with Brew Interactive?

We needed help with UI/UX design to create the overall system foundation for our web platfrom.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Brew Interactive first looked at our current system screens and assessed what we wanted to achieve. From there, they created the entire UI/UX designs for our web platform. Throughout the process, they guided us through the design process and explained how users would react to the different design elements they created. For example, they explained that the color blue would convey trust.

Moreover, Brew Interactive helped us create the user flow. Given that I'm a finance person, and my partner is a developer, we didn't have the experience in user personas. Thus, Brew Interactive showed us the different customer journeys.

Through our platform, we show our customers their financial performance and some detailed information. Therefore, there's a lot of information on the screen when users use our platform. Nonetheless, Brew Interactive set up everything in a way that we could show only the important information for each user. In addition to the UI/UX designs, Brew Interactive created a UI/UX guidebook for us to use in future iterations. They also worked with our developers to implement those designs.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were highly satisfied with Brew Interactive's designs. The most outstanding result is the legacy they left behind. We're still following the guidebook they provided us with, so even though they left the project, we can continue working on our platform on our own. Basically, they taught us what to do and how to do it moving forward. Their guidance was very important because we're now more comfortable managing our platform's UI/UX.

Before working with Brew Interactive, the designs we had were our final designs, but those had been created through our eyes only. Using their expertise, they developed our user personas, providing us with a new perspective on how users look at our platform. Their team not only provided us with very good designs, but they also helped us understand how to look at our platform through our customers' eyes.

How did Brew Interactive perform from a project management standpoint?

Brew Interative's project management was very good. Their team worked very closely with us throughout the engagement. From the beginning, we agreed upon a schedule, and we stuck to it along the way. Overall, project management was never an issue, which was good. As for collaboration tools, we used Jira for project management. We also communicated via Zoom meetings all the time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were very satisfied with Brew Interactive's work overall, and we really liked their teammates' personalities as well. We really clicked on the personality side. Currently, our platform is only a web platform, but we also want to make it mobile. If we do so, we will have another project with Brew Interactive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing stood out as an area of improvement for them, which was good. If anything, it would be great if they were cheaper, but that would be cheap of us.

Be very open and communicate what you expect from them from the beginning. Brew Interactive cares about their clients. Thus, the more details you provide on what you want, the better and more comprehensive their response will be.

What challenge were you trying to address with Brew Interactive?
We needed help with integrating the pages on our finance website. We didn't have frontend developers at the time, so we needed a quick solution for our website to be alive. Brew Interactive had built our original website in 2012, so we now needed them to integrate these pages using a new design system.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?
Brew Interactive integrated the web pages on our finance website. Initially, we provided them with the UI/UX design system components and templates, and they used those designs to build the web pages. As for the technology stack, they used Node.js, Next.js, and Stripe. This financial website was mainly a tool for comparison. Through it, we compared loans using a comparison algorithm.

I worked with 7–8 teammates from Brew Interactive.

We worked together from May 2022–May 2023. This was our third project with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
As mentioned above, our original project was launched in 2012. That project was successful, but for this project, we needed a new design system. After the new web pages were launched, we noticed an increase in organic users, which was successful for us. Still, the main result was that through our new landing pages, banks were able to advertise their products with us. Thanks to this, we got approximately 100% new customers than before.

How did the company perform from a project management standpoint?
For this project, we worked together with Brew Interactive as if they were our scrum team. Every week, we got together, and they showed us the progress. We also provided them with feedback before continuing forward with the project.

The team was great at project management. For example, during the third-party integration process, we forgot about some of the next steps we needed to follow. Still, Brew Interactive was great at pushing us in the right direction.

As for communication, Brew Interactive adapted to what we wanted. Whenever we needed a quick response, we could call them directly over the phone. Additionally, they sent us information via email. Overall, our communication was very good.

What did you find most impressive about them?
I would like to congratulate the entire Brew Interactive team. Their team members were great at their jobs.

Are there any areas they could improve?
After they delivered the work, we needed to rewrite many of the pages to solve certain issues, which took us an additional 1–2 months. That was why we didn't continue with them for maintenance services.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
The thing that prevented us from having an excellent project with Brew Interactive was that we provided them with a design system, so they had to stick to it, so they couldn't do their best. If you have a web development project, you can trust them with the design as well, and they'll deliver wonderful things — they're really good at that.

We needed to outsource our front end development as freelancer costs in the UK were not feasible for where we were at as a company. We required a team with good experience and skill sets to allow us to accomplish our development needs.

We shortlisted three potential agencies. Following final discussions Brew stood out to us as the agency that was most capable in providing us with the flexibility and support needed for us to launch our product.

Brew were able to pick up existing development and build on top of that based on our defined feature requirements. We ran two weeks sprints with the team and carried out a sprint planning exercise with the Brew project manager. We also received weekly budget reports which helped us in our financial planning.

Approximately 6-8 people from Brew works with us. These individuals ranged from developers, project managers and also QA. All members of the team were very helpful and great to work with.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

With the help of Brew we have been able to iterate our products and ship out new features to our customer base. We have also been able to fix multiple existing bugs on the fly and send out speedy releases to patch these bugs. The team is very responsive and are willing to adapt to ensure their clients are satisfied.

Brew are organised and Are able to provide a strong project management structure. This was fantastic especially at a start-up as sometimes organisation is lacking. Also the utilisation of Jira and Trello were extremely helpful.

Their willingness to help and the quality of work they produce are impressive. Both of these items really allowed us to build the foundations of our start-up (i.e. being a lot more organised and having a centralised source of information)

After the project got delivered, we saw an immediate increase in efficiency within our warehouse management and the whole operation became a lot more transparent.

Brew Interactive is the contract digital agency of Hasbro Turkey for 6 years.

Brew Interactive team has developed an online catalog that includes all Hasbro products we offer for sale in Turkey. The platform is a closed system that we open only to our business partners and can be accessed through membership.

Our business partners can access critical information, visuals, and marketing materials about the product range they are interested in. Users can download high-quality product images or videos and they also can create their own product brochure thanks to the "create pdf" feature.

One project manager, one designer, one frontend developer, and one backend developer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

With the tool Brew produced for us, our retailers are able to download product assets and information very effectively. We faced no technical issues. Our retailers also gave positive feedback about the tool.

We were able to work as if we were one team. Thanks to open communication, good project management skills of Brew, and hard work we were able to implement the project in a very short time.
