Brevitaz development helped us enhancing and stabilising product in which worked spanned from cloud development, third-party api integration, some parts of devops, test automation, manual testing and documentation. Team explored the functional area and technologies mostly independently which ensured minimal hand holding and saved a lot of time.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

They know how to reign the chaos. We wanted Brevitaz to manage one of the complex product module in Advertisement domain. Brevitaz management and development team helped us streamlining processes and also helped enhancing the product in the most meaningful ways. 

Product included complex cloud native architecture and tricky third-party integrations which they handled seamlessly and ensure good quality deliveries all the time. Their proactive collaboration on work and constant feedback cycle proved to be pivotal to success of the project. They helped with their proactive suggestions on improving the way Agile processes were implemented

What challenge were you trying to address with Brevitaz Systems?

They worked on a data related product for us. We had a large Java application that needed further development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They were the head of our development team, and they oversaw all the Java development. I was in charge of the product and application, while they took charge of all the programming. The requirements were very specific. They developed features that improved an existing product, an application that processes large data sets and allows users to manipulate them. They added a CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins, and they ensured there was zero downtime during the deployment. While most of their work was in Java and Elastic, they also worked in AnglerJS, GCP, BigQuery, Spring Boot, and Stripe.

What is the team composition?

The team size varied, but on average, we had one or two full-time developers that changed throughout the project. Our main point of contact was the lead developer, and we managed the project internally.

How did you come to work with Brevitaz Systems?

We posted a job on Upwork. Several firms bid and completed test tasks to gauge their capabilities. Based on their test task, they were the best developer for backend work, Java, and Elastic.

We spent around $50,000 on their work.

The project started in June of 2018, and we concluded our collaboration in March 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They completed development in an adequate time frame, and they worked well. The quality of their code is solid, and I would highly recommend them for any project in Java or Elastic.

How did Brevitaz Systems perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very dependable. We used Trello for task management and usually had a daily meeting via chat. If we needed to, we would have a call or video conference. Usually, just a few minutes of chat each day was sufficient.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were solid in the technologies they used and were good communicators.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could expand their range of services, especially on the frontend. I would highly recommend them for Java, but they could still expand their offerings.

I don't have any specific recommendations for potential clients; they're easy to work with.

I’m the CTO of Vitim. We’re building encrypted privacy technologies for community, collaboration, and communication.

For what projects/services did your company hire Brevitaz Systems?

We gave them full ownership of backend development, deployment, and monitoring of our aviation product.

What were your goals for this project?

We were enhancing our platform and planning to release new products to the market. With target dates to hit, we augmented our in-house development team with offshore developers.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

After engaging with several other vendors who couldn’t deliver the quality we wanted, one of my colleagues recommended Vishal (Founder, Brevitaz). They had read Vishal’s book about Elasticsearch, which is exactly the kind of expert we were looking for. After bringing them on for a test assignment, we agreed to a longer-term contract.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Our aviation product empowers helicopter pilots with emergency services to monitor weather forecasts and other critical information via web crawlers on third-party services and feeds. Brevitaz’s team contributed to diverse development areas within this aviation product.

One effort has them developing micro-services for ingestion and authorization and working with connectors in Apache Kafka. They’re also involved in DevOps, building dockers for services, setting up service monitoring capabilities, and preparing POCs in test environments. Finally, they’re developing Scala-and Akka-based crawlers to integrate with third-party websites and services.

What was the team composition?

At the peak of the engagement, we had four developers and one technical lead/architect. The latter played a major role in requirement management and communication.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

They grasped our requirements quickly and met quality expectations in spite of facing new technology and tight deadlines. As we gained increasing confidence in them, we invited them to work on an additional project in the aviation industry regarding surveillance systems. Here again, they conquered the challenge and provided high-quality deliverables. They were critical to our onsite customer demos and planned releases.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We synced up over Telegram and Slack to handle regular queries and used JIRA and Confluence for most of the requirement-, design- and architecture-related collaboration. They proactively scheduled calls and demos whenever desired and were highly responsive to our questions. We preferred not to have daily calls, so they successfully executed an Agile process and informed us about important decisions and conclusions.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They delivered good quality while working with cutting-edge technologies (Apache Spark, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Zeppelin, KSQL, etc.). We gained confidence when they quickly digested our modern sourcing architecture. Their strong analysis and design process ensures tasks are developed the correct way. Communication was also a highlight, as it made my job easier.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No, not that I saw. They’re experts in Elasticsearch. We’ll collaborate with them regarding any future needs we have.

I’m the founder and CEO of Benelog, an IT consulting company. We provide development and IT services to customers.

We were out of resources and needed additional development help for highly demanding client projects. We had a customer that wanted us to take over an existing system that proved wasn’t scalable. We needed a company that knew cutting-edge development technology and was able to develop highly scalable and distributable systems.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They were involved in architecting new systems using technologies like Java, Scala, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Spark, Grafana, etc. It’s in a highly scalable and load sensitive environment. Brevitaz Systems contributed to the architecture, development, and build of the whole development chain and environment.   

The first project was a transactional system. The second project was for analytical front- and backend development of a service licensed management application based on data. It not only needed to be visually appealing and innovative for presenting the analytics, but it also had to enable simulation and decision making based on that simulation. Furthermore, it had to be web-based, high-speed, and coded with real big data in the backend. It wasn’t easy, and it required a lot of skill sets to put it together. In that environment, they contributed from the system’s ideation to sizing the whole development process, and finally delivering.

Brevitaz Systems is still considered our first choice if we need to augment efforts on a project or open up a new one.

What is the team composition?

We have two to three people directly assigned, but there are more resources available as needed. The team is broadly knowledgeable and can move resources around. There’s also someone in charge of documentation.

How did you come to work with Brevitaz Systems?

I knew the owner from past projects I had done with them at different companies. He’s a very skilled person that’s able to talk to a lot of stakeholders to get to the bottom of problems and solve them. When I got in touch with him, I found that he had started his own business, Brevitaz Systems.

We’ve spent between $500,000–$600,000 so far.

We started working together in 2014, and the collaboration is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s been a fair partnership. Brevitaz Systems’ team doesn’t just execute the work, they’re an integral part of contributing to the solution by being involved from the ideation of projects. They proactively monitor our performance and code quality, conduct automated tests, and contribute to every agile cycle aspect. There has never been a real issue that needs a lot of attention.

How did Brevitaz Systems perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is excellent. They work in an agile way, and always deliver on time and within budget and scope. If there’s a foreseeable issue with the budget, staff, or something technical, it’s usually addressed before it becomes a problem. They’ve analyzed concerns in a professional manner and address them quickly.

Overall, they’re a perfect match for us. We communicate via Skype and use backtracking, documentation systems, agile platforms, etc.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It’s inspiring to work with them because they never just execute but rather really try to understand the problem that we’re trying to solve. They think things through and come back with an optimized approach. They had to go through hundreds of resumes to find the right resources for our project. Overall, we have complete trust in them.

Are there any areas they could improve?`

I can’t think of anything they can improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Ask for their knowledge and contribution; don’t let them just execute. Include them in the ideas and architecture discussion because they can really contribute good solutions.

We reached out to them because they have expertise in Elasticsearch technology, which we wanted to utilize to boost our reporting infrastructure. 

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

They’re heavily involved in the overall design and implementation of the architecture for this particular Elasticsearch technology. Vishal [Director, Brevitaz Systems] is directly involved in the modeling.

They’re basically building the necessary modules. Because we have an existing infrastructure, it takes time for us to absorb some of the work he’s providing. As a result, we have a gradual process where he’s helping with the design for each module, building as we need them, and then we’re absorbing them when we can.

How did you come to work with Brevitaz Systems?

We searched on Upwork, and I went purely by the company’s background provided in their biography/resume. They had all of the experience that we were looking for.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

We’ve spent under $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in May 2017 and have been working together since.

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

Everything that they’ve actually implemented looks good. All the code so far seems fine. Nothing has caused us any concern, but it’s a little too early for definitive results.

How did Brevitaz Systems perform from a project management standpoint?

We talk periodically, and they seem to know their material. They’re timely and responsive. We have a Skype call every week and email every other day. Vishal’s communication skills are excellent.

What distinguishes Brevitaz Systems from other providers?

They’ve provided everything we’ve asked. At this point in our relationship, I am exposing more of our internal products and trust them very much.  

Is there anything Brevitaz Systems could have improved or done differently?

No. I think we tend to be picky, but we trust them and appreciate their great design process.
