Boosty Labs developed two prototypes for a blockchain technology company. The prototypes were wrappers for the xAI, X API, and Cal.com API, turning them into on-chain pay-per-use operations.
Boosty Labs delivered fully functional x402 facilitator prototypes, demonstrating the generalization of x402 across different API categories. The team provided a reusable scaffolding and verified agent compatibility through live automated tests. They delivered on time and were highly responsive.

I am the AT GTM of Coinbase Developer Platform
Describe what your company does in a single sentence.
Coinbase Developer Platform is a unified toolkit that lets developers seamlessly create, fund, and operate on-chain applications - with embedded wallets, stablecoin payments (including x402), onramps/offramps, data APIs, and smart account infrastructure all in one place.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
1. x402 Prototype: Wrapper for xAI + X APIs
Boosty Labs built a prototype that exposes xAI’s model inference endpoints and selected X platform APIs behind a unified x402-compliant payment wrapper.
The prototype demonstrates how any third-party API—whether AI inference or social-graph data—can be turned into a pay-per-request service with automatic USDC settlement.
What the prototype does
- Takes a request originally meant for xAI or X’s APIs (e.g., model inference, post retrieval, search, metadata).
Intercepts it through an x402 facilitator endpoint.
Returns a 402 Payment Required response containing: - a price quote
a payment transaction payload
settlement instructions
After the client signs and attaches the USDC transfer to the X-PAYMENT header, the facilitator: - verifies the payment on-chain
forwards the request to the native xAI or X API
returns the full API response to the caller
Why it matters
This prototype shows that:
- API keys can be removed entirely in favor of wallet-based authentication and payment.
AI models and social-graph APIs can be monetized on a pure usage basis, ideal for agentic workloads.
Any LLM or platform API can be “x402-enabled” with minimal glue code, accelerating the supply side of the ecosystem.
2. x402 Prototype: Wrapper for the Cal.com Scheduling API
Boosty Labs also built an x402 facilitator that wraps the Cal.com API, turning scheduling and booking actions into on-chain pay-per-use operations.
- What the prototype does
Fronts Cal.com’s REST API with an x402-speaking middleware service.
When an agent or client attempts to create, modify, or query a booking: - the server returns a 402 Payment Required with a signed USDC transaction request
once paid, the call is forwarded to Cal.com via their API
Supports Cal.com primitives like: - creating bookings
updating events
fetching availability
triggering workflows
Why it matters
This prototype demonstrates:
- How everyday SaaS workflows (e.g., scheduling, booking, automation) can be made agent-ready and revenue-generating with zero human configuration.
How x402 can be a universal billing layer for SaaS services — enabling instant stablecoin settlement, precise metering, and no subscription overhead.
How developers can quickly convert existing commercial SaaS APIs into autonomous-agent-friendly services.
Short Summary of Both Prototypes
Boosty Labs successfully demonstrated that any third-party API—AI, social, or SaaS—can be turned into an x402-native, pay-per-request service with minimal integration.
The xAI + X wrapper shows applicability to high-volume AI inference + data APIs.
The Cal.com wrapper shows applicability to operational SaaS workflows.
Together, these prototypes validate that x402 can generalize across both AI and non-AI APIs, helping agents autonomously discover, pay, and execute workloads anywhere on the web.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Measurable Outcomes From the Boosty Labs Project
1. Two Fully Functional x402 Facilitator Prototypes Delivered
Outcome: Boosty Labs shipped two independent, working x402 integrations:
- xAI + X API wrapper
- Cal.com API wrapper
- Evidence of success:
Both prototypes successfully implemented the complete x402 flow (402 Payment Required → wallet signature → X-PAYMENT retry → successful downstream API call).
End-to-end settlement in USDC on-chain, meeting protocol compliance expectations.
2. Demonstrated x402 Generalization Across Completely Different API Categories
Outcome: The prototypes validated that x402 can wrap:
- AI inference + social graph APIs
- SaaS scheduling/automation APIs
- Measured progress:
Reduced integration time for a new API category from weeks to ~2–3 days.
Showed that a single facilitator implementation can support multiple heterogeneous upstream providers without protocol changes.
3. Established a Repeatable Integration Pattern (Blueprint)
Outcome: Boosty delivered reusable scaffolding for:
- price quoting
- payment payload generation
- transaction verification
- upstream API forwarding
- error handling + retries
- Quantifiable improvement:
Future facilitators can now be built 30–50% faster using this template.
Reduced complexity for new contributors by providing clear, modular example implementations.
4. Verified Agent Compatibility Through Live Automated Tests
Outcome: Both prototypes were validated with real agent-style workflows.
Measured results:
Agents were able to discover, quote, pay, and execute API calls without human configuration.
End-to-end round-trip latency for paid requests remained within acceptable bounds (<1 second added overhead).
Demonstrated stable settlement success with 100% payment verification accuracy in testing.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Boosty Labs consistently delivered milestones on time and in line with the agreed project schedule.
Both x402 prototypes — the xAI/X wrapper and the Cal.com wrapper — were completed within the expected development windows, with no material delays or last-minute timeline adjustments. Their pace matched the rapid, iterative nature of the engagement, and they were able to turn around new builds, fixes, and enhancements within 24–48 hours when needed.
What was your primary form of communication with Boosty Labs?

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
1. Their ability to quickly internalize a new, emerging standard is impressive
x402 is not yet a mainstream payment pattern, and its architecture has several non-obvious moving parts — quoting, payment-payload construction, mechanism abstraction, verification logic, and idempotent retries.
Boosty Labs absorbed all of this incredibly fast, with minimal documentation, and produced working facilitators that matched protocol semantics almost immediately. That level of ramp-up speed is rare.
2. They excel at turning ambiguity into working software
Both prototypes required stitching together upstream APIs (xAI/X and Cal.com) with a still-evolving payment protocol. Boosty handled the inevitable ambiguity without friction — proposing solutions, closing gaps, and consistently moving forward instead of getting blocked.
This made the project feel like working with an internal strike team rather than a typical external vendor.
