Please describe your company and your position there.

My name is Daniel and I am the CEO of a start-up that produces sports apparel that is made from recycled plastic waste. The company’s headquarter is in Munich, Germany.

For what projects/services did your company hire bold&brave?

We needed support in creating a new brand (naming and logo).

What were your goals for this project?

The goal was to find an agency that has a high degree of creativity, and the ability to come up with new ideas and to think out of the box.

How did you select bold&brave?

I found Marlon on https://clutch.co/ when I was looking for an agency to create my new brand. He is the CEO of bold&brave.

From the beginning I found, that there were many agencies out there, but I believe none came close to the portfolio of bold&brave. Marlon is Colombian and he studied Advertising in Medellín, but also lived in the UK for a year. He thus speaks English fluently. He has traveled the world so he got to know Europe, Australia and the US. For me that was a plus, because by that he knew the high demands of those countries when it comes to design and quality.

Furthermore, he knows how to research European trade marks in order to assure that neither a design nor a name could be in conflict with an existing brand. Considering the points before mentioned, I decided to work with bold&brave.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

At the beginning we made a video call to define the process. The brand name and the logo were to be treated separately from each other. First the name, then the logo.

My personal homework was to present some names and logos I liked. From that point on Marlon worked independently. We made a video call for the presentation of the brand name. After that, a month later, we made another video call for the presentation of the logo.

What was the team composition?

I was working directly with Marlon who is the CEO of bold&brave. Thus, there were no misunderstandings and solutions could be found very fast and time efficient.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Even though we did not launch the brand officially yet (because there is still much work to be done) I already got lots of positive feedbacks in relation to the new brand name and the logo. Marlon’s work is incredible and it is a success, because the new brand name is short, strong and meaningful. The logo is simple, meaningful, versatile, adaptable, and easily applicable and to great variety of products.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Everything worked out perfectly. I did not have to do any adjustments to bold&brave's work. I am very grateful for his work. It has been an excellent experience.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Marlon rather accidentally helped my brother-in-law to not incur in a big mistake which could have cost him lots of money. One day after a videocall I asked Marlon, what he thought about the new logo my brother-in-law got from another designer. When I showed him the image he directly said: “That logo already exists. I saw that somewhere.”. Within 3 minutes time he found the original owner of the logo who had already registered it as a trademark.

Besides being a humble and honest guy, he is incredibly creative. His mind works different than that of other graphical designers or professionals in advertising. He thinks out of the box and his solutions are not conventional. It is easy to find standard people, but it is difficult to find somebody like him.

Problems are solved very time efficient. Instead of writing hence and forth, he invited me to share his screen and by that we worked out solutions very fast. I liked that a lot.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There is only one minus point: he took a bit longer than projected (2 weeks). Reason for that was a bike accident. In case you start working with him, be sure Marlon does not ride a bike or buy him a helmet, then everything should work out fine. I owe him a lot and I hope, even when his customer base grows, that he will always find some time to help me with my projects as well.

I’m the founder of Sella in Bella Cycling Studio.

What challenge were you trying to address with bold&brave?

Most of our sales occur online, so we needed help with social media marketing. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

bold&brave create the graphical material that we post online. They produce story pieces, feed pieces, and banners for our website. They’ve also made a couple of videos that aren’t too long and animations. 

For each campaign, we create a task in Trello for what we want them to achieve. They go through the descriptions, list the product we want to promote, and decide how the campaigns should be promoted — the campaign formats are very similar to one another. 

We have a call and talk about what we want to achieve in the campaign, the purpose, objective, and if it’s going to be placed on Instagram, Facebook, or social ads. Then, they take it from there. We try to provide images and descriptions of the product but they come up with all the creative themselves.

What is the team composition?

I believe I work with the owner. 

How did you come to work with bold&brave?

I was referred to them by a friend. I also saw their work online and we spoke — I really liked everything that he did for other customers and I know most of the companies that he works with.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $3,000–$4,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in April 2020 and the work is ongoing. We have plans to work with them for a really long time.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We can tell people are really liking the pieces we’re sharing on social media. There’s an engagement component that we also try to measure — we usually have customers search through many stories whenever we publish something. We know that the people are engaging with our content.

How did bold&brave perform from a project management standpoint?

They share the content and pieces with us before they’re uploaded. We review the work and try to come up with ideas together. To manage the project, we use Trello and WhatsApp. He works from home like we do, and we communicate really well. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re really good — the content looks really nice. They work quickly, which is valuable for us, and they take ownership over their project. They don’t just come up with graphics and materials to launch; each of the campaigns is coherent and refreshing. He’s really good at what he does. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

If they could do more video training, it’d help us a lot. We’ve done a bit of it in the past, but it’s not the core of their work. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be organized. He’s organized and fast, but I discovered it’s important for me to be very clear on what I want to achieve.

I am the general manager at a music club based in Medellín.

The bold&brave team functions as the club’s communication studio.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The team manages all of our graphic communications for events, campaigns, merchandising, and other related activities. I know they use Adobe as their primary design software. 

What is the team composition?

I work directly with one person.

How did you come to work with bold&brave?

I met bold&brave’s manager by chance at a professional music-related conference. He told us about his studio, and at the time we needed help with our design and advertising efforts. We hired them, and from then on, our collaboration has grown.

How much have you invested in them?

We spend around $500 per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since around the middle of 2018.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They know our brand very well, and they really understand our niche. The team is great at effectively communicating our message through their designs, which is why we’ve stuck with them. We’ve worked with many studios before, and bold&brave is one of the only ones that understands the significance of communicating beyond just the actual visual design. 

How did bold&brave perform from a project management standpoint?

Our communication style is very natural and personal. We keep in touch over WhatsApp and email, and they’re always very agile and professional. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

In one of our most recent projects, they helped us launch a campaign related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was really well executed and had a great impact even beyond our niche. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They have already improved in everything that they had to. There were things that we’ve encountered along the way, but they’ve always taken care of everything. Now, our collaboration works perfectly.
