The measurable outcomes that demonstrated success for the project were the link deliverables, which Blue Tree managed to provide each month. There were also criteria in place for the quality of the domains that they acquired links for us from, and Blue Tree succeeded at obtaining backlinks for us from high-quality, reputable domains.

Blue Tree never failed to deliver us the 20 links each month. They were also very responsive and accommodating to our needs, especially for the requests we had to update our link targets or jump on a video call for a quick strategy discussion.

I particularly found impressive their ability to acquire link placements from high-level, editorial websites. They also were adept at acquiring backlinks for our target pages from relevant pieces of content and were able to often implement contextually relevant anchor texts as well.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Blue Tree could have done differently?

There were some instances of backlinks being acquired for us from domains that we already had many backlinks from. But, we worked with them for nearly three years so it's understandable that there were some repeat domains and these instances mostly occurred towards the tail-end of our partnership.

I suppose that there could also have been some added consultation regarding the target pages we requested at times, in terms of their linkability, but they did put good effort into acquiring backlinks for our niche-topic pages.

CloudDefense is a pretty unique product in the security space so we hired Blue Tree to help with organic growth and education of our leads. They have done a wonderful job with helping us redesign our website, improve our SEO posture, and appropriately interact with our top of the funnel leads.

We wanted to increase awareness of our solution and the problems facing the industry right now. Ideally, we wanted to do this without running ads as SEO is the go-to strategy we're looking to employ. Traffic to our website has increased a lot - hard to provide an accurate numerical measure here as we weren't measuring beforehand. Additionally, we were originally several pages deep when doing a google search, now we are on page 1.

Very effective. Blue Tree is great at project management, expectation management, and including the appropriate parties where needed. We communicated mostly through WhatsApp and email. They react well to feedback and solve problems effectively.

I found it very impressive how quickly they were able to respond, act on feedback, and provide actionable insight to help solve our toughest problems.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Everything was pretty seamless. The only area I could see some improvement is being more available for calls as opposed to asynchronous communication, but this isn't a bad thing - just a style preference.

To date, the nearly all of our new business is generated via referral or Word of Mouth. We wanted to build a comprehensive content marketing and digital PR campaign that would help us get new customers via inbound marketing. The Blue Tree team was responsible for creating and executing the plan from start to finish.

We knew that digital PR is the de facto method for building SEO backlinks today, and looked high and low to find an agency that had a proven track record and was within our budget. Ultimately, we found them through a simple Google search.

Blue Tree created a keyword and content strategy, mixing both SEO-centric content topics at the bottom, middle, and top of the funnel, as well as digital PR content ideas for the purpose of generating press and media mentions on industry publications in the EU and UK.

For the digital PR content, their team conducted surveys and queried public data sets to generate data-informed journalism stories. Following the launch of the campaign and publishing of the aforementioned content, they leveraged their network of authors and editorial relationships at a long list of industry publications in order to get press and eyeballs to our website.

Throughout the course of the engagement, we corresponded with about 4 or 5 people in total, though only 1 or 2 were the main points of contact. These included both the founders, Dan and Sia, as well as the account manager working on our campaigns.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The results delivered by Dan and his team surprised our wildest expectations. We’ve been sold and burned by many SEO agencies in the past, and nowadays anyone who actually promises results demands that we wait at least a year to see them.

We began to see improvements in our search rankings for important keywords around the end of the third month of working with Blue Tree.

We were a bit concerned about working with a fully remote digital PR agency but given the state of the world, we didn’t have much choice.

Ultimately we were quite surprised at their level of professionalism and communication, and at least one team member was available at any point in the day.

Their reports were clean and concise and showed a the ROI of our investment on a biweekly basis, and the founders were responsive to any questions that came up over email or phone.

The most impressive part about working with Blue Tree was the quality of press they generated for us relative to the cost. We got a decent idea of the cost of various sites and retainers during our search for a partner, and their deliverables were significantly higher quality than what we’d found elsewhere, and cheaper.

What would’ve been nice would be some sort of structured, free consultation on the part of the founders or account manager. It’s clear that they have developed a unique approach to digital PR, but it’s not something we could or would want to pay for forever, and would like to be able to recreate their systems in house.
