BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder and president of Oranje. We’re a digital agency that focuses on B2B video production.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Blanchette Vachon CPA?

We’re required to do our annual review with a certified public account (CPA). BVA has been with us since the beginning, and they’re doing a pretty good job.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We do some accounting in-house, but at the end of the year, we have to produce a report for tax preparation and it needs to be signed by a CPA. BVA reviews our numbers and signs the report, and then we send it to the government for tax purposes. We first had some issues at the beginning with our budget, which they helped us out with. Since then, they’ve only handled our tax needs.

What is the team composition?

We communicate with just one person on a monthly basis.

How did you come to work with Blanchette Vachon CPA?

It’s a local firm. I’ve known BVA since we’ve been in business, and they’re recognized for their service. One day, I called them up and arranged a meeting. After that, they just took over our accounting, and from now on, we do business with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together mid-year in 2015, and the partnership is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

BVA worked out a budget for us; we followed and have had some success. We’ve noticed some time savings as well. We never have to redo what they do; they do the work perfectly the first time.

How did Blanchette Vachon CPA perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve done very well. We communicate in-person, over the phone, and by email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciate our relationship with BVA the most. They helped us restructure our budget after we had some financial problems. At the end of the year, they didn’t even send us an invoice for their work, and we appreciated that a lot. We’ll definitely continue working with them because of that gesture.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they’ve done a very good job.
