I’m the CEO and co-founder of a fintech platform that helps expatriates and retail investors track and manage their assets worldwide.

Binariks provides us with backend development services. They provide a full-time developer who works with our CTO to build our product’s backend using Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, and AWS. They also provide light-touch project management to ensure the project is on track.

We work with one full-time backend developer, a daily project manager, and a senior manager from Binariks.

I found them through Google and Clutch — I always verify my research on Clutch. Additionally, I looked at other platforms like LinkedIn and Google reviews. We researched different types of businesses, and we liked Binariks the best. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around £25,000 (approximately $30,000 USD). 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We measure Binariks’ success based on the timely completion of tasks and the reduction of redos. For example, we look at how many times we have to retouch a bug fix in order to deploy the fix. 

How did Binariksperform from a project management standpoint?

They’re really good at communicating and meeting our deadlines. The developer and daily project manager are present for our daily stand-up meetings, and the team is also available in the afternoon in case we need to discuss anything. Meanwhile, I escalate issues to the senior manager if necessary, and I speak with him and the daily project manager monthly to ensure everything is going well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Binariks’ clear communication is the best — they’re consistent with it and with deliverables. They log their hours accurately, and if there’s an issue, they respond in a timely manner. The team also sends meeting minutes after every management call, and their invoices come like clockwork. Moreover, they immediately respond to any issues. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could speed up the onboarding process; it took a long time for the developer to get familiarized with our product’s backend and source code. Additionally, their pricing could be a bit more flexible. As a startup, we want to keep cash flow, and Binariks’ retainer is very rigid. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

With any client or vendor you work with, I advise setting expectations early on and being as clear as possible about what you expect them to do and what you’ll do. Clarifying the roles and responsibilities is critical in any project. Binariks need to know exactly what they’re hired to do in the scope of work. 

You should also be aware that Binariks is based in Ukraine. Because of the Russian Invasion, there are situations where they can’t attend a call or lose electricity for part of the day. On a human level, that’s something to be conscious of — it’s why we’ve been flexible and understanding of their circumstances.

It’s always challenging to find great engineering talent. We had a core team, but when we signed a large B2B client, we needed a team that could get involved quickly.

Binariks provides engineering and DevOps services. They work remotely on business requirements, QA, and coding. Initially, we set up tight timelines to use our core system code; we needed to build off a branch for that software.

Our clients are happy with their work. Moreover, we became fully operational in just a few weeks, which is almost unheard of.

They’ve performed exceptionally well. We have them in our Slack channel. Additionally, we use standard tracking tools for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have quality talent, and the team is very respectful. Binariks challenges our thinking, so they’re more than an outsourced service that does what we tell them. Moreover, we highly value their customer-first approach. If we have something going on, they’re easily available.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there’s nothing I can think of; they’re a top-notch company.

We are a market research company focused on the creation and development of innovative measurement systems for Out-of-Home advertising.

Binariks team has been hired to set up the project, take ownership of the developed functionality, and push the project to the release phase in cooperation with third-party providers specializing in machine learning and satellite images.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Comprehensive research of companies was done. We began to work from the outstaff project. Later Binariks was selected as the outsource partner to complete the product based on their technical expertise, reviews, and communication skills after a few months of mutual work.

METRICOOH is a set of tools that compare the physical attributes of outdoor advertising media (Billboards, urban furniture,...). The use of satellite photography allows for analyzing traffic flows without violating regulations on protecting personal data and limiting the limitations of mobile analytics. The toolkit allows you to calculate the inventory that best meets the needs of advertisers in a particular location. Key technologies are Machine learning for vehicle identification, Big data management, traffic modeling, it also implies a intense use of Geographical System, mapping, visibility analysis.

There is a team of 8 people: 4 Back-end developers, 1 Front end developer, 1 Tech lead, 1 Business analyst, 1 Project manager

It is intense. They really take care, daily and from all points of view. I feel protected. They care of the project and also about the people.

The attitude towards work is something Binariks takes pride in. It’s a combination of a high-skilled team and quite mature management that makes this company stand out. They have a high level of responsibility and technical skills.

Binariks provided all of my development and deployment needs. They also tweaked the existing code and the solutions I had already developed — their team helps us streamline and refactor the code for proper deployment.

Regarding technologies, they used .NET, Java, and SQL with many other libraries.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The tool and the algorithm were pretty complex in terms of technologies, and they could document and advance it — I was happy with them altogether.

How did Binariks perform from a project management standpoint?

They were easy to communicate with and delivered assignments ahead of time. They were also good at adapting to the change in tasks and scope throughout the project.

In addition, their team worked within our fixed budget and was very accommodating in adding resources when they felt the project needed it at no cost to me.

Regarding tools, we used online chat and phone calls — they were available within a minute's notice.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were excellent, and I enjoyed working with them. They were also extremely diligent and very comfortable with complex tasks.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't think there's anything they can improve on.

Getting the right specifications for your tool is key.

We wanted Binarix to help us develop the project from scratch. Also help with design, gathering of requirements and build project architecture.

Comprehensive research of companies was done and Binariks was selected based on their technical expertise, reviews, and communication skills after a set of interviews with members of the team.

Business goals Sign up several early partners to use the platform and provide the feedback. Speed up the work with documents for 10x times. Provide the ability to use these tools to 3-4 users in MVP time. Check the Accuracy of the AI, and collect reviews of work with this system. Product The System provides the possibility to place a bookmark on the document. It will help the user to quickly navigate and find the information looking for.

Facilitate and speed up the workflow documents and preparing of reports in various fields of activity. Provides the ability to track and save the progress of work. The AI system will make suggestions with accuracy scores for bookmarks to speed up the process. Comfortable workspace, where user can process PDF documents for future reports. Providing information to the user that can make the work more convenient. Such as displaying the status of the page, the possibility to move to the page without a bookmark, and many other useful tools.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Basically, Binariks helps us in writing a project, creating a design, collecting requirements, and creating a project architecture, at each stage of the project.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

At the beginning of the cooperation, we had a phase of collecting requirements and a design phase in which we had stand-up meets and workshops to gather all the necessary information. At the developing phase, we has daily standup meetings between our СTO and Binariks, sprint planning meetings, and other meetings to provide feedback. We use the JIRA board to manage tickets. Binaries also provide us with weekly status reports detailing the work performed. Also, we had monthly calls with Binariks’s management to share the feedback about cooperation.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We are really impressed with the high-skilled developers, they always try to improve the product and provide us with great solutions. Binariks really cared about our product and always tries to give valuable advice. for example, if necessary, we can involve highly qualified specialists to provide advice.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Can't think of a whole lot. They did a great job.

I’m the founder and CEO of a cloud solution company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Binariks?

We needed help with custom software development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The solution is a cloud-based web app. Binariks developed this custom software using PHP for the backend and React for the frontend. I had developed something before in Vue.js, but they rebuilt it from scratch.

There were some points we asked them to provide some guidance on how to set up, and they proceeded with the development and some parts of the design. 

How did you come to work with Binariks?

I looked at several options in different countries. Based on the reviews and the people we interviewed, Binariks seemed to be the most appropriate option.

How much have you invested with them?

We've spent around $100,000–$150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We've been working together since July 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I don’t have any metrics to share yet, but Binariks' team was able to find a solution for us. If I tell them my budget is going to change, then they offer a solution that’s appropriate. They’ve been doing very well from a technical point of view as well.

Everything is good for the moment. We haven’t experienced any more bugs than you would expect from a normal software development. 

How did Binariks perform from a project management standpoint?

I’m very happy with the communication. We have daily meetings with them for about 30 minutes, as well as monthly calls for a debriefing and review of what has been done. There are weekly comments as well.

Binarik's team delivers when they say they will, and there haven't been financial surprises. We use Jira, Slack, and Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They want to build something that’s a long-term solution, which we appreciate.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I felt the design side has been a little bit slow.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you’re not technical, then get someone technical who can speak that language with them. You need someone on your side who knows your industry well.

I’m the CEO of a media group, as well as a co-founder.

What challenge were you trying to address with Binariks?

It’s their job to do our app development. We weren’t satisfied with our previous app. They were to make another app with the same functions and some extra functions with the base of the old app; it should be newer and programmed with a newer assignment.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

It was an iOS app. We gave them the old app, so they had quite a good picture of what to deliver. We wanted them to build the same app with the same functionality and some extra features. They created a new, updated interface and functionality and are now doing maintenance.

What is the team composition?

We’re working with two full-time developers, one project leader, one QA resource, and then a director above the project leader.

How did you come to work with Binariks?

A friend of mine had used them and recommended them as good to work with.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $200,000 with them so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since January 2021. Currently, we’re working on an hourly basis when we give with them jobs, mostly fixing bugs or making small adjustments and add-ons.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We got an estimate of time and money, but it went longer than we expected. It was also more expensive than we expected. The code we got was good and the work was good, but the time and money got a bit carried away.

The work seems to be good quality. We had an in-house senior programmer check the code and, they said it’s good.

How did Binariks perform from a project management standpoint?

The project manager did very well. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re good to work with. We don’t produce this kind of app often so it’s difficult to evaluate but we’ve tried some other companies, and no one has been better than Binariks. There’s a reason we changed vendors.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Estimates should be a little more exact when you have such a clear picture of what the result should be.

They could maybe have been faster in the work. I’m not sure exactly why it took longer than expected. There are always changes with a scope like this, but none of those changes were big enough to shift the timeframe from June to December.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Keep track of the time and the money.

We focus on creating solutions for non-powered mobile vehicles and their related systems.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Binariks?

We were looking to add capability and function to our web portals that our customers’ end-users use.  

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We provided documentation at the start and gave the access to our source code repository. They also viewed our mockups and screenshots, and we asked for any recommendations they had based on our work. They delivered new user stories and built out different business categories based on this information.

Moving forward, they did custom Angular, JavaScript, and back-end development work to build onto our architecture. They’re extending our capabilities to deliver different types of reports and views for end users.

What is the team composition?

We are engaged with a delivery lead, business analyst, 1–2 front-end developers, two back-end developers, one QA resource, and one architect.

How did you come to work with Binariks?

Through Clutch. They weren’t too big or too small, and their cost was better than that of firms in the US or Canada. Also spoke to referrals before we signed the contract.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since May 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The custom report creation tool has launched, and users are very happy with it. They say it’s highly intuitive. Discovery took longer than we hoped for this project but, in the end, the product came out better than we could have expected thanks to this extra time invested in this stage. It allowed us to hit the ground running with a better plan.

We’re currently fixing a few bugs and working on additional features that we thought of during creation.

How did Binariks perform from a project management standpoint?

I interact with their team once a week, but my developers have daily status calls with them. We started with a twice weekly meeting but then switched it to daily scrum meetings to ensure we don’t miss anything over email and Slack.

Both teams are very quick to respond over Slack, with answers coming within minutes of questions posed. Azure DevOps helps with task tracking, and we use Google Meet for phone calls.

They’ve adjusted well to our east coast hours as well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their team members are very knowledgeable, and are quick to pick up on our use-cases about how something should work. They ask the right probing questions, whereas other groups have been afraid to say that they don’t understand something. Communication has been very open and honest.

Are there any areas they could improve?

After several weeks, we had to make a change in the process for the aspects of communication and project management, and I feel like we lost some time in them there.  It would have been better to talk through this earlier, with their suggestions initially. The process moved more smoothly once we put our system in place. We all ended up in the right spot in the end.

We were interested in developing a prototype of a software application for a new focus area for our company. However, since we needed to get from concept stage to MVP fairly quickly, we decided to use an outside firm instead of having to reallocate internal resources.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We interviewed several potential companies for technical ability, cost, and availability of developers, and decided to go with Binariks as the optimal solution.

We provided some initial draft wireframes. Binariks took that concept, refined the UI and flow, and created user stories and software specs. From there, a team of developers created a functional prototype.

There were ~5 people on the core team, including a project manager, front end and back end coder, and UI specialist.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Binariks had extremely open communication about all aspects of the project. We had regular check-in meetings, demos, and frequent communication over Slack. They delivered on-time and were able to accommodate additional changes above what was originally scoped out.

We communicated through Slack, Jira, and Google Hangouts. They were extremely responsive and organized throughout the process.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We had an exceptional business analyst who really dove into getting up to speed in a highly technical area so he could appropriately direct the engineers during their work.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Everything has been great, we would definitely work with them again.
