Introduce your business and what you do there.

I used to be the VP of marketing for Artifact Technologies, which develops immersive mobile app experiences with the museum and attraction industry in mind.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with BigHouse Production?

We were helping the Pacific Science Center launch the largest exhibition they’d ever held. To help them meet their ambitious financial goals, we created a mobile game app with premier, high-quality visuals to market the event.

We asked BigHouse Production to create a sizzle video — basically, a stylized promo reel — that would get the public excited about the game.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

BigHouse Production delivers full-service video production, where they handle everything from scripting to shooting and editing.

We first came to them with the idea of creating a captivating video, which they took to map out a storyboard and created a compelling script. The team lead then flew down to San Antonio with me, where he vetted and hired a local crew.

They proceeded to direct and produce that marketing video. After the shoot, they provided the videos on all of the necessary formats, adding subtitles and captions for certain versions.

What is the team composition?

George (President, BigHouse Production) has always been my main point of contact. He always pulls together the best team to execute the task at hand.  

How did you come to work with BigHouse Production?

They were recommended to us by our media buyer, who knew that we needed high-impact video.

How much have you invested with them?

Each project has cost somewhere between $10,000–$25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The first time I ever worked with George was in 2012. For the Pacific Science Center, the project started in September 2015. We have an ongoing partnership.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Since George’s work has always been part of a larger marketing campaign, it’s difficult to pinpoint metrics. I will say that the work that he did for the Pacific Science Center, in the event of their 50th anniversary, received more positive feedback than we’d ever gotten. His video projects have garnered more acclaim than the work of anyone I’ve ever worked with.

I would recommend BigHouse Production, hands-down and without hesitation.

How did BigHouse Production perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management could not have been better. George is extremely organized, very responsive, and ensures excellent customer service. He excels at keeping projects on track without micromanaging. He communicates well to make sure that we’re exactly where we should be.

What did you find most impressive about them?

George genuinely cares a great deal about his work. He takes tremendous pride in his output so he brings 100% to every project. He also values the relationships he builds with his clients. The decades of experience that he’s accumulated really shines through in his drive to exceed expectations.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Honestly, I can’t think of anything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It’s important to have a sense of what you want your outcome to be, as much as possible. Understand your goals, and try to be able to articulate what your idea of success looks like.

What challenge were you trying to address with BigHouse Production?

We hired them to produce a number of corporate videos and TV spots over the years.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’re doing some image work for a professional association in Washington state, which is an annual campaign and involves continual video profiles of its members. These are large, state-wide campaigns that involve major media buys across Washington state.

We sometimes worked together on the messaging for the videos, focusing on our strategic goals. They offered some different points of view and ways to enhance our objectives. They also take care of the video editing, showing me first drafts to review and discuss, and then work through together.

What is the team composition?

I work with George (President & Producer/Director, BigHouse Production).

How did you come to work with BigHouse Production?

I was referred by our media buyer over 12 years ago. The scope of the project required a larger crew than I was getting from a different company, and BigHouse Production was able to provide it.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in 2015 and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve received broad support for the campaign from among the membership. The video profiles have been shown at the association’s annual meetings and have received wide accolades for their quality and creative content. They’re also shown online, on traditional television, and through digital placements.

How did BigHouse Production perform from a project management standpoint?

We have a really good working relationship. I can always count on George to be 100% there on our projects and to cover every level of detail in a most excellent way. He always has the appropriate staff, so I’ve never had any issues at all.

I appreciate how they’re not just tactically aligned with me, but strategically aligned and knowledgeable about the objectives too. They match their assets to support that messaging that we’re trying to achieve.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re consistent, professional, and deliver exceptional quality. They’re absolutely great to work with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes our clients aren’t as acclimated to the level of production costs required and we have to help them get over that hurdle. It’s not a fault of BigHouse Production, but a client perception issue. Once they saw the quality of the work, that issue went away quickly. They understood what it takes to produce the quality of video that they want.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be absolutely clear with your strategic objectives. George understands quickly and will align the production of his crew and his strategies to your goals.
