Big Red Jelly

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of a virtual home showcase event company. We do showcase events where people can go online and tour homes virtually. They can view them with photos, videos, or 3D tours.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?

We went with Big Red Jelly to create a website to host our events there.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we designed the basic framework of the site and did the wireframes, and Big Red Jelly took it from there. They’ve developed the website on WordPress.

They’re currently hosting the site for us and doing backups in case something goes wrong. They’re not maintaining the site, but we’ll have them do that once we get closer to the event.

What is the team composition?

We specifically work with 3–4 people.

How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?

We met somebody from Big Red Jelly in a business networking group. Price and timeframe were big deciding factors. We quoted the project with a few other places, and they charged much more. In one case, they quoted about 10 times as much and told us it’d take 6–7 months. Big Red Jelly could do it in one month, so it was a clear choice.

How much have you invested with them?

Thanks to our friend, we have an excellent deal; we’ve spent about $2,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We got the ball rolling in December 2021, and they started working on the project about a month later.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We don’t have statistics yet because we’re working towards an event, and it won’t happen until the end of the year. However, Big Red Jelly took what my wife and I designed and made it even better. Everyone that has seen the mockup version has commented on how beautiful and marvelous it is. Overall, we’re pretty pleased with how they’ve handled the project.

How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re awesome. The team does a great job at keeping up with the deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their ability to work with customers is outstanding. Sometimes we can come off a bit strong, but they’re really patient and kind with us. They do everything they can to make us happy, and the team goes above and beyond our expectations. Overall, Big Red Jelly helps the client get exactly what they want.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Communication is slightly rocky, but it isn’t bad. We have weekly meetings to discuss how the website’s doing. During those meetings, we mention if we need to fix something. However, we’ve noticed that sometimes we come back a week or two later, and the problem is still sitting how we left it. I don’t know if they’re not taking notes, but if we send it to them in an email, then we’re fine.

In that sense, they could pay a bit more attention to what’s going on in our meetings and ensure that everything we say in there is taken care of.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It depends on your website needs, but I’d say go for it in most cases. They’re great to work with.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Gourmet Dumplings, a food service company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?

We needed website development and logo design services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Big Red Jelly started out with the logo design. They made several revisions and worked with us so it’d be a smooth process. They helped with naming, color scheme, digital branding, and identity. That process gave us the confidence to move into website design and development. The team used WordPress and worked along with my CMO.

They still help us with hosting and edits.

What is the team composition?

Connor (Director of Strategy & Support) oversaw the project. He’s highly professional and flexible with our visions and edits.

How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?

They were referred to me.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $6,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2021, and our relationship is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven’t had any feedback yet because we’re just launching. However, they exceeded our expectations. Big Red Jelly did a great job on the logo and was very flexible with our revisions and edits. We highly recommend them.

How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is excellent. Connor is a highly-valued team member; he can explain, educate, and train other people — he’s training my CMO on how to make edits. Also, he’s well versed in website development and engagement and great with follow-through.

We use Ninety.io and communicate via email, Zoom, Google Meet, phone calls, text massages, Slack, and Skype.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They stand out for their flexibility and ability to pivot. Moreover, their response time is excellent; there aren’t delays in their responses. In general, they have good communication follow-up and professionalism.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t point to anything that I’d have them improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Work with Connor; he’s very involved and responsive. Overall, he’s great to work with.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of a music consulting business.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?

I wanted to redo my website because our previous developers did an awful job.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Big Red Jelly has been helping us redesign our website. They took over the existing platform and added new features. They also ensured to put my services in the front so it calls for action for visitors can reach out to us.

What is the team composition?

We’ve been working with Ashton (Growth Strategist), Naomi (Graphic Designer), and someone else focused on SEO tasks.

How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?

A friend referred them to me.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve spent less than $1,000 with them so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The site is not live yet, but I like the work they’ve done for me so far. Our platform now looks much fresher, modern, and more appealing.

How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team has been good with communications, but they’ve been taking a little more time to deliver the project than they said they would, but I’m ok with that.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication and professionalism are outstanding. They go out of their way to provide a good service, and if I don’t like something, I tell them what I need, and they deliver it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on — they’ve been great, and I’ve been referring them to a lot of people.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CIO of High Country Global Solutions, a project management company located in Wellsville, Utah. We focus on contract project management.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?

We already had a website, but we wanted to redesign it and rename our company at the same time. Being a small organization, we didn’t have the resources in-house to accomplish our goal, so we reached out to Big Red Jelly for help.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Big Red Jelly helped us rename our company from High Country Manufacturing to High Country Global Solutions. Then, they helped us redevelop and redesign our website to give it a new look and feel, creating a new navigation experience and adding features that it didn’t have before.

We requested Big Red Jelly some specific things for the website and provided them with the content and the messaging that we wanted to convey. However, they brought their own ideas to the table as well, and they were in charge of designing the layout and mapping of the site to convey the messaging we wanted to in the best way possible.

The main feature we requested was that, within a few seconds of landing on our page, a company looking for our services could understand what we had to offer. Conveying this message took some time to develop, but we ultimately landed where we wanted to be.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with four people from Big Red Jelly, from whom the project manager is my main point of contact.

How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?

Big Red Jelly was recommended to us.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $4,500.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in December 2021, and they delivered the site in February 2022. We now have two weeks ahead of us where Big Red Jelly will walk us through maintaining the site. We will try to do most of the maintenance ourselves, but we’re going to keep our contract open in case we need to make more difficult changes.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The site’s launch is very recent, so we don’t have any statistics, results, or customer feedback yet. However, we’re very satisfied with Big Red Jelly’s work. Now, we’re in the process of handing business cards with our new address and name, trying to get new customer contacts.

How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?

Big Red Jelly has done a great job regarding project management; they’ve exceeded our expectations. During development, we were on budget and stayed on time, and although we experienced some delays, those were attributable to our team. We communicate via email, phone calls, and video conferences.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Big Red Jelly does a great job of handing off their expertise. Each of their team members has their own strengths and weaknesses, but Big Red Jelly is very capable of bringing the right person to the table for each part of the project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be great if Big Red Jelly were more attentive to small changes needed. For example, whenever we found small errors in the wording, we would bring them up and talk about them, but the following week we had to remind them again to fix the issue. This isn’t a serious problem, but it would definitely benefit them to set reminders to make the agreed-upon changes.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have a clear vision of how you want your site to look so that you can share it with them and don’t lose any time during the initial part of the engagement. The more information you have before launching a project like this, the better.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

Metafraze is a language service provider (LSP). We believe language brings people together. I am the owner and a linguist. Metafraze is a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Big Red Jelly?

We recently rebranded and the previous website was clunky and temporary. We may have the skills to redesign our website, but we are a small shop. We decided to have Big Red Jelly do the new design for us. We were hoping to increase traffic and generate solid leads.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Big Red Jelly has a solid standardized process for capturing our needs and implementing them into the new site. Furthermore, their rates are very reasonable. And finally, the site turned out great.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

We first had a kick-off meeting where Big Red Jelly reviewed our previous site, interviewed us to find out our specific needs for the new site, and then they got to work. We had three or four review meetings where we could look at the new design and make suggestions about changes we'd like to see.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with an account executive and the web designer.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The site turned out great! It has all the functionality we need, including calls to action throughout the site, great-looking forms, clean design, and easy to read.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The web designer was easy to communicate with and provided us with frequent updates. We had three or four review meetings via Zoom and they were able to capture our requirements for the site. Everything was delivered on time.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their processes! They make it easy to capture our needs and requirements and they were able to implement them into the new design.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the founder and sole employee of a wellness coaching company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Big Red Jelly, and what were your goals?

My goal was to create a website from scratch. Big Red Jelly helped me design the website and trained me to use it. They also helped me with brand design.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Straight forward pricing, clear work plan, easy communication

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Pretty straight forward - I provided content and high level design and BRJ created the site. We communicated on live calls (Zoom) and videos of instructions etc from the team

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

• Long, project manager
• Zach, Project Oversight
• Naomi, Brand design

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

My webpage was designed and up and running in 2 months!

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Well organized with fast turn around time. We used Google drive to share documents and that went well. Timelines were met. Very open to discussion on ideas. Found that the brand and web designers were not in complete communication, but with prompting they aligned

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The follow up at the end of the process was most impressive. The project manager dropped the ball on some final changes and after the site went live Zach went above and beyond to get it right.

I've worked with other companies and they did not push the time line with me and things never got done or afterwards left me with a site I couldn't do anything with. The hand-in-hand work and clear path forward were very different from other agencies.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The project manager didn't always get to the changes I asked for - seemed like he had missed a couple emails. However, everything was ok in the end.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am an interior designer.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?

I hired Big Red Jelly to develop a blog to showcase my design work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Big Red Jelly was meant to develop a blog for me, which required them to create a website as well. I provided the blog content and visuals for them to post in DropBox, ensuring I specified which photos I wanted for each blog. The images were from photoshoots I scheduled at rented celebrity homes. I also requested that they add relevant backlinks to the content that I provided.

What is the team composition?

I worked with Harrison (Build and Support Strategist), Josh (Co-Owner),

How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?

I Googled firms in Utah and found Big Red Jelly. I initially spoke to the owner of the company, but then began working with Josh. One of the reasons I hired them was because of their location; I’d hoped to meet them in person.

How much have you invested with them?

The original downpayment was $1,200–$1,500. As the project progressed, I paid another $6,400 to fix the issues.

What is the status of this engagement?

My engagement with Big Red Jelly was from October–February 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

I was initially impressed with how quickly they could get the website to go live, but the blog content I provided was never uploaded cohesively, and some material was incorrectly contributed to me. Two photoshoots that I’d done for the holidays weren’t usable because they worked too slowly to get the blogs up. At that time, I’d even begun a discussion with them to expand the scope of work to include site and blog maintenance.

When I requested their team fix my issues, I was passed on to another teammate. I paid more money to fix the problems, but they only got worse. I never expected a simple blog template development to be this complex, so I’m ending the engagement.

How did Big Red Jelly address the challenges that arose?

I felt that Big Red Jelly was essentially giving me the run-around when it came to fixing the issues I had — I was passed around from teammate to teammate. I provided them with page-by-page instructions of what I wanted the blogs to look like, but instead, they decided to rebuild the site.

So, instead of fixing what I requested, they rebuilt the site while it was still live, essentially deleting everything that was already developed. What frustrated me the most was that there was no apology for messing up the site in the first place. I wish they’d told me that their forte wasn’t blog development.

Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

The website had to be taken down, so I have nothing to promote my business. I’ve also completely paid out to Big Red Jelly, so now I have to put in a reimbursement request with the owner.

How was project management handled?

Communication with Big Red Jelly was disjoined — I could only schedule calls with them via their website’s calendar tool, even when trying to schedule follow-up calls during a meeting. I’ve never had communication issues like this with other firms I’ve worked with. Also, the teammate I worked with was new to the company and wasn’t adequately trained or managed by Big Red Jelly.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

Big Red Jelly’s sales team is excellent.

In what specific areas can they improve?

Big Red Jelly didn’t understand what I wanted from the project, and they were tough to contact. Also, I think their payment plans should be monthly because the multiple-month plans aren’t useful at the start of a partnership.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?

I would only recommend hiring Big Red Jelly if customers have a simple business that needs a simple website.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a CPA and I run a CPA coaching and teaching service.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?

We were looking for someone to build my website to promote my brand.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Big Red Jelly was instrumental in helping me develop and design a WordPress website that can attract my core audience. I put the content together by utilizing their copywriting service just to bring in a fresh language and perspective to my service offerings.

Furthermore, they did a bit of background research to make sure my website is geared towards my individual brand. They then delivered an industry-specific template for my particular profile.

My entire collection of courses was already uploaded in Thinkific so as part of their services, they integrated that into the website they developed to serve as the primary vehicle to drive visitors to the courses.

What is the team composition?

I mainly worked with Jeremy (Project Lead), Sara (Integrations Manager), and Lyndsie (Brand Director).

How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?

I was introduced to Big Red Jelly through a group I was working with to develop my brand. I decided to work with them because I felt that their work was the right fit for what I was trying to accomplish with my website.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested somewhere around $3,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from September–November 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’m still working through the marketing and sales, but I’m very satisfied that the website is successfully up and running. The people who’ve seen it thought it was professionally done and that the messaging was on point.

How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management was top-notch and they were very approachable. Their knowledge and skills were also high quality, as they were able to provide a pleasant experience all the way through.

We relied on Google Docs to relay information to them and we typically communicated through email and phone.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t have any qualms over the whole process as I thought they did a very good job.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Being clear with what you want your vision to be will set the tone for the entire engagement, and I would also recommend maintaining a level of flexibility as the project evolves.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

We are a renewable energy consulting firm and I am the CEO and co-founder with my son.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Big Red Jelly, and what were your goals?

Our old website did not portray our business in the correct way. Our new site illustrates much better our new direction and focus. We want the public to know there is a more efficient, safe and cost-effective way to use renewable energy.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

It was a referral from our SEO company. Creativity, professionalism and there understanding our needs and desire to do all that was necessary to make our relationship with them work.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We had a brainstorming session so we could understand their capabilities and they could further understand our needs, goals and objectives. They then communicated via Zoom calls each week to show us what they were creating and listened to our corrections, direction and desires. We always felt in control of the project and that they were listening.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Two people worked with us and it worked beautifully. Great teamwork. Content creators and design professionals.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Too early to tell other than it is a great website and properly illustrates who we are and what we can do for the public.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Weekly Zoom calls, updates during the week through email which showed us their progress. very hands-on.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their creativity, teamwork, and willingness to understand our needs were impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing substantial. When we felt things were bogging down on our message, they brought in another team member who gave their work exactly what we needed. They have great bench strength.

weekly meetings were great and always something I was looking forward to.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their follow-through is fantastic.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Paying attention to the details and quality. Some things seemed rushed (photos not sized
properly, branding copy seemed rushed and not thought out, etc.), like they were done just
before our meeting.
