Big Red Jelly developed our website from scratch using WordPress. Its homepage has an overview of all the activities we offer, with a separate page that goes into more detail about each activity. There’s a page that shows who we are as a company and another one that features profiles for all of our guides.
They worked on implementing the design, but our team was the one who actually thought up the look of the site — a few months into the project, we noticed the design wasn’t getting that much focus so our team sat down and made sketches of exactly how we wanted the site to look. We sent them the sketches and they applied our ideas to the site.

How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?
Their team seemed very professional, and collaboration was really easy with them — they were open to feedback and remained friendly and accommodating throughout. However, the individual teammates who were building our site seemed to have a lot going on, and we felt we got pushed to the back burner at times. The team could have done better by following through with their promises, but overall, the experience was good.
We had a video call every other week where the team reported on their progress working on the site. Otherwise, we communicated with them via email, and then we found that it was more effective to correspond with them via phone, so we requested to have occasional phone calls.
There were some challenges with communication, but some of it was due to our internal team’s devices — we have bad cell phone reception and internet connectivity issues, which was our fault.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I was impressed by how well they worked together as a team. They seemed like a really awesome company.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They should fulfill the expectations they set at the beginning. They could have been clearer about what services were included in the engagement to avoid not following through on any promises. We expected them to take on a leadership role during the process, but sometimes we ended up taking the lead.
However, this might not be the full picture; I'm just one representative of our organization, and my teammates might have had different experiences.

Ask lots of questions and make sure to ask them what services they will actually provide. Besides that, they're an awesome team to work with.

Big Red Jelly first outlined their offerings and processes, and after that, they asked what our vision for the website looked like. We provided them with our ideas for the site and what we wanted to do and change. They came back to us with a shell of what we discussed.
From that point on, we provided content while they implemented updates based on our weekly conversations. It took about 4–5 weeks for them to finish, during which they were mostly waiting for content from us. We spent a week going through the site, and we made sure everything was exactly how we wanted. After they received our approval, they launched the WordPress website.

We used Zoom for our weekly meetings. For general communication and sending content, we used email.
Big Red Jelly was very responsive and quick to get back to us. They were great and easy to work with.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their customer service skills impressed us. When we first got in contact, they were very responsive. They told us that they could build our website however we wanted; we just had to let them know what we had in mind, and they’d make it happen. Other companies showcase their platforms but can’t get started for six months. Big Red Jelly listened to what we wanted — for us, that was the biggest thing.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I have no complaints after working with Big Red Jelly. I was very happy with the whole process, and that’s why I agreed to this survey. They did a great job.

Just listen to what they have to say because they have good ideas. Make sure you have a vision, and they will make that come to life. However, if you don’t have an idea before engaging with them, Big Red Jelly will help you with that as well.

In our case, we have a copywriter that creates the key messaging for a particular client. Then, we work with Big Red Jelly to put that website together for a client.

I started working with a click funnel software and quickly realized that I needed a website built, mostly to improve credibility among my third-party clients. Initially, when external stakeholders clicked the link for my business, it would just take them to the click funnel’s homepage, so I don’t want it to damage my business' credibility. As a result, I got a hold of Big Red Jelly and hired them to create my store and website.

What was the scope of their involvement?
I laid out what I wanted Big Red Jelly to do with my yoga business. I didn’t have much for them to work on. Along the way, we researched a few other pages connected with yoga. Then, I gave them the products I was going to push to my store, their images, and corresponding descriptions. From there, we talked about how I wanted the store to look and how my customers would interact on the platform.
After finishing our website, we came back to them again to clean a few things up in the store and make it more user-friendly.

The store was up and running within seven days. I’ve gotten a few comments on social media that people liked the way my website looks.
I haven’t made any sales on the store yet, but we get many visitors to the website. For the sales, I think it’s not Big Red Jelly’s issue — it’s more of a monetary issue right now because of the pandemic.
How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?
They have a fantastic project management process. They’ve been great and timely with everything that they do. We are constantly in touch with each other and there have been no instances where I'm left wondering what's going on. We mainly communicate through email and Zoom.
Whenever I reach out to them about editing a few things on the website, they finish it quickly — typically within an hour. If I encounter any issues, it’s not a problem because I can just send them an email. Then, they will get in touch within the day or the next day.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It’s impressive that they’re a small group of people and they just really care about giving us what we want. They always make sure that their finished product is something that we will be proud to have out there. Moreover, they really care about the people they’re working for. I like that the people we've worked with have been super informative and knowledgeable about designing the page and the store.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We've never experienced an issue with them and they’ve always done a great job.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure you know what you’re after, what you’re looking for, and what you want your site to be. You also need to know what functionalities you want on your website. If you have those things ironed out, everything should work out.

I’m the founder and president of an e-commerce operation that markets in the jewelry space called Risen. We wanted to achieve something complementary with the crucifix and the image of the risen Christ, so we were intrigued to make that a necklace piece.

What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?
We’d just started this new company, so we looked to Big Red Jelly for some leverage on the website and from a social media standpoint. We needed to establish a presence and create something with a strong trendy aesthetic from a photography and video standpoint.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Big Red Jelly started off by doing a really thorough job at understanding our message and vision. Before we even got started on the website design, we had to come to terms with what our messaging, mission statement, and value propositions were. This was a good exercise for us to drill down into what kind of company we are and want to become.
From there, we morphed into the website design using all of the information we established at the beginning. We were able to take pictures of the same marble quarry in Italy that the original statue was drawn from and put it on the website. We’re still working with Big Red Jelly to get it live; we haven’t launched yet because we’re still tweaking some aspects.
What is the team composition?
We started working with their lead contact, who transferred us to Sierra (Director of Brand Design & Online Ads), who has helped us with messaging, and now we’re working with Zach (Digital Marketing Intern) on the website design.
How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?
We wanted someone who was used to working with smaller organizations and startups. Like with everything, we found Big Red Jelly through word of mouth from a past client of theirs. I went on their website and was able to see how they transformed their site.
I saw other work products that Big Red Jelly developed with other smaller or startup companies and really liked what they were doing. I then talked to Ben (Director of Operations) and he was pleasant to talk to; he walked me through how they go about business and that’s how we got started.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about $4,000 on the project.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in August 2020 and the engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Big Red Jelly was able to help us establish our mission and goal on our website, though it isn’t launched yet. I’ve shown a few people the prototype of the website, and they really like the work they’ve done.
How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?
They allow me access to a shared document where we go back and forth on the website content. I’ve been working with Zach on the website design, and we use Zoom to communicate. He shares the pages of the site as we design them. They follow up frequently and set meetings as needed.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their pricing distinguishes them from other providers. I didn’t expect to get such strong customer service from them like I’ve received. In terms of the people who have touched the work and their ability to keep the project moving, it’s been impressive.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, the biggest hold-up is on our end — we’re a startup so we’re trying to coordinate our supply chain and get the product where we want it.

Really think about the kind of message your company will give in the marketplace. Think about your value proposition, your goals, all of the things we don’t think about when we only think about the product being used. Companies have a soul and they will help you develop that soul for your company.

I wanted the website to be comprehensive and to the point. I wanted users to be able to set up appointments. I also needed a CRM to create a sales funnel.

I mainly worked with three people. I originally met with Ben (Director of Growth) to make all of the arrangements and then worked with Zach (Digital Creative Director) and Emma (Director of SEO) on the project’s design. I briefly met with someone about marketing.

Two of my respected business colleagues referred Big Red Jelly to me. After comparing a few companies, I chose them because of their capabilities. I loved that they were able to walk me through HubSpot.
