Project Liber8 is a non-profit organisation dedicated to shifting attitudes and behaviour towards issues impacted by migration such as forced labour, trafficking in persons (TIP), and exploitation.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

We hired Bestboy Studio to help us develop and produce three PSA videos for our campaign on shifting the Malaysian public's attitudes and behaviours on the issue of trafficking in persons (TIP) and those affected by the crime. The videos produced were each around 3-4 minutes. The Bestboy Studio team also created a teaser for each of the videos. 

As Project Liber8, we always seek to create materials and campaigns that are outside the norm, so we opted to use a short story style with characters showing their stories and how trafficking has affected them as the stories we created were based on real-life trafficking stories. This way, we believed that we would be able to hit a more emotional perspective rather than simply using facts.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

For all three PSA videos that were created, the project garnered a reach of over 500,000!

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

The team was always transparent about their work and the timeline that was realistic to the needs of the project. Most of the project was smooth sailing except for the difficulties faced by both parties to finalise the second video but the team tried their best to ensure that their creative processes were balanced with the needs and goals of our project and campaign.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What drew us to Bestboy Studio was their eagerness to learn about trafficking in persons and go outside of their norm to tackle serious and emotional videos centred around the issue. Throughout the project, they grew more attached to the issue and understood better what was needed to ensure the public would also understand the importance of dealing with the issue of trafficking.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Bestboy Studio could have done differently?

Overall, the Bestboy Studio team were great to work with! Any difficulty arose from differences in opinion on certain creative values. The Bestboy Studio team are people who are proud of their work and understandably, sometimes it was hard to settle on certain aspects of the production. However, the Bestboy Studio team was always able to jump on a call and figure things out together even if it took a few hours.
