Auxano has developed our iOS application, and the Android version is near the end of the development phase.

First, they spent time going through my project requirements and prepared a scope of work document. Once I signed that, we planned the app’s UI/UX and features. We are very happy with Auxano’s work so far.

On our development team, we have a dedicated project manager, a senior Android and a senior iOS developer, a business analyst, and a quality manager. The total team included 5 or 6 people.

I first reached out to Auxano in April 2017. The project started in early May and finished in early July. They’re currently adding some features.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Auxano delivered a high-quality product as agreed in our business requirements. The current app has really exceeded my expectations while still meeting my budget.

Their commitments are almost fulfilled. Since I had such a good experience with them, I’ve asked Auxano to add more features to the app.

How did Auxano perform from a project management standpoint?

Auxano offers outstanding attention to detail and strong communication skills. They also shared daily project updates and weekly deliverables and completed tasks on time. They used Jira to manage the project. We had no issues despite the different time zones.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciated their transparent delivery process and timeliness.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m sure there’s something they could improve, but I’ve been very pleased with their work overall.

We needed to build a mobile solution for preventing students from using WhatsApp, Facebook and other apps during training.

Auxano developed our app. There were between five and seven developers assigned to our project, based on the scope. I communicated with two of them, and there were another four or five individuals on the backend. We used a project management tool for communication.

We started working with Auxano Global Services in March 2017. The first phase has been completed, but we have continued to update and improve the app. It will be an ongoing process.

Two of their members kept in constant contact with our team. I would like to express my appreciation for them since they were good communicators, fast and responsive.

BACKGROUND

I work for an engineering and manufacturing company. I’m the independent technology consultant. I work for a major automotive client with a factory in South Carolina. They are spending several billion to avoid factory repair costs using IoT systems.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

We needed to conduct productivity improvement in an automotive manufacturing plant. To do that, we had to develop data and an application to automate communication in real time between man/machine/data, reducing downtime by providing conditional-based preventive machine maintenance.

The application helps the plant staff continuously communicate to the cloud, get the data, and send notifications to the maintenance guys no matter where they are. We developed some key options and globalized. 

SOLUTION

I looked at various people online. I want someone who can give me 24/7 support with the time difference. Their price seemed reasonable.

The first time I was on Google, I was not familiar with Clutch. Someone told me at work, “You need to check on Clutch.” So, I did it on both sides. Essentially, Auxano is small, but I think they provide a good service.

In our IoT system development for the automotive plant, we needed to provide mobile apps to key maintenance people, enabling them to get notifications in real time with machine data whenever the machine needs preventive maintenance before it breaks down.

Auxano developed mobile applications as part of the overall IoT system. The developed mobile applications that communicated to machine data in the cloud continuously. When machine parameters exceed the predefined values, the iOS/Android apps immediately send out a notification with details to the maintenance crew for preventive maintenance.  

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Auxano exceeded our expectations and delivered a creative/innovative mobile application solution as a part of the IoT automotive plant maintenance system.

The end client saved a significant amount. If their vendor machine shut down for half an hour, you’re talking about a $3 million penalty. I would say, if they have 2% shutdowns due to maintenance going off and on in a year, out of that 2%, the 2% went down to 0.001.

Like humans, these machines get sick and need medicine. For example, if you have a machine that uses oil for lubrication, and the lubrication temperature goes higher than the normal operating condition and stays too high, it kicks out a notification. Before something happens to a bearing or something, workers immediately do a replacement without shutting down the line. Label setting is huge too. There’s a tenfold improvement in the reduction of the maintenance cost.

I need to keep it anonymous because I don’t want any conflict of interest. This is a big company. There are other companies coming over here. We have Nissan and Volkswagen coming here. This is great work for me, and I think Auxano did a pretty good job. I’m happy with them because they’re not too big. I could’ve worked with a big company, but the bureaucracy kills you. Auxano has a small team without bureaucracy.

The platform is currently being tested on Auxano's private servers. We're coming close to the end.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

From my perspective, Auxano Global Services was a pleasure to work with. Auxano kept an open line of communication and figured out much of the work without requiring ample explanations from our side.

How did Auxano Global Services perform from a project management standpoint?

Despite our time difference, it was easy to work with and stay in contact with Auxano. Changes and fixes were done fast, after a quick email or text. Much of the communication was done via Skype and email, with weekly meetings for clarifying questions. We didn't use specialized project management tools.

What did you find most impressive about Auxano Global Services?

This was the first software development team I used, but I would certainly use Auxano for future projects. They were extremely open, easy to speak to, and clarified any questions I had as a non-technical person.

Auxano Global Services has built a much better and more user-friendly website for my company, which led to twice as many sales compared to 3 years ago.

Everyone in Auxano Global Services' team got back to me immediately, and I could CC their owner on every email I sent them. We didn't use any project management tools.

Our startup has launched an informative web-based and Android application aimed at farmers in India. The basic idea behind our solution is to empower farmers by marketing their organic products. Our ultimate objective is to go global, after proving our concept locally. We were launched 2 years ago, and our company has been incubated by one of the largest angel investor networks in Asia.

We needed assistance with developing our B2B e-commerce platform. Its purpose is to market farmers directly to buyers, anywhere in the world.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Auxano Global Services has developed our Android and web app. We are focusing on the web version, as it can work on users' devices regardless of operating system. It was built using Google Polymer, which can give a native-app-feeling despite it being a web app. We also have additional projects within prototype stages.

We didn't use a designer from Auxano's side, to begin with, but we've started using one in the meantime.

How did you come to work with Auxano Global Services?

We had a long selection process because it's hard to find the right knowledge for our type of project. Apart from searching online, we also asked for referrals within our network. Our due diligence was based on demos and completed products for other clients. We gave Auxano small projects, to begin with, in order to make sure that they understood our direction, had the right know-how, and could maintain good communication. Eventually, we gave Auxano the bigger project.

How much have you invested with Auxano Global Services?

The application development had a cost between $15,000 and $20,000 initially. We have an additional $6,000 to $10,000 support contract with Auxano for the next 4-6 months.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Auxano in June 2015, with smaller tasks. We started giving them bigger projects at the end of the year. We have 4-6 months of work to do. Our B2B platform is almost ready, apart from customizations. We plan to use Auxano for support so that we can focus on our core business. There are also some prototype web applications currently in process.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Since the pre-launch stage, we have tested our product and have employed a technical mentor in-house responsible for checking the development process. We pass along the feedback to Auxano from time to time, and they're more than happy to make the changes. We only receive additional charges for changes of scope.

How did Auxano Global Services perform from a project management standpoint?

Auxano's team has been very flexible in working with our core structure. After sending them a scope and agreeing on a price, we could prioritize the work additionally. We also have a flexible approach to developing our products, so a partner like Auxano was a blessing.

What did you find most impressive about Auxano Global Services?

I've appreciated Auxano's ability to adapt to our requirements. We are using Google Cloud for hosting, which is not a very popular platform at the moment. Many of the companies that we talked to could handle our software, which is Magento-driven, but didn't have cloud implementation knowledge or vice versa. Auxano was a good fit for us; they had complete knowledge, so we didn't have to onboard to providers for the same product. In this respect, I am very satisfied.

Are there any areas Auxano Global Services could improve?

Auxano is open to learning, but they will have to improve when it comes to cloud technologies if they want to compete in the global market. This is something that should be done aggressively. We'd like it for Auxano to come up with improvement suggestions from their side and surprise us.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Auxano Global Services?

As a new client, I would take small steps. We didn't know Auxano, so we gave them smaller projects initially until we got the confidence to hand over larger work. If the client knows what they want, and the provider has the know-how for developing it, I'm sure they will get a good deal.

We are a website and app developer and publisher. We have 30 apps online, with over 9 million impressions and 190,000 downloads. We develop apps for clients as well. I am the owner and director of the company. I handle app development as well.

When the work volume became too high, we started to look for developers, and slowly started building a team in India, through another company. That relationship ended in 2015, so we started looking for a new partner. My target is to have a team of at least 5 developers in India by the end of 2016.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Auxano Global Services has provided app development for iOS and Android, also some design as well as code testing.

Auxano Global Services has provided work depending on our client. I have remained involved in the process, so we haven't given Auxano Global Services complete project requirements, leaving the approach to them. We've had discussions for future work, and I know that they can independently handle app development projects, as well as provide help with the launching process.

I check with our developers from Auxano Global Services on a weekly basis, in order to gauge progress.

I wanted developers who could work on our projects fulltime. Auxano Global Services was keen to provide this for me. They also had a good project manager who was fully involved in our work. We're only using one developer from Auxano Global Services at the moment. We're looking to expand the team in the future, after our current project is completed.

They can also provide designers and testers, but because the design was already completed when our current project started, Auxano Global Services only provided help on rechecking it and making improvements.

How did you come to work with Auxano Global Services?

I am contacted by outsourcing companies weekly, either by email or phone, whether for SEO [search engine optimization], development, or anything else. I give credit to the people who handled the presales contact; they were quite good, and convinced me that Auxano Global Services would be a company that I could work with, rather than pushing for a hard sale without knowing what they were talking about. Whenever my contact didn't have a piece of information, he put me in touch with a technical person. This was key to me. Auxano Global Services is the right team, especially for people working abroad. Companies from India who have contacted us are usually unable to make a credible impression, or simply say yes to everything.

Another factor which lead me to choose Auxano Global Services is that they're based in Ahmedabad, where my brother lives. I visit that location often, which meant that I wouldn't have to make an extra trip when visiting the development team. I would have chosen them regardless, but this was another item which pushed me towards Auxano Global Services.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Our apps are still under development, so we have no feedback from the perspective of our client. Technically, Auxano Global Services' developer has been capable. I guide technical decisions, which she conformed with well. I've also appreciated that I was never dependent on a single developer's understanding. If she doesn't know something, there is always help from other teams. We needed assistance for PHP coding, and there was a team from Auxano Global Services who could help with that.

How did Auxano Global Services perform from a project management standpoint?

Auxano Global Services sent me different options, including estimates for starting development from scratch, or continuing existing work. Auxano Global Services was good at providing clear information in this regard, and they've stuck to the options that I've chosen, and delivered in a timely fashion.

We didn't use any project management tools; all the requirements were tracked through an Excel sheet. It's quite a large document, with 7-8 sheets in total. Defect management is managed similarly, given that we're only using one developer from Auxano Global Services. There is no need for anything more complex.

[Project update: Initially, everything worked fine and it seemed we had found long-term development partners. One small project was delivered on time, working fine. But, in a bigger project, it seemed they had lost interest after a bit.

Bugs which were being fixed were not fully fixed and introduced other bugs as testing was done very narrowly for the bug fixes. The testing team didn't pick up many defects, which were then being picked up by the client. On trying to resolve the issue, there was no responsibility being taken by Auxano. We were surprised by their behavior and responses. 

They are good with small projects but are not strong with larger projects.]

What did you find most impressive about Auxano Global Services?

Auxano Global Services didn't simply say yes to everything, which is good. If I simply had requirements for an app which I needed developed, there are numerous companies ready to say yes to that.

Are there any areas Auxano Global Services could improve?

I only found a lack in communication on a couple of occasions. As soon as mentioned it, everyone available started the communication again.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Auxano Global Services?

I would advise anyone in my situation, looking to outsource work abroad (including the Middle East, which offers some good developers), to be careful about whom they pick as a partner. The company needs to have a good, stable team, rather than just one good developer. Individuals tend to leave companies, so a team is key for a project's success.

For Auxano Global Services in particular, prospecting clients should remain available for discussions about testing and development, rather than simply throwing a project in their direction. If this isn't done, delivery may become a problem.

I had an idea for an app, but didn't know how I could make it happen. I did some research in terms of cost, required time, and what type of knowledge would be necessary for doing something like this.

I didn't possess 99% of the required elements, so I checked out a few companies on the web. They had the same routine and didn't impress me at all, until I reached the people from Auxano Global Services. They seemed to take an interest in what I wanted to do, and actually expanded on my idea a bit. I don't like to invest in anything that I'm not 100% sure of, but Auxano Global Services seemed to connect with what I wanted to do. I gave them a shot and I'm glad that I did.

I started working with Auxano Global Services at the beginning of May 2016. We had a 3-month project. I'm currently waiting for the iOS and Android approval process to finalize. The work that Auxano Global Services did for me is pretty much complete.

I created my app because I wanted to get into this type of adventure, and make some money. If I decide to continue it, Auxano Global Services will be the first company I call. They gave me everything that I asked for, are friendly, and understood my goals. I have no reason to go anywhere else.

For a first-time project, and based on my expectations, I think that it went fine. This was a new venture for me and, if it's successful, there are many additional things which I want to include. I'm very satisfied at this time.

Auxano Global Services delivered the work on time and on budget. Throughout the process, Auxano Global Services showed me what the progress was whenever an advance was made. I knew what I would be getting before I got it. I communicated through email, Skype, and phone with Auxano Global Services. It seemed that they were always available. I had ideas in the middle of the night at times, so I'd shoot an email to Auxano Global Services, and the next thing I knew, I received a response.

As a person who is skeptical about giving their money to a partner, I found that Auxano Global Services was able to connect with the average person. It seemed that they cared about what I wanted to do, which stood out. I almost decided to give up on the project after talking to a few companies which gave me unrealistic responses. Auxano Global Services took my idea from the start, and were interested in what I was saying.

If they're not familiar with the tech world, and aren't sure about which company they should invest in, I would advise any clients to go with their instincts. I talked to a few developers, and felt that Auxano Global Services was a good company for my needs. Whether my idea turns out to be great or not, Auxano Global Services delivered what I asked for.

Initially, we were in contact with the sales team. After we selected to hire Auxano Global Services for the project, we were assigned to a project manager as the main point of contact throughout the project. For development, they had a team of frontend, backend and QA to support the project manager.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

My previous experience with another vendor left us disappointed but Auxano Global Services was an absolute dream come true. We are non-technical and it was so headache to deal with Technical people for us and we were so afraid to whom we should trust but working with Auxano it was like pain-killer, we are so relief.

They developed what we wanted, but we will be rebranding this particular app. Now, we’re working on a different product with them.

Our project manager is always on top of things and his Proactive approach leads to the project quality delivery on time. All our concerns were addressed quickly, and our communication was always clear.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their team are very knowledgeable and always gives honest feedback when we request to implement additional features. They never feel us like left-out in the Sky.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
