The scope was extensive. Automat Studio delivered two distinct visual ecosystems:

 1) The “Prevention Package” (Adults/Adolescents): A complete visual identity using sophisticated photo-collage art direction. Deliverables included a comprehensive textbook for peer educators, educational board games (box, board, and cards—incl. Trafedo), posters, and supporting promotional materials.

2) “Miša & Maša” (Children): A child-friendly prevention system featuring character design, a comic-style large-format poster, coloring books, puzzles, a storybook, and the “1, 2, 3 From Home to School” board game. Every asset was modular, allowing for easier translation and adaptation across different formats and media.

Reached 350,000+ people via peer education (as of Jul 2017) and localized into 7+ languages. The design delivered high-precision clarity for children, teens, and high-risk adults—across cultures and contexts.

A psychologically engineered education framework—metaphor + gamification—making a sensitive topic accessible without sensationalism. Materials were immediately usable in the field and built for repeatable nationwide rollout.

14+ years in active use with zero redesign—rare proof of ROI and timeless, world-class craft. Automat Studio turned institutional content into a prevention system that still sets the national benchmark.

Automat Studio has the ability to translate "invisible" social problems into a powerful visual language. They didn't just design books; they designed a psychological framework for education. The fact that their work from 14 years ago still looks modern and is being used across Europe and wider today is a proof of their exceptional craft. We’re most impressed by their ability to move between very different contexts – corporate, municipal, cultural, hospitality – while keeping each project visually coherent and appropriate for its audience. They care about details, from typography to print specs, and at the same time bring strong creative ideas that make the work stand out. We also value that we always work directly with Milan as the principal designer, rather than being passed to juniors, so the quality and accountability are always consistent.

If you need a long-term partner who can handle both creative direction and production-ready design across print and digital, Automat Studio is a very good choice.

The only thing we sometimes wish for is even more of their time, because we tend to send many different requests at once. Overall, we’re very satisfied with the collaboration.

- Design an enterprise admin UX for configuring and operating complex AI + HITL workflows. - Create scalable UI patterns and a modular framework to ship new workflow modules faster. - Improve auditability and reliability with clear states, traceability, and validation loops. - Redesign the worker UX to maximize speed and clarity for high-volume global microtasking. - Establish design governance so teams could ship consistently without redesigning core UI.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Automat provided the end-to-end design of the Stak enterprise suite and microtasking web apps. The team worked on a multi-year engagement from the project's inception to almost every feature where we needed significant design input. The team worked on the admin side, workflow builder, and mobile web app for microtasking, including solving innovative UX problems unique to microtask completion on any mobile device, such as audio transcript editing, video and image annotation, tutorials, and skilling.Automat delivered design files, complete front-end specification code, Figma prototypes, style guides, animations, and static imagery for tutorials and teaser videos.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Most design teams execute within known patterns. Automat Studio builds new ones when no pattern exists. They helped us turn complex AI and human workflows into a clear enterprise control layer, with the auditability, scalability, and design governance needed for real production use. In our ecosystem, enterprise AI tooling and global microtask infrastructure had to coexist within one coherent design language, a problem conventional UI practice does not really cover. They brought system-level thinking, design governance, and visual craft that made genuinely complex workflows feel obvious to use. That combination is rare.

We did not want a standard reference site, but an experience that would make the topic more approachable, especially for younger audiences, while remaining serious and respectful. What Automat Studio did especially well was recognizing that these projects required different design approaches. They brought clarity and hierarchy to one, and atmosphere and interpretation to the other, while maintaining a consistently high standard across both.

What stood out most was their ability to work convincingly in two very different modes. One project required order, hierarchy, and editorial discipline. The other required atmosphere, interpretation, and a more inviting entry point into a complex subject. Very few studios can do both equally well. They also approached design as a tool for clarity and access, not just appearance. In the educational project especially, their work helped make the material feel more open, engaging, and easier to connect with for people who were not already familiar with it.
