For what projects/services did your company hire Appy Ventures, and what were your goals?

Our lead engineer only created our platform and then left so we needed help to maintain and continue iterating the platform.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Patrice has a great handle on marketplaces and also the way the tech can help to inform, drive and maximise bookings/sales. I was confident that his team could deliver the solutions we needed at an affordable price. Patrice's expert input - almost as a consultant CTO - was also a driver for us to go with Appy.

We had a tech lead and then a front end and a back end dev.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The work was delivered to a high standard on a very tight deadline.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Good comms, we used Slack and Asana as well as having the odd video call when needed.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The Appy team managed to take on a platform coded by another engineer, get up to speed with it quickly and perform fairly major surgery!

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There were one or two issues with misunderstandings over jobs but we resolved this by backing up Asana and Slack with regular video calls.

We wanted a long term tech and innovation partner to build an MVP and follow through to commercial launch

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We reviewed four major companies who focused on start ups and getting an MVP built. Appy outshined all contenders due to their leadership and the fact the challenges the team to go faster.

Build and MVP app and follow through with launching a marketplace for commercial launch May22 this is all about developing multiple channels quickly with serious brands across the globe.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

I have worked with at least five of them and all where passionate and came across as believing in what we where doing and above all committing above the normal service levels I would expect.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Delivered on time and to budget the MVP and currently the next stage is also on time.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We work in a very agile manner and quick decisions are made to make sure dates are kept to.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Flexibility and passion along with a mindset to truly develop long term relationships.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

As with all companies it’s about additional resource but keeping Appy nimble and personable.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder of an application called ILookGoodApp. We have two employees and some freelancers.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Appy Ventures?

We needed developers to build our app that allows users to create a digital record of their wardrobe looks.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We sent them a design brief for the app, and they then gave us a schedule for the work and a quote based on our requirements. They’re also helping us build an iOS and Android version of the app.

What is the team composition?

We work with the founder and a project manager who works with a tech team.

How did you come to work with Appy Ventures?

I found them through a referral, but I also looked for options online. I spoke to about 15 top-rated companies prior to choosing them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2020, and our engagement is still ongoing.
 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I measure success with them by checking on how they’re fulfilling what they said they would do. So far, their work has been excellent, and we haven’t experienced any app bugs or crashes.

How did Appy Ventures perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been excellent with project management. We communicate via Zoom calls and email. We also use Figma for the designs.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I find their productivity to be most impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No.

Be clear in your design brief and be flexible as you go along through the process.
