He delivered an excellent website — it was simple, easy to use, and had awesome colors. Also, we’re now in the first position on the Google search ranking. I’ll hire him again this summer to make another website for my other business.

There weren’t many personal websites for casino marketing experts at the time. I needed a site where I could showcase my side business and my expertise to potential customers, so I contacted AlexBerendei.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I had several conversations with Alex (Owner) to tell him about myself, my business, and the purpose of the website. I told him what I needed in terms of the modules and sections, and we agreed that he would design the site according to my needs and specifications. I also told him not to use any of the open platforms that were available at the start of this project, so he used Drupal. I let him make the choices when it came to website development, since I was not so familiar with the platforms. 

After those conversations, Alex came up with an initial design that we went on to refine. Although the project started six years ago, we started working on making the website adaptive to mobile phones and tablets. Alex built the entire website to display in two languages and has ensured that I could upload and update content on my own. He handled the creation of the domain and the setting up of my email, as well.

Alex was recommended to me by a former colleague of mine. I met with him, asked if he knew anything about the casino business in Romania, among other things, and was really happy with our first meeting. He was open, confident, and already had ideas on how to help me, so I decided to give him a try.

Our contract started in the last quarter of 2015. We have developed the website and are now working on hosting and maintenance. Alex is also doing several structural changes every now and then, the latest being the integration of an e-commerce module.

In general, I received positive feedback when I asked my friends and colleagues what they thought about my project and the way it was done. I was very content and happy. Though the website was not for my main job, it was very useful for my side business. Right now, I have a lot of content and am using the site for my personal branding.

Even though it was not easy for me to put time into the project, since I was working 8–10 hours everyday, we managed to put the website together. We used the evening, weekends, and any free time I had to meet. We mostly communicated via email, phone calls, and face-to-face meetings. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most impressive thing about Alex was his flexibility in terms of meetings and communication; he always joined me during my periods of availability. He was very efficient, doing more and talking less. Somehow, he read my mind and was able to execute my ideas well.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There could’ve been a little more support when it came to teaching me how to use the platform and how to update the content. It was not so easy for me at the beginning because what was complicated for me was probably very basic to Alex. In general, however, it was not such a big problem. He helped me understand everything quickly and easily.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Set your project to have clear deadlines and steps, as I believe the IT field is busier now compared to when we started the project. Back then, it was easy for me to reschedule and talk to Alex at any time, but now he has to have a clear timeframe.
