BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

The Spectator is the oldest continuously published weekly magazine in the world and continues to published print magazines as well as a highly subscribed online presence. I am the CTO and Director of Digital at The Spectator.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire aleios, and what were your goals?

This summer we're re-platforming The Spectator across all media channels and Aleios have been indispensable in working with us on our serverless AWS estate.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Very few vendors in the serverless world inspire the level of confidence that Ben and the team at Aleios do. This was key for us.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Aleios worked with us on several projects. One in particular was to write serverless processes to produce several new XML feeds from our headless content management system. This work was scheduled in and completed within a very tight timeline.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with Ben (CEO), a senior architect and a developer on our XML project. We have also worked with Scrum Masters and other people on other projects.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

This work was core to our mobile re-platforming work and was successfully delivered in a short timespan. Aleios worked with both The Spectator and the external agency building the new app smoothly. This made for a good experience all round.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Using Slack as the primary source of communications worked brilliantly for all of the stakeholders on this particular project. Aleios were also very good at working with us to work through the unknowns of the project too.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

aleios has a confident and energetic approach to working with their clients that instills maximum trust.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Within the scope of our various projects with Aleios I can not offer any areas for improvement on communication or methodology.
