I’m a systems engineer for the local government.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenges were you trying to address with AKTEK?

We needed to update the government’s website. In this process, we came to the realization that we needed to improve the branding of the institution. The design we had didn’t match the needs of our website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed a website for us and created a new institutional brand. The core of our system is based on Drupal, they also implemented UX design into the website. We also had other projects with them including an open data project, new portals, and improvements on the site’s functionalities.

What is the team composition?

We worked with 2 developers: one person in charge of infrastructure and security, and one person in charge of UX design.

How did you come to work with AKTEK?

We had worked with them on a previous project. They had experience with transactional websites and had worked with other companies in the country, so we contacted them.

How much have you invested in them?

The bulk of the project cost around $60,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in 2014, and it is a continuous collaboration. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The results of the website have been great, we have been awarded for our website. We received an award from the national government for having the best municipal government website and best national website.

Also, they have engaged with our institution which has led to the development of numerous interesting projects in which they have gotten involved beyond our expectations. 

How did AKTEK perform from a project management standpoint?

Depending on the project, we create a document including the requirements of the project and milestones. With that document, they create an estimation of delivery times and a schedule. Usually, their estimations end up being 90 or 95% accurate.

We are completely satisfied with their performance. They have a great planning process, that includes a detailed follow-up, ticketing platform which leads to flawless execution.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their biggest strength is working with Drupal. They're constantly working to adapt and improve their skills in the newest technologies and to adapt to the needs of their clients. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve their marketing strategies. Numerous institutions have come to us asking about the improvements to our website, and we always recommend them. However, I believe their marketing could be more aggressive so they could reach more companies and become easier to find for those interested. 

Also, they have been growing so I believe they should be careful and try their best to keep their resources as they have plenty of skilled and experienced people that are already familiar with their permanent projects.
