I am the owner of SportsLab360, a company that provides online instruction to youth athletes.

For what projects/services did your company hire 6 o'clock films, and what were your goals?

We hired 6 o'clock films to shoot a promotional video/commercial for SportsLab360. It was intended to focus more on our mission, while also showing how the product works. Ultimately, it will be used to drive exposure and conversions.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I came across 6 o'clock films on a Colorado-based website about top producers/videographers in the area. I was looking for someone like-minded, flexible, and creative who also had plenty of experience and a strong portfolio of past work.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.

To start, I presented Gabe with my vision for how the commercial would feel. From there, we had probably 3-4 meetings to discuss details and try to storyboard everything out. Being a small company and working with a limited budget, I decided to take on the sourcing of actors, which I found through a friend/coach. After that, Gabe sort of took back over and worked with the actors to make clear what was expected. The shoot lasted about 8 hours in total, and Gabe and his lighting assistant were focused and professional the whole time. After all the footage was taken, I had another 3-4 meetings with Gabe to piece it together, as I wanted to be as involved in the process as made sense. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

I worked directly with Gabe, who was a great communicator throughout. I wanted to be involved without being overbearing, and I believe we struck a nice balance. He never made any huge decisions without running them by me first, and all the smaller decisions he made without bothering me were positive.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The final product is great, and I have no doubt that it will lead to greater exposure and conversions. I can follow-up with a review if I am able to edit at that time, but I just received the final product this week. But, the commercial which I am sure is included here will speak for itself.

As I mentioned, the communication was perfect. It was just the right amount where he was not bothering me with every little decision (as that would simply be inefficient) but would loop me in on bigger picture questions. As far as a punctuality of deliverables goes, Gabe was always on time--if not early--in this regard.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Gabe's ability to understand someone else's vision for a production is second to none. After a few minutes of me describing the look and feel of the commercial, I felt as though he had a perfect grasp on what I was looking for. That was validated of course when I saw the final product as well. The quality of their work speaks for itself. They were also very personable throughout the process.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Honestly, there is nothing immediately that comes to mind.

My organization is called Flourish Veterinary Consulting, and we help veterinary practices prioritize their workplace well-being. I’m a strategist for the company, so I pull from the applied sciences of positive psychology, coaching, neuroscience, things like that to hep ordinary professionals and veterinary organizations craft environments in which their professionals can really thrive.

What challenge were you trying to address with 6 o’clock films?

I have a lot of organizations reach out to me about bringing me in for speaking events, keynotes, workshops, and things of that nature. I think I’m at a point in my career where people are finding me and becoming interested, but not necessarily being able to find out enough information just on the internet, so I wanted to create a promo video to help lend a little bit of credibility and legitimacy to the practice.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

He started by doing some research on my practice, reviewing my website, and asking me some pretty engaging questions over the phone. We discussed what I wanted the final product to look like, and then he sent me a detailed proposal that covered pretty much everything from start to finish.

On the day of the actual event, he showed up about two hours early to set up, prepped me and the audience, and then filmed everything from multiple angles, as well as some audience testimonials after the talk. Once everything had been filmed, he edited everything together and sent it back to me for approval.

What is the team composition?

I just worked with Gabe (Owner, 6 o’clock films).

How did you come to work with 6 o’clock films?

A friend and advisor of mine knew Gabe and told me that he was a wonderful, local videographer trying to build up his portfolio. When I expressed interest, he introduced us, and that’s how we started working together.

How much have you invested with them?

The total project cost was under $5,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

From when we started planning to when he was able to actually film and edit the video lasted from August–September 2019.
