Legacy app, originating from 2011. The app went through a few software companies and when 2n joined it already had a legacy and redesigned version which was not yet production ready. During that time they worked solely on backend, that handled usage of frontend build in react, and kept up the legacy system working with the new requirements without introducing breaking changes to it, so that legacy could coexist with redesigned until the users could make the full switch.

It was very important for us that we introduce a strong skilled developer to our client as we were at that time short staffed but at the same time wanted to increase the size of the team and help the client to meet their goals.

It was a success, client was satisfied and we maintained good relationship. Goals were met and we now were able to increase the level of our cooperation with them, also thanks to 2N.

Very effective. The provided developer had great skills, was communicative and participated in all the meetings we invited him to. He was giving us a lot of feedback and was always available when we needed him.

Top notch performance and full compatibility with our own standards so no full onboarding was needed, he just knew what we required. That doesn't happen that often in our industry.

I'm a producer at a nonprofit organization called the Song of the Goat Theater Association. We have a project called Brave Kids, which provides kids from all over the world with a venue to meet and attend artistic workshops.

During the pandemic, we had to slow down our activities, which meant we couldn’t run the theater and invite artistic groups from around the world. But then we found this opportunity called Tech To The Rescue, which is an initiative that connects tech companies with nonprofit organizations seeking technological assistance to boost their projects. We signed up because we needed a new website for our Brave Kids project.

What was the scope of their involvement?

2N IT built a website based on our ideas and on the design created for us by another company. The site consisted of pictures, videos, the history of the project, and descriptions of the groups that work with us.

I worked directly with a project manager from 2N IT.

We found 2N IT online when we signed up for the Tech To The Rescue initiative.

It was free of charge as part of the Tech To The Rescue initiative.

We worked together from November 2020–November 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The entire Brave Kids team was pleased with the website, which looks exactly how we envisioned it. It’s well-made, incredibly easy to navigate, and looks very professional. Overall, 2N IT definitely helped us meet our goals.

How did 2N IT perform from a project management standpoint?

2N IT performed well in terms of project management. The project did take longer than expected because we did not set any deadlines or put pressure on the 2N IT team.

I’m very satisfied with their work and would give them a perfect score. The app does what it’s supposed to do, enabling us to deliver content as quickly as possible. My peers here are happy.

We communicated every few days about their progress. When tasks weren’t clear to them, they would reach out for clarity. Communication was smooth and frequent.

They’re a communicative, passionate team. In my area, they host free webinars on programming because of their enthusiasm for the field.

We’d developed a first version of the platform with another provider, and we were looking for a company that could provide us maintenance services and ongoing development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They built our platform on Ruby on Rails for the backend, with a React frontend. Currently, it’s just a web app.

This is a marketplace that allows users to plan and book multiday trips all over the world. We’re currently aggregating offers from Polish operators, but we plan to include international tour operators after the pandemic subsides. The main value of the platform is that it allows users to compare multiple offers in one place.

The tour operator market is very fragmented, and the quality of their websites varies. We’re helping operators move their services online. Our platform is complex, accommodating for multiday tours that package transportation, accommodation, varied trips, and additional options. It allows packages to be configured for customers’ needs.

What is the team composition?

We have one dedicated web developer and one project manager on 2N IT’s side. We’re mainly working with the developer, and the project manager is engaged when necessary.

How did you come to work with 2N IT?

We mainly found them through recommendations. 2N IT was collaborating with the company that made the first version of the platform.

We’ve spent around $15,000 so far.

We started working with 2N IT in January 2020, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The delivered code and features are working without any problems. 2N IT has very good response times for maintenance issues, and problems are solved immediately. In terms of working on new features, they’re proactive in supporting effective solutions that meet our needs. They’re a business partner, not just a development partner. There’s engagement from their side on making this into an outstanding platform.

How did 2N IT perform from a project management standpoint?

We have weekly and biweekly standups with the developer, which are basically sprint summaries. That’s working pretty well. They deliver what we plan in the sprints. We communicate daily on Slack, and we use Jira and Confluence for project management. They’re pretty responsive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They took a personal interest in the project and a proactive approach to proposing efficient solutions. Proactive, they come up with ways of coding the platform more efficiently, in terms of time and money.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Everything I wanted has been delivered. I can’t think of anything they could improve on at the moment.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Make sure 2N IT understands the product and the business goals going behind it. We showed them how we’d like to approach the travel industry differently, and they really liked it. They’re open and honest people, but it’s really important for the customer to present their vision clearly in the beginning. That will result in much more engagement from 2N IT’s side.

Ideamotive is a fast-growing software house based in the heart of Europe, in Warsaw, Poland. We are experts in Web & Mobile technologies and outstanding interactive UX/UI design. We had to develop a custom software solution from scratch for our client from abroad. 2N IT was hired for full-stack web development of this solution. Our client was trying to address a business opportunity that exists on the US market in Kitchens and Bathrooms redesign industry. Our custom solution would allow redesign companies to run their whole business in the application.

What were your goals for this project?

The web application had to be fully responsive (mobile, tablet, and desktop) and support major browsers and devices. The software was developed in Ruby on Rails. The main impact from the business perspective is to simplify the day-to-day operations of the Kitchen and Bathroom redesign companies and to improve their productivity.

How did you select this vendor?

My company recommended me this vendor due to its good reputation.

The vendor was fully responsible for the full-stack web development of the application: frontend, backend, database, and server setup. Requirements were provided from our side in the form of user stories and graphic designs.

What was the team composition?

Our team consisted of 2 full-stack web developers (coming from the vendor side), a project manager, designer, and 2 product owners (on the client-side).

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The MVP was pushed to production recently and is currently used by the client. The application provides a good user experience and a more productive way for our client to run their business.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Agile Scrum approach was used to manage this project. The team followed the best scrum practices: sprint planning, dailies, demos, etc. Requirements were broken down into user stories and were delivered early and often. Tools that were used: Slack, Jira, Google Hangouts, Google Docs, GitHub, Confluence

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Developers were very professional and committed to their work. They followed all the best practices of software development and Agile. I really felt like we built a very productive team, opened for creativity, always ready to support each other, and committed to produce their best work. I am very satisfied with our cooperation with the vendor and would definitely be glad to work on more projects with them.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The vendor was very opened to feedback and improvement and we were improving our cooperation as we worked. So at the moment, there is nothing I could think of.

I’m the co-founder and CEO of Yoush, a startup manufacturer of powdered foods. We provide nutritionally-balanced meal replacements.

What challenges were you trying to address with 2N IT?

My partner and I are food technologists, so we took care of the formulation of the product, but we didn’t know anything about websites or the architecture of the marketplace we were going to use. We approached 2N IT to take care of everything around our online shop and landing page.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

2N IT built our landing page and e-commerce platform from scratch, including UI/UX design. They consulted with us on how to create the simplest journey for users to buy a product from our shop. I believe they’re using Ruby on Rails, and they have tools in place for showing us staging versions of the site.

Adam (CEO) is working as our project manager, and we’re also in contact with two developers.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve kept milestones for different parts of the website development, and 2N IT has delivered on time. We’re confident that they’re taking care of the work. Adam has an analytical mind for managing projects, and he’s been able to translate our non-technical requests into workable solutions.

I’m satisfied with what they’ve delivered so far, and that’s why I’m continuing to work with them.

How did 2N IT perform from a project management standpoint?

I rank them highly in this regard. The schedules they proposed made sense, and they accounted for possible setbacks. We’re using Trello, and we also communicate through standard phone and video calls. It was convenient for us to have videoconferences during the COVID-19 lockdown.

It’s a combination of things. They’ve taken care of the full complexity of the solution being built. Every part of the process is on their side. They looked at our solution from the point of view of the end-user, and they actually corrected me on some of the requirements I brought in the beginning.

Clients should tell them as much as possible about their product and goal from the beginning. 2N IT asks a lot of questions and challenges you, so your initial point of view will change.

Well, by having the team from 2NT, we could secure a long term project that is going on until now.

Each of the team members is very supportive and gives great feedback. Different skill sets and experience are not an issue as they support each other very well.

They didn’t track the quantitative side of the work, but I’m satisfied with their work based on the general data.

How did 2N IT perform from a project management standpoint?

I enjoy working with them. They’re very quick and responsive. The only problem I had was that they kept switching project managers, but I’ll defend them because they worked full time throughout it.

They’re very good at communicating. They met every deadline — if they didn’t the mistake was on my side. We used both Slack and Trello.

I’m very happy with their response times and their communication. Despite working directly with engineers, they are incredibly responsive.

They don’t have great project management. Although they’re a small team, they could’ve been better at project management and keeping track of the picture we’re working on.

We could launch the app MVP as planned, with ease. This was crucial to see if our target market has a true or any interest in the app at all.

Highly effective. We didn't have to explain much, and the process went really smoothly.

The delivery was impressive. We had almost zero comments on the work. The code was very clean and the further help in the front end implementation went like we were sitting next to each other. They gave us exactly what we were looking for with a quick turnaround time. Fully aligned to our brief.
