We had a standalone project to build an application for automotive audio tuning. The application would connect to the vehicle and control our embedded software.

The deliverable was a Node.js/Electron app. It was developed iteratively with functionality added step by step. Work was loosely divided into the binary communication protocol to communicate with the embedded system, and the development of the front-end and business logic, comprising multiple screens. A custom graph/plot visualization was also created.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Due to a lack of available hardware we were only able to test the app in a simulated environment. This was fully working, on budget and on schedule. However, during hardware integration, unforeseen issues became apparent that needed to be resolved. Ultimately, after some extra work, we have a fully functional app being used for our automotive product delivery this year.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Project management was strong and diligent, including close tracking of the budget and understanding of requirements. There was very good communication via Slack and useful video calls as necessary. They were also extremely flexible and considerate about disruptions to the project from our side.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their overall attitude (flexibility, teamwork and effort - often late into the night) to deliver what we needed and resolve issues.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There were some issues with code quality and reusability over the project, in particular those that came apparent in integration testing and required a refactor to put right. This could have been better planned and more quickly reviewed by us, but equally they could have ensured architecture decisions were fully discussed and approved before starting work.

Our core product is a mobile application, and we wanted to bring on developers who could assist us in moving faster to build the app while also ensuring that our app would be able to scale as we grow.

We interviewed numerous agencies as part of our search. We appreciated that the Fusion Tech team was highly communicative, and that they thoroughly reviewed our designs prior to agreeing to the contract. They asked thoughtful questions about our plans, and they generally showed clear consideration for the product and overall user experience.

We provided designs for the application, which included basic login flow, a news feed, push notifications, and many other features for a basic social media application. The app was built in React Native, originally for iOS, and then eventually launched for Android. Our backend was a Postgres database hosted on a service called Supabase. We have been developing the application over the past year, and have built a variety of new features over time.

We have one engineer, one project manager, and a couple of different QA team members who have worked with us.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The deliverables have been executed promptly, and we've been happy with the adoption thus far. Since launching, we've gotten excellent feedback from our users about the ease of use of the app, and overall high satisfaction with the product.

We hold weekly meetings with our project manager where we review upcoming work and answer any questions about current projects. We also use Slack to communicate regularly about realtime questions or issues. Finally, the project manager maintains tasks in ClickUp to track specific work.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Our developer has absolutely exceeded our expectations in speed of execution and skill.I review his code regularly, and it has been consistently high quality and delivered quickly. We also have been so grateful for the input from our project manager as we evaluate designs. She is proactive in identifying potential usability issues, and she has on many occasions provided excellent suggestions or input that make it clear that she is thinking through the full user experience of our product.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We don't have any suggestions or feedback at this time! We only wish that they also worked on WordPress, but appreciate that they are up-front about their core competencies, and we respect that decision.

We had reviewed a number of developers both in the U.S. and abroad. We interviewed Fusion's project manager and designers, received a quote, and ultimately selected their team for our project.

We provided access to our staging site in order to receive a quote. We faced challenges relating to structural errors of our existing app. I think everyone was frustrated in the beginning. However, Fusion worked with our team to try to come to the best outcome. I am glad we all stuck in through the first days.

We ADORE the Project Manager and developer now assigned to our project. The initial designer has since transitioned from the company, but Fusion did the work to source and onboard a new designer. I was glad for them to take on this responsibility so the project could continue.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

As soon as we launched the new app, we say a massive increase in downloads as well as positive reviews in the app store. The final deliverable has moved our product to a new level of competition.

They've taken great effort to understand the business model to ensure the technology is best suited to our needs. We have a regular standing meeting as well as she is available at any time if I should require. I feel SitterTree has gained another team member.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The project management has been excellent since working with Elena. In addition, the developer assigned to our project is neat and mostly gets things right the first time. I can rely that the app will work well for users. I also appreciate the QA team. While we also do internal testing, our work is less because of Fusion's QA review.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

As I mentioned, in the beginning, the quote and structural challenges were difficult to anticipate as Fusion was working with an existing app with a lot of existing code. I am pleased to say the team made adjustments - a new project manager, fresh developer, waived certain fees when QA was not successful, and we have been operating smoothly for more than six months. I share this to highlight their ability to work in partnership with clients.

We wanted our mobile app to be users ready with the ability to scale rapidly. We needed the usability to be on relatively on par visually with current social networking applications.

Over the past 3 and a half months, the fusion tech team has helped us iterate through constant tests and updates. The initial scope of the project was just to help complete the google integration and level set the android and apple designs. Once the project was started, the scope changed as we decided to utilize Fusion Techs help for further major upgrades (design rehaul, notifications etc)

The app has not launched yet so we can not fully evaluate the success at this time, but progress has been made.

It's been solid. A lot of the communication issues have been due to the considerable time difference. We have communicated primarily through Slack. There have been some delays in response time and some lack of communication about availability, but overall the workflow has been effective.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive thing about Fusion Tech to us has been their flexibility. They were able to make a lot of changes that we requested on the fly.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We would say communication, speed, and attention to detail could always be improved on. But overall, we are happy with the work.

Our EverStore POS was developed 5 five years ago purely on iOS as an iPad POS system. To achieve worldwide innovation leadership we decided to redevelop our POS frontend on React crossplattform technology.

With the new React EverStore POS we are the first POS vendor worldwide who can support th new generation of Android Smart POS Terminals. With the new innovation we are targeting in Europe the marketleadership for SmartPOS Terminals.

We were scanning Upwork for a development partner and I felt overwhelmed by the large amount of dev partners offering their services to you.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We presented our EverStore POS on the leading global trade fair EuroShop in Düsseldorf as an exhibitor. We received the feedback that everybody on the trade fair is talking about EverStore.

We got new partnerships with high potential, started with first investor talks and received amazing feedback from potential customers.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We did Scrum on a high level and had an very efficient team collaboration. Product backlog was defined in JIRA including DoR and DoD. We used Slack for ongoing communications and had several times a week backlog refinement calls and daily calls.

With the whole Scrum enchilada and efficient team collaboration with Fusion we developed a complete new POS solution in just six months where are teams would need years for it!

What did you find most impressive about this company?

A perfect team setup with SW-experts, architects, QA testers, UX designers and an outstanding key account Pavel.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Although it might be challenging for a Russian company but communication skills in English is worth to invest for all team members.

I’m the co-founder of a software startup called CloudPano. It’s a 360-degree photography platform that allows users to go out and find real estate properties, which they can then create virtual tours of. Our solution provides an immersive virtual tour that can be used for marketing and sales.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Fusion Tech?

When we first enlisted Fusion Tech, we were trying to redo our user authentication process. It had previously been limited to Facebook and Google verification. We wanted users to be able to log in in other ways, like through a basic email account.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Fusion Tech got their foot in the door by executing our user authentication, which was a fairly simple project. They eventually came to lead the development of our entire application.

We follow an agile development model, which they’re well acclimated to. They split their time between “Epics,” what we call epic, larger-scale components of the app, and smaller QA projects.

The main project they’ve been working on is CloudPano Live, which they’ve integrated Twilio’s Video API. It allows users to essentially hold video conferencing calls during the tour they’re on. We collaborated to design the UX/UI and to implement its development. That’s been a huge value-adding feature that we can anticipate an enormous amount of usage from.

We also took it a step further and integrated a coordinates broadcasting system, so that users can stream where they are at 360-space during the call. Additionally, they’ve executed an enterprise feature, which allows users to market their properties to broker houses and real estate customers.

Finally, they’ve conducted a Google Street View integration. Users can not only create a tour on our platform, but they can publish that same tour straight to Google Street View. You can look inside an immersive street view Google tour for the property, the content of which is uploaded through CloudPano.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with a variety of people; right now, we have three developers. Additionally, we have a project manager, a QA specialist, and a designer.

How did you come to work with Fusion Tech?

Their team lead provided a tentative plan and overview, and I thought that it demonstrated their collaborative nature, as well as their technical excellence. I took them on to complete the authentication task, which they executed amazingly.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent close to $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The collaboration began in November 2019 and is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve been able to quantify our success in a few ways. First off, I’d highlight the pure code velocity at which they’ve executed our product. Within our agile framework, we assign our “epics” with arbitrary numbers that pertain to their relative complexity. With the developers, I track how much complexity they’ve tackled, each week.

Before Fusion was employed with us, we were getting 7–10 complexity points each week. Now, that number is close to 30. They’ve boosted our productivity by three-fold, thanks to their technical expertise and team size. They’ve helped me better define and align the features before we begin development. Their partnership has allowed us to produce our up-and-coming mockups, as well as user stories.

I’ve also anticipated a positive ROI on these “epics.” Thanks to the team’s consistent competence, I can measure the expected effort — and therefore the cost — behind the particular feature. I put that against our ROI estimate and almost always see success, both value- and revenue-wise.

How did Fusion Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

I communicate with Vsevolod (Project Coordinator), and he distills all of our discussion points to the larger team. I also communicate directly with the designer and developers. They’re extremely collaborative and are eager to hold discussions with me on Slack or Google Meet. They do an excellent job of utilizing PM tools to keep track of their progress. I never have to worry about the status of the task, since they’re very transparent and organized.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’d highlight the high degree of technical competency. I feel like I’m working with people who are very well-equipped; If I give them a task, I can trust their developers to simply handle it or figure out a way. I spent 8 years in tech consulting, and this team has been as good or better than most of the people I’ve worked with in these tech firms.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I really don’t think so.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I attribute some of our success to the fact that I come from a technical background. I’m able to empower our team properly since I have technical expertise. I think that giving them a technical stakeholder is really helpful, but it’s not at all required because their role is to transform business needs into technical requirements. So, even if I weren’t there, Fusion would do a great job of handling requirements.

Fusion Team’s code was not always up to standard, and their documentation and instructions were not always clear.

Anton was completely flexible and responsive to our needs.  He really focused on uderstanding our objectives in detail, and brought a great deal of common sense to the process.  Anton kept us abreast of the work progress through regular virtual meetings and messages, and made himself available almost whenever we needed to meet with him.

I honestly have no gripes or complaints with Fusion Tech and struggle to think of an area for improvement.  They've done all I've asked of them, and more. We found Fusion Tech over a year ago, and have been thoroughly pleased with their work quality, communication, professional advice, and integrity.  Fusion Tech has helped us bring a suite of mobile apps from initial concept to publication, and we have felt strongly supported and understood every step of the way.  I would especially like to highlight the team’s flexibility, responsiveness, and desire to get the job done on time and within budget.  I feel really grateful to have found the team I work with (led by Anton & Rimma), and I would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone looking for help with a development project.  Looking back I don’t see how we could have come this far this fast without their help.  They’re awesome.
