Staff Augmentation for Cybersecurity Company
the project
"On an organizational level and an employee-specific level, their responsiveness is unmatched within their industry."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the VP of engineering at a cybersecurity company. We’re focused on human risk management rather than machine risk, specifically cybersecurity awareness training for employees.
What challenge were you trying to address with WeSoftYou?
Our company was growing and we needed to scale up operations quickly.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They’re building a number of very critical products for us, operating similarly to our internal teams. They work on front- and backend development in Python. Since we offer AWS cloud-native solutions, we trust them to be familiar with the parameters of cloud development as well. We work with them on a daily basis.
What is the team composition?
Day-to-day, we work with Eugen (Project Manager). He actively works with us to make sure that their team’s actions are aligned with our goals. We’ve also worked with Maks (CEO & Founder), Andrew (Head of Product Development), and Viktoriia (Delivery Director & VP of Engineering).
How did you come to work with WeSoftYou?
We had looked at a number of potential firms but ended up going with them because we weren’t interested in a traditional outsourcing relationship. Rather, we wanted a collaborative staff augmentation model for this partnership. We were confident they could provide us with this level of service.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $300,000–$350,000 with them so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve worked together since December 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their work has directly contributed to our revenue growth. We’ve grown our company by about 300% over the past 18 months, which we wouldn’t have been able to do without their support. Their team has delivered an average of 4.1 weekly commits, which outpaces the industry average of 3.5. Additionally, they’ve helped us increase our code coverage from 20% to 50%.
I’ve managed a number of outsourcing relationships in my career, and they’ve really stood out to me. Oftentimes, external firms force you to conform to their set processes, which can derail overall efficiency. WeSoftYou, on the other hand, has worked diligently to understand our goals. Based on this understanding, they’ve morphed their practices to fit our needs.
How did WeSoftYou perform from a project management standpoint?
Everything’s gone well. We’ve used Jira for project management purposes and Slack for daily communication.
What did you find most impressive about them?
On an organizational level and an employee-specific level, their responsiveness is unmatched within their industry. They can quickly find both potential problems and legitimate solutions.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Their team is constantly improving, so I can’t think of anything. They’ve grown tremendously over the course of our engagement.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Do everything you can to include their team in the day-to-day operations of your organization. If you ensure they understand the needs of your customer and the purpose of the project, they’ll remain dedicated to delivering a strong product.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm a co-founder and product manager at RadiusAI. We help our customers create safer, healthier, more efficient locations using our full-stack, easy to implement, AI-driven products.
For what projects/services did your company hire WeSoftYou, and what were your goals?
We were looking for the development of a minimum viable product (MVP) for the demo purpose of an easy to use promotion and campaign creation tool. The main goal was to create a user ready MVP that our users could use to create promotions, campaigns for the duration of the promotions, along with a dashboard to display related analytics.
How did you select WeSoftYou and what were the deciding factors?
We selected WeSoftYou after interviewing several companies. We based our decision on their responsiveness and attention to detail around the project requirements and perceived knowledge of the project domain.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We'd previously had mockups completed by another contractor, which we shared alongside a product spec in a google doc. We worked with WeSoftYou to break down the project into sections and begin development in JavaScript with the React framework alongside a Python backend and Postgres database. In just 2 months, WeSoftYou team had successfully implemented all the features.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We started with a Business Analyst at first to validate all the requirements. After that, we’d moved to the development phase with a Back-End Developer, Front-End Developer, Quality Assurance Analyst, and Product Manager.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The developed product was great, creating an easy to use interface for the creation of promotions and campaigns that a user unfamiliar with tools like Google Adwords would still have an easy time understanding and working with.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
WeSoftYou was fantastic to work with. They took the time to understand us as a company so they could really identify what we wanted to achieve. They asked a great question the expounded on what described in the product spec. They were responsive to our requests and flexible when we wanted to make changes.
The project was delivered to an agreed budget and we are really pleased with the results. In fact, we’ve started one more project with them and feel this one is going to be awesome as well.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
As expected from the team, the project delivery was done well and within time. They did a great job asking solid questions when necessary, but working independently for the most part. Our major goal was to build a quality user interface and experience on our web platform which was achieved.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
If I had to point out an area for improvement, I would suggest making sure your plan is outlined and well-defined. The WeSoftYou team is flexible, but managing the expectations should be present on both sides, and being as clear as possible in written documentation is always helpful when working with a team.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Solo-founder of the company.
For what projects/services did your company hire WeSoftYou?
We came to WeSoftYou team for technical assistance in improving and growing an existing project.
What were your goals for this project?
We had a legacy Python codebase that was slow, buggy and needed a complete overhaul. The main goals were to completely rewrite and improve the functionality of the software including turning it into a web app.
How did you select this vendor?
I put out a request on UpWork and found several vendors. After several rounds of interviews, the methodical and structured approach of WeSoftYou appealed the most.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
WeSoftYou’s goal was to rebuild a Python application that queried 100’s of data sources. Together, we defined the scope of the project over numerous iterations. They helped us choose the best technologies from codebase to deployment. Once the scope was complete, they began development, and we did internal testing, allowing us to provide weekly feedback on the progress.
What was the team composition?
Project Manager, QA tester, and 4 developers
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
We took an iterative approach with clearly defined milestones. Plan > validate > code > ship > feedback. The team at WSY were incredibly flexible in this approach and we were able to use it to build a product customers really wanted -- taking feedback and using it to develop new features. Similarly, the whole WSY team weren't afraid to challenge our ideas which, although frustrating at times, actually saved us from wasted hours of dev time on many occasions.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
The company has clearly done this many times. They have a clear structure of how they run projects and it shows in the deliverables. WSY expect clients to be engaged and make sure they provide the correct input at the right times. For those new to hiring remote teams, this approach really helps shape an idea and how it should be best delivered.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The business acumen of every single team member. Sure, building software requires technical knowledge, and many dev shops have smart staff like WSY. What set them apart from the interview stage through to delivery was their willingness to really understand the problem, the market, and the requirements before simply coding something to requirements. All the WSY team, including developers, would often challenge me; "but what problem does this solve for your users" which really helped validate ideas before time was spent coding them.
Are there any areas for improvement?
The team are great communicators and have a good remote working setup. In the early stages there was a little confusion about defined roles, so make sure it is clear as a client you agree up front what everyone is accountable for.

I am a CFO of the company which engaged with digital advertising.
For what projects/services did your company hire WeSoftYou?
Hired them for developing proprietary technology using automated optimization based on multiple methodologies to yield the highest possible ROI for advertisers.
What were your goals for this project?
We were looking for a team with a strong analytical background and great expertise, that’ll focus on research, experiments, and data, bringing insights that help us succeed at the Advertising Market.
How did you select this vendor?
We looked on different channels for web developers and ended up finding Maksym on Upwork - CEO of the WeSoftYou. We had an initial phone call and were impressed by his professionalism, perfect English, and the ease with which he understood our project.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
We started this project with a basic idea. WeSoftYou took over the entire web development of our project, handling coding, implementing all the functionalities, and doing testing. They also advised us on what to prioritize according to our limited budget and what technologies or ideas would work better.
In the end, we got the CRM finance platform - basically a performance-based mobile, video, apps advertising platform. The technology uses automated optimization based on multiple methodologies to yield the highest possible ROI for advertisers while providing competitive CPM’s for publishers’ in line with their monetization goals.
What was the team composition?
We worked with a back-end development team.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Yes, user feedback has been phenomenal - WeSoftYou nailed this project in the exact estimated time and delivered one of the best in the industry We’re truly on a fantastic trajectory.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Communication was great. We were in close, daily contact. We had video conferences, and chats, and had data storage which we used to exchange files. The development process overall was a slice of heaven. Everybody was transparent with their needs and requirements and always reported on time.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They’re proactive and independent. I value that they work without a lot of supervision. They come up with solutions, provide feedback, and express their own opinions. If there’s something they don’t know, they do the research to make it happen and don’t charge us for that time. They have good business ethics.
Are there any areas for improvement?
They need to increase the team size. It’s a limiting factor for them becoming a better company.

We wanted to execute a rapid launch for our new HR SaaS platform.
What were your goals for this project?

We needed to build system, online platform that gives company final candidates at the moment of vacancy opening.
What was the team composition?
There are between six and eight people and I communicate with the whole team directly, including a Project Manager, Business Analytics, Designer, Architect, Front-End and Back-End Developer. WeSoftYou does a good job of recognizing the workload and adjusting the team size accordingly. We changed the scope of work, for instance, and they added a Quality Assurance person to ensure the deadline wasn’t affected.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
They have successfully worked out all the requirements and assisted in the architecture development. WeSoftYou identified both the business and technical requirements necessary to deliver an all-around high quality product. Their transparency and communication have led to a strong partnership with our team. And as Front-End and Back- End were on our side, we were happy working with them.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Unlike their competitors, WeSoftYou really understands the needs of startup, so it was a no-brainer. Their development process is designed to complete projects efficiently while keeping costs down. Also their communication is top-notch, which really helped in speeding up the communication!
Are there any areas for improvement?
WeSoftYou is very structured, which made it harder to flex whenever we needed. This isn’t necessarily a negative since they had everything under control. WeSoftYou team was able to make changes on the fly right away.

For what projects/services did your company hire WeSoftYou?
We hired WeSoftYou for both backend and frontend development of the product.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goal was to build and launch an MVP of the product.
How did you select this vendor?
We found them on a freelancer platform, and after several discussions with Maksym, the CEO, who immediately understood what we were working on and was very communicative and collaborative, it was clear they were what we were looking for.
They are a firm with high-level talent that allows the client to work with developers directly, and understands how to build innovative software products rather than just content sites.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
We used one backend (Python) developer and one frontend (ReactJS) developer from WeSoftYou.
The backend developer worked a number of core backend components - various APIs, database schemas, and offline data processing.
The frontend developer helped us build the home page of the product, which is the most important page, and also helped us refactor the frontend to improve performance by more than 10X.
What was the team composition?
We had 3 backend developers and 2 frontend developers.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
WeSoftYou was an indispensable part of getting our MVP built, and without an MVP, we wouldn't have any users, or a company :).
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
I would say the way WeSoftYou collaborated with us was very effective. They allowed me to manage their engineers directly, which was very important to me.
I had daily standups with the team and communicated with them over Slack as well. Also, Maksym let me know when there were any HR-related issues, which allowed me to address them with the engineers before they became larger issues.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Maksym (the CEO) is a great leader and partner. He understands what American startups are trying to do and invests in his clients' success.
He is extremely available, often taking calls in the evening in his time zone, and once hearing a description of what the client is looking for in terms of talent, delivers it quickly.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I don't have any big areas for improvement.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m the operations manager of a medical education startup. We provide study resources for general practitioners (GPs).
For what projects/services did your company hire WeSoftYou?
We wanted to create a new web-based study tool specifically for exam preparation.
What were your goals for this project?
We needed to create a custom web application that simulated at least two different formats of medical exams in Australia, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. WeSoftYou needed to design the experience as close to the real online exam environment as possible.
How did you select this vendor?
We produced a basic specification to test the market and identify a preferred web developer. We wanted a partner that could have an ongoing role with our business through successive development cycles. We also wanted the agency to provide continued care and attention to the finished solution.
I did a global search and my team interviewed a short list of candidates. WeSoftYou best understood the scope of work and demonstrated a flexible approach to project management. We appreciated that the same team that pitched us would also execute the project. We hired them because we knew who would do the job.
Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?
WeSoftYou used an agile approach to accommodate our specifications as our ideas evolved alongside the partnership. We started with the most complex exam format and proceeded to the second format. We then revised the solution to optimize user-friendliness and ensure realistic exam simulations. Both teams scheduled a limited release to coincide with one of the real semi-annual exams. We used user information from that stage to gain further UX insight.
What was the team composition?
The team included a project manager, a UI/UX designer, two frontend developers, a backend developer, and a QA manager.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
We launched MVP within three months to meet critical deadlines. More than 60% of free trial customers upgraded their subscription in the first three months of operation.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
WeSoftYou was approachable and communicative because the project manager allowed us to interact directly with the entire team. I preferred this experience to others I’ve had on different web development projects. Overall, they were professional and consistently available. The team was the right size for our business.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
WeSoftYou understood our vision and position as a new business. They worked hard to get our product to market on time. Furthermore, the team was committed and passionate. They had a strong business ethic and approached challenges with a can-do attitude. The developers created excellent web-based solutions as a result.
Are there any areas where they can improve?
WeSoftYou should use designers from different parts of the world to understand local markets better. Those resources could then liaise with the excellent development team.

I’m the CEO and founder of GFS Group.
For what projects/services did your company hire WeSoftYou?
We needed full-cycle development to build a web app that would boost peoples' credit scores.
What were your goals for this project?
We needed to create a service that allowed customers to quickly and easily boost their personal credit score.
How did you select this vendor?
After having an unsuccessful experience with a freelance developer, we hired a software consultant who suggested we work a partner in Ukraine.
Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?
We’re creating an ordering system with a wide inventory of trade lines. Customers are added to credit lines as authorized users with specific limits depending on their planned utilization, age, and payment history. This helps temporarily boost their credit rating so they can obtain favorable lending rates and make important financial moves.
The system has three user types, a well-structured admin area, and user customization capabilities. A detailed and prompt notification system keeps everyone in the loop and allows clients to efficiently monitor their credit card bookings.
What was the team composition?

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
I started building the initial user base after we rolled out the first MVP, and new clients keep coming in. The exact outcomes are still unclear, but I’m confident it’ll be a great product that will bring many benefits to my company and users.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
We use Slack and Jira to communicate and manage the backlog. If there’s an issue, they come to me with all the details and a fleshed-out plan of action. They keep me in the loop with detailed reports and accessible task tracking.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They’ve taken responsibility for the project as if it was their own. Even if they’re out of the office for the day, they’ll answer my questions and be ready if something urgent comes up. They’re the first outsourced team I’ve seen that puts such care into their work.
Are there any areas where they can improve?
There’s always something to improve, but everything’s going quite well. I love working with them and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs web development services.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m the CEO of a company that holds payments for services and products securely in escrow until agreements are fulfilled.
For what projects/services did your company hire WeSoftYou?
We needed full-cycle development help to build a web app.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted a web app that would secure payments for both services provided and products sold.
How did you select this vendor?
I researched Ukrainian development companies. WeSoftYou seemed to be the most startup-oriented, and their case studies reflected a lot of product development expertise. They looked like they’d be a great match.
Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?
WeSoftYou developed an MVP version of a custom platform based on Acquirer Systems, an automated test and validation environment for payment solutions. The platform itself assures both a secure sale of goods and a secure buyer-seller relationship.
What was the team composition?
We worked with a project manager, a frontend developer, a backend developer, and a QA manager.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
WeSoftYou delivered an MVP, and I and my team are now in our next round of fundraising. Our research has shown that 45% of people between ages 18-30 are likely to use SPay when making payments on the internet.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
We used Slack for messaging and Jira for managing the backlog. They were available 24/7 to answer questions on Slack and refrained from bothering me with unnecessary technical details. Instead, they kept me in the loop with daily and weekly reports.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
WeSoftYou worked on the project as if it was their own. In fact, even though we aren’t in an active development phase, their CEO and COO are constantly asking us about our latest progress. Compared to other outsourced and freelance teams I reviewed, WeSoftYou is highly product-oriented and cares about results more than budgets. They’ve even helped me with presentations for investors.
Are there any areas where they can improve?
They may have a few areas for improvement, but everything they did for me far exceeded my expectations.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Amenify simplifies apartment living by providing convenient in-home services to multi-family properties. I was the VP of Engineering.
For what projects/services did your company hire WeSoftYou?
We hired WeSoftYou to help us developer the API backend of our web application for our 3 platforms - resident portal, pm portal, and service provider portal.
What were your goals for this project?
The goals were to create a robust and maintainable API backend to our 3 sided marketplace portals.
How did you select this vendor?
We interviewed multiple individual developers and companies and WeSoftYou stood out based on the knowledge and skill-set of the developers.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
This specific project was to create the API backend for our 3 portals - resident portal, property management portal, and service provider portal. We also had to interface with Salesforce, where our Ops, customer support, and Sales were working.
What was the team composition?
Resources from WeSoftYou consisted of two backend developers at first, the team did change as the project needed more and less help.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
We successfully built out the backend API, which allowed us to complete all 3 portals on time.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
I handled project management on the team. We followed a Kanban process in Jira. We had a clear release process, where features would be developed and tested on On-Demand environments, then RCs tested on stage, and quality code deployed to production. We worked out times so that developers from WeSoftYou were available to deal with our problems in our timezone. Overall it was very effective.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
WeSoftYou management was very easy to work with. We made sure to set up a process that kept us happy as well as their developers.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I was overall satisfied, can't think of much to improve.
Driving a 300% increase in revenue for the client, WeSoftYou has delivered 4.1 weekly commits and increased code coverage from 20% to 50%. Their flexibility with process augmentation has impressed their partner. The firms communicate via Slack and use Jira for project management purposes.
